Chapter 42 - a new sibling on the way

I woke up to the sound of Mother's gentle humming, and the warmth of Father's wing still wrapped around me. I stretched my scales and yawned, feeling refreshed after a good night's sleep. As I looked around, I noticed Mother was busy preparing breakfast, while Father was sitting nearby, watching her with a loving gaze. My siblings were still sleeping in the nesting, unaware of the new day starting. Suddenly, Mother stopped humming and looked at Father, then at me, with a curious expression...

I jabbed his albino scales

Father chuckled and gently nudged me with his snout, "Good morning, little one. I see you're feeling energetic today."

I smiled and nudged him back, enjoying our playful morning ritual. Mother, however, seemed a bit distracted, her eyes sparkling with a hint of excitement. She glanced at Father, then back at me, before saying, "Tharros, we need to talk to you about something..." I tilted my head

Mother smiled and took a deep breath, her voice filled with a mix of excitement and nervousness. "Tharros, you're going to be a big brother!"

I question confused. "I'm already a big brother. What are you talking about?"

Mother and Father exchanged a warm, knowing glance, and Mother's light green scales seemed to glow with a soft, happy light. "Tharros, we're having another baby," Mother explained, her voice gentle and excited. "You'll be a big brother again!"

My eyes widened in surprise, and I stared at Mother's belly, trying to process the news. I hadn't expected this! I thought about my siblings, Lyriath, Vyraxys, Nyxoria, Lyrixa, and Kaidorix, and how they would react to having another sibling.

I looked up at Father, who was smiling at me with his albino scales glinting in the dim light. "Really?" I asked, still trying to wrap my head around the idea.

I question ask, "Does my younger siblings know about this?" Mother shook her head, her light green scales rustling softly. "Not yet, Tharros. We wanted to tell you first, since you're the oldest. We'll tell the others together, as a family." I nodded

Father smiled, his albino scales glinting with warmth. "We'll tell them soon. Let's go wake them up and share the news together." I nodded again, feeling a mix of excitement and responsibility as the oldest sibling. Father stood up, his massive wings unfolding from his back, and Mother followed suit. I slid off the rocky outcropping, my silver scales catching the dim light of the cave.

Together, the three of us made our way to the nesting area where my younger siblings were still sleeping. Lyriath, Vyraxys, Nyxoria, Lyrixa, and Kaidorix were all curled up together, their scales a colorful tangle of navy blue, dark bronze, amethyst, rose gold, and forest green.

As we approached, Mother gently cleared her throat to get their attention. The younger ones stirred, yawning and stretching their small wings. Lyriath, being the most alert, was the first to notice us standing there. He rubbed the sleep from his eyes, his navy blue scales glinting with curiosity.

"What's going on?" Lyriath asked, his voice still husky from sleep.

The others began to stir, sensing that something was amiss. Vyraxys sat up, his dark bronze scales creaking softly, while Nyxoria and Lyrixa snuggled closer together, their amethyst and rose gold scales shimmering in the dim light. Kaidorix, the youngest, simply blinked sleepily, his forest green scales looking endearingly rumpled.

Mother and Father exchanged a glance, and then Mother took a deep breath, a soft smile spreading across her face. "Children, we have some special news to share with you..."

Mother's voice trailed off, and she glanced at Father, who nodded encouragingly. The younger ones looked at each other, curiosity and excitement building on their faces.

Lyriath, being the eldest after me, spoke up, "What is it, Mother? You're making us curious!" His navy blue scales seemed to gleam with anticipation.

Mother chuckled, her light green scales shimmering softly. "Well, it's something very special... Something that will bring a new addition to our family."

The younger ones looked at each other, whispers and guesses circulating among them. Vyraxys's dark bronze scales seemed to darken with excitement, while Nyxoria's amethyst scales sparkled with curiosity. Lyrixa's rose gold scales glowed softly, and Kaidorix's forest green scales seemed to brighten with anticipation.

I watched my siblings, a smile spreading across my face. They had no idea what was coming, but they could sense that it was something big.

Father cleared his throat, his albino scales glinting in the dim light. "Children, Thyriatrix and I are..."

Father paused, a warm smile spreading across his face. Mother's light green scales seemed to glow with excitement, and she placed a hand on Father's shoulder.

"...expecting a new baby!" Father announced, his voice filled with joy.

The cave erupted into a chorus of excited squeals and cheers. Lyriath's navy blue scales darkened with excitement, while Vyraxys's dark bronze scales seemed to shine with joy. Nyxoria's amethyst scales sparkled, and Lyrixa's rose gold scales glowed brightly. Kaidorix, the youngest, simply bounced up and down, his forest green scales shimmering with excitement.

I grinned, feeling happy for my parents and my siblings. This was going to be an amazing adventure for all of us!

As the commotion died down, Mother spoke up, her voice filled with warmth. "We're all going to be big brothers and sisters! We'll have to work together to help take care of the new baby."

The younger ones nodded eagerly, already imagining their new roles as big siblings. I smiled, knowing that this was just the beginning of an incredible journey for our family.

Kaidorix looks away. I can see he seems upset, but it seen I'm the only one who sees this. " Look like I'll no longer be the youngest." Kaidorix grunt upsettingly

I watched Kaidorix, noticing the subtle change in his demeanor. His forest green scales seemed to dull slightly, and his eyes looked away, avoiding eye contact with the rest of us. I was the only one who seemed to notice his distress.

"Hey, Kaidorix, you okay?" I asked softly, trying to get his attention.

But before I could get a response, Lyriath jumped in, his navy blue and dark and blood-red scales gleaming with excitement. "Who cares about being the youngest? We're getting a new sibling! It's going to be awesome!"

The others chimed in, sharing their excitement and anticipation. But I kept a close eye on Kaidorix, sensing that he was struggling to come to terms with the news.

Kaidorix's gaze remained fixed on the ground, his forest green scales still dulled by his emotions. He muttered under his breath, his voice barely audible, "Easy for you to say, Lyriath... You're not the one being replaced as the baby of the family." His words were laced with a hint of bitterness, and I could sense the hurt and insecurity brewing inside him.

I watched Kaidorix, my concern growing as I saw the pain and vulnerability etched on his face. I knew that as the youngest, he had always been the center of attention, and the thought of being replaced by a new baby was clearly unsettling for him.

Lyriath, oblivious to Kaidorix's distress, continued to excitedly chatter about the new baby, asking Mother and Father questions about what it would be like and when it would arrive. The others joined in, sharing their own thoughts and predictions, but Kaidorix remained silent, his forest green scales still dulled by his emotions.

I decided to try and reach out to him again, hoping to reassure him that he wasn't being replaced. I slid closer to him, my silver scales glinting in the dim light of the cave. "Hey, Kaidorix, I know this might be a lot to take in, but you're not being replaced, okay?" I said softly, trying to catch his eye.

Kaidorix slowly looked up at me, his eyes clouded with uncertainty. "Really?" he asked, his voice barely above a whisper. "Because it feels like I am. Like, I'm not the baby anymore, and... and I don't know what my place is anymore."

My heart went out to him, and I could feel his pain and confusion. I knew that I had to reassure him, to let him know that he was still loved and valued, no matter what. "Kaidorix, you'll always be our little brother, no matter what," I said, trying to reassure him. "And just because there's a new baby coming doesn't mean that you're not special or loved. You are, and you always will be."

Kaidorix looked up at me, his eyes searching for reassurance. I could see the uncertainty and fear still lurking there, but I also saw a glimmer of hope. He took a deep breath, and then nodded slowly, his forest green scales beginning to brighten once more.

Lyrixa mumbled, "And still being and idiot one." she chuckled

I shot Lyrixa a playful glare, my silver scales glinting with amusement. "Hey, watch it, Lyrixa! Kaidorix is not an idiot," I said, defending my little brother.

Kaidorix himself looked up at Lyrixa, a hint of a smile on his face. "Yeah, I'm not that bad, Lyrixa," he said, his forest green scales sparkling with mischief.

Lyrixa chuckled, her rose gold scales shimmering with amusement. "Oh, I was just joking, Kaidorix! You know I love you, little brother," she said, nudging him playfully with her snout.

The tension was broken, and the others laughed and teased each other good-naturedly. Mother and Father watched us with warm smiles, happy to see their children getting along and having fun.

As the teasing and laughter continued, I couldn't help but feel grateful for my family. We might have our disagreements and quirks, but at the end of the day, we loved and supported each other.

Nyxoria, who had been quietly observing the exchange, suddenly spoke up, her amethyst scales glinting with curiosity. "Hey, do you think the new baby will be a boy or a girl?" she asked, looking at Mother and Father with wide eyes.

Mother smiled, her light green scales shimmering with amusement. "We don't know yet, Nyxoria. But we'll find out soon enough."

Vyraxys, who had been quietly listening to the conversation, suddenly spoke up, his dark bronze scales glinting with excitement. "I bet it's a boy! We need more brothers in this family."

Lyriath chuckled, his navy blue and dark red scales glinting with amusement. "Oh, I don't know, Vyraxys. I think a little sister would be nice."

The debate continued, with each of us sharing our opinions and predictions. Kaidorix, who had been quietly listening to the conversation, suddenly spoke up, his forest green scales glinting with a mischievous glint. "I bet it's a dragon who can breathe ice!"

We all laughed at Kaidorix's wild prediction, and the conversation continued, with each of us sharing our thoughts and ideas about the new baby.

As we talked, I couldn't help but feel excited for the future. A new baby was coming, and with it, new adventures and experiences. I knew that it wouldn't always be easy, but I was ready to face whatever challenges came our way, as long as I had my family by my side.

I mumbled, "My bet it a girl" Lyrixa, who was sitting next to me, nudged me playfully with her snout. "Oh, Tharros thinks it's a girl!" she exclaimed, her rose gold scales shimmering with amusement.

The others turned to me, their eyes sparkling with interest. "Why do you think it's a girl, Tharros?" Nyxoria asked, her amethyst scales glinting with curiosity.

I shrugged, my silver scales rustling softly. "I don't know, I just have a feeling," I said, trying to sound nonchalant.

Vyraxys, who had been confidently predicting a boy, raised an eyebrow. "A feeling? That's not very scientific, Tharros," he teased, his dark bronze scales glinting with amusement.

I rolled my eyes, laughing. "Hey, don't knock it until it's proven wrong, Vyraxys," I said, grinning.

The others chuckled, and the conversation continued, with each of us sharing our predictions and theories about the new baby.

I look at Vyraxys, "and what made you think it a boy?" Vyraxys grinned, his dark bronze scales glinting with confidence. "Well, I've been thinking about it, and I realized that our family needs more brothers. I mean, we've got a lot of sisters already, and it's time for some more brothers to balance things out."

Lyriath chuckled, his navy blue and dark red scales glinting with amusement. "That's a pretty weak argument, Vyraxys," he teased.

Vyraxys shrugged, his dark bronze scales rustling softly. "Hey, it makes sense to me. And besides, I just have a feeling that it's going to be a boy."

Nyxoria raised an eyebrow, her amethyst scales glinting with skepticism. "A feeling? That's the same reason Tharros gave for thinking it's a girl."

Vyraxys grinned, his dark bronze scales glinting with mischief. "Hey, great minds think alike, right?" I look at Nyxoria and Lyrixa, who are girls, and they are also hoping it is a girl

I gazed at Nyxoria and Lyrixa, noticing the hopeful glints in their eyes. Nyxoria's amethyst scales seemed to shimmer with excitement, and Lyrixa's rose gold scales glowed softly with anticipation.

"Looks like the girls are rooting for a sister," I said, smiling at Nyxoria and Lyrixa.

Lyrixa nodded enthusiastically, her rose gold scales sparkling. "We need another girl in the family! It's too boy-heavy right now."

Nyxoria chuckled, her amethyst scales glinting with amusement. "Besides, it would be nice to have another sister to share secrets with."

Vyraxys rolled his eyes, his dark bronze scales glinting with teasing amusement. "You girls and your secrets. What's the big deal?"

Lyriath grinned, his navy blue and dark red scales glinting with mischief. "Don't worry, Vyraxys. We boys have our own secrets too."

The conversation continued, with the girls eagerly hoping for a sister and the boys good-naturedly teasing them about their "secrets".

As the discussion went on, Kaidorix suddenly piped up, his forest green scales glinting with excitement. "I don't care if it's a boy or girl, as long as it's not a dragon who can breathe ice!"

We all burst out laughing at Kaidorix's comment, and the tension was broken. Mother and Father smiled at each other, happy to see their children getting along and having fun.

Just then, Mother spoke up, her light green scales shimmering with a hint of seriousness. "You know, children, having a new baby in the family is a big responsibility. We'll all have to work together to take care of it and make sure it feels loved and welcome."

We all nodded in agreement, knowing that Mother was right. Having a new baby would require effort and dedication from all of us, but we were ready for the challenge.

As we continued to talk and discuss the upcoming arrival of the new baby, I couldn't help but feel a sense of excitement and anticipation. What would the new baby be like? Would it be a boy or girl? And how would our family dynamics change with the addition of a new member? Only time would tell, but one thing was for sure: our family was in for a wild and wonderful ride.

I thought to myself, "There's no way the new baby will arrive in time for the Starlight Gathering. Dragon pregnancies last for 463 days, and the gathering is only 5 days away."

I looked around at my family, wondering if anyone else had done the math. Mother and Father were smiling and chatting with the others, seemingly oblivious to the timeline.

I leaned over to Lyriath, who was sitting next to me, and whispered, "Hey, Lyriath, have you thought about the timing of the new baby?"

Lyriath looked at me quizzically, his navy blue and dark and blood-red scales glinting with curiosity. "What do you mean?" he asked.

I glanced around to make sure no one was listening, and then whispered, "I mean, the new baby can't possibly arrive in time for the Starlight Gathering. Dragon pregnancies last for 463 days, and the gathering is only 5 days away."

Lyriath's eyes widened in understanding, and he nodded subtly. "You're right," he whispered back. "I hadn't thought of that."

We both looked at each other, wondering what this meant for our family's plans. Would we still attend the Starlight Gathering, or would we stay behind to prepare for the new baby's arrival? Only time would tell.

"We'll be attending the Starlight Gathering as planned, children," Mother said, her light green scales shimmering with a warm smile. "The new baby won't be arriving for a while yet, and we wouldn't want to miss this special celebration."

I looked at Lyriath, and we both nodded in understanding. We had been wondering if the new baby's arrival would affect our plans, but it seemed that Mother and Father had everything under control.

"But, Mother, what about the preparations for the new baby?" Lyrixa asked, her rose gold scales glinting with curiosity.

Mother's smile grew wider. "Don't worry, dear. We've already started making preparations. Your father and I have been working on the nursery, and we've got everything we need for the new baby's arrival."

Nyxoria looked thoughtful, her amethyst scales shimmering with interest. "I was thinking, Mother... maybe we could bring back some gifts for the new baby from the Starlight Gathering?"

Mother's eyes sparkled with delight. "What a wonderful idea, Nyxoria! I'm sure the new baby would love some special gifts from the gathering."

The conversation continued, with everyone sharing their thoughts and ideas about the new baby and the upcoming Starlight Gathering. I listened intently, feeling grateful for my loving and supportive family.

As we talked, I couldn't help but think about the Starlight Gathering itself. It was a magical time of year, when dragons from all over the land came together to celebrate the celestial event. There would be music, dancing, and feasting, as well as ancient rituals and ceremonies to honor the stars.

I looked around at my family, feeling excited to share this experience with them. We would all be together, celebrating and making new memories under the starry sky.

Just then, Father spoke up, his deep voice commanding our attention. "Children, what do you want for breakfast?"

I looked at Lyriath, and we both grinned mischievously. "I'm starving!" we chimed in unison, our voices echoing off the cave walls.

Mother chuckled, her light green scales shimmering with amusement. "Well, let's go hunt for some breakfast then."

Nyxoria nodded, her amethyst scales glinting with excitement. "Yes! I could eat a whole deer."

Vyraxys, who had been quietly observing the conversation, suddenly spoke up. "Can I come too? I want to catch something big."

Father smiled, his warm expression encouraging. "Of course, Vyraxys. Lyriath, why don't you and Vyraxys come with me, and we'll see what we can catch?"

Father walked outside and flew off to hunt with Vyraxys and Lyriath

I watched as Father, Vyraxys, and Lyriath flew off into the distance, their scales glinting in the morning sunlight. I could hear the sound of their wings beating as they disappeared over the mountainside.

Mother smiled at Nyxoria. "Why don't you go gather some fresh water from the stream? We'll need it for drinking and cleaning."

Nyxoria nodded, her amethyst scales glinting with enthusiasm. "I'll go get the water skins."

Mother nodded, her light green scales shimmering with a warm smile. "Be careful, dear."

Nyxoria took off, her wings fluttering as she flew towards the stream. I watched her go, feeling a bit content to stay behind and relax for a bit.

Mother, look at me. "So Tharros, since we know your elements are fire, air, water, earth, light, thunder, tech, and ice, I can teach you about water and air and light." I nodded

"Let's start with water," Mother said, her voice filled with excitement. "As a dragon with water element, you have the ability to control and manipulate water. You can create waves, form ice, and even breathe underwater."

She gestured to a small pool of water that had collected in a corner of the cave. "Watch closely, Tharros." Mother focused her energy, and the water in the pool began to ripple and churn. Suddenly, a small wave erupted from the pool, splashing against the cave wall.

"Your turn, Tharros," Mother said, smiling at me. "Try to manipulate the water.", "You can learn about ice from your father, alright," Mother said

I nodded, knowing that Father would be the best teacher for ice magic. He was incredibly skilled at controlling ice and snow, and I had seen him create beautiful and intricate ice sculptures with just a flick of his claw. I looked forward to learning from him soon. "What about air and light, Mother?" I asked, eager to learn more.

Mother smiled and said, "I can teach you both of those 2!" I grinned, excited to learn from Mother. "Great! Let's start with air," I said, my scales rustling with anticipation. Mother nodded, her light green scales shimmering with a warm smile. "Air magic is all about manipulating the winds and the breath. Watch closely, Tharros." She took a deep breath and then gently blew a stream of air towards me. The air rippled and danced, carrying the scent of the mountainside.

I watched in awe as the air seemed to come alive in Mother's hands. She waved her claw, and the air stream danced and swirled, creating a miniature whirlwind that lifted small rocks and dust off the cave floor.

"Now it's your turn, Tharros," Mother said, her eyes sparkling with encouragement. "Try to manipulate the air."

I took a deep breath, focusing my energy on the air around me. I could feel the wind responding to my presence, and I tentatively reached out with my mind to grasp it. To my surprise, a small gust of air erupted from my claws, sending a few loose pebbles skittering across the cave floor.

Mother beamed with pride. "Well done, Tharros! You're a natural."

I grinned, feeling a surge of excitement and pride. "Thanks, Mother! That was amazing."

Mother smiled, her light green scales shimmering with warmth. "You have a lot of potential, Tharros. Now, let's try something a bit more challenging. Let's work on light magic."

I nodded eagerly, my eyes shining with anticipation. Mother began to glow with a soft, pulsing light that seemed to emanate from within her scales.

"Watch closely, Tharros," she said, her voice filled with a gentle, ethereal quality. "Light magic is all about manipulating energy and illumination. It's a powerful and beautiful element."

I watched, mesmerized, as Mother's light grew brighter and began to take shape, forming intricate patterns and shapes that danced across the cave walls.

I stared in wonder, my eyes fixed on the shimmering display of light and color. Mother's magic was breathtakingly beautiful, and I felt my own heart and mind responding to the radiant energy.

"Now it's your turn, Tharros," Mother said, her voice barely above a whisper. "Try to create your own light."

I took a deep breath, focusing my thoughts and energy. I could feel the power of the light element stirring within me, responding to Mother's guidance and example.

Slowly, a small, flickering glow began to emanate from my scales. It was a tiny, tentative light, but it was mine, and I felt an overwhelming sense of pride and accomplishment.

Mother smiled, her eyes shining with warmth and approval. "Well done, Tharros! You're a natural with light magic, too."

Mother's warm smile and words of encouragement filled me with confidence. I felt my light grow stronger, shining brighter and steadier.

"Excellent work, tharros," Mother said, using the affectionate nickname she sometimes called me. "Now, let's try combining your air and light magic."

I nodded eagerly, excited to learn more. Mother guided me through the process, teaching me how to weave my air and light magic together to create a dazzling display of illuminated wind.

As I practiced, the cave was filled with swirling gusts of glittering light, dancing across the walls and ceiling. I laughed with joy, feeling carefree and exhilarated.

Just then, I heard the sound of wings outside the cave. Father, Lyriath, and Vyridiath returned from their hunting trip, their scales glinting in the sunlight as they landed outside the cave entrance.

I heard Father's deep, rumbling voice as he called out, "Thyriatrix, we're back! We brought back some fresh meat for breakfast."

Mother smiled, her light green scales shimmering with warmth. "Wonderful! Tharros and I were just practicing his air and light magic."

I beamed with pride, eager to show off my newfound skills. Father, Lyriath, and Vyraxys entered the cave, their eyes widening in amazement at the swirling gusts of glittering light still dancing across the walls.

Lyriath, his dark red and navy-blue scales glinting with excitement, let out a whistle. "Whoa, Tharros! Your magic is incredible!"

Vyraxys, his dark bronze scales shining with admiration, nodded in agreement. "Yeah, you're a natural!"

Father, his albino scales glinting with pride, approached me, a large piece of fresh meat in his jaws. "Well done, Tharros," he said, setting the meat down in front of Mother. "Your air and light magic are coming along nicely."

Mother smiled, her light green scales shimmering with warmth. "Yes, Tharros has been practicing hard. And now, let's enjoy our breakfast."

The family gathered around the meat, and we began to eat, savoring the fresh flavors. As we ate, I couldn't help but feel grateful for my wonderful family and the magical world we lived in.

As we finish breakfast, I go and play with my younger siblings, I slid across the cave floor, my silver scales glinting in the soft light, as I made my way to where my younger siblings were playing. Nyxoria, her amethyst scales shimmering, was chasing after Lyrixa, who was giggling and trying to hide behind a pile of treasure. Kaidorix, his forest green scales glinting with mischief, was trying to join in on the fun, but was still a bit unsteady on his feet.

I grinned, happy to join in on the playtime. "Hey, little ones! What game are we playing today?" I asked, trying to sound as playful and exciting as possible.

Nyxoria squealed with delight, her amethyst scales sparkling. "Tharros, we're playing hide-and-seek! Lyrixa is hiding, and I have to find her!"

Lyrixa, her rose gold scales glinting, peeked out from behind the treasure pile, her eyes shining with excitement. "No, Nyxoria! You have to count to ten first!"

I chuckled, happy to help facilitate the game. "Okay, okay! Let's start again. Nyxoria, you have to count to ten, and Lyrixa, you have to hide. Kaidorix, you can help Nyxoria find Lyrixa."

Kaidorix, his forest green scales glinting with enthusiasm, nodded eagerly. "Yay! I love playing hide-and-seek!"

Nyxoria closed her eyes, her amethyst scales shimmering with concentration. "One... two... three... four... five... six... seven... eight... nine... TEN!"

She opened her eyes, and she and Kaidorix set off to find Lyrixa. I watched with a grin as they searched the cave, their laughter and shouts filling the air.

Lyrixa, meanwhile, was hiding behind a large crystal formation, her rose gold scales barely visible. I could see her trying to stifle a giggle as Nyxoria and Kaidorix searched for her.

Just as Nyxoria was about to give up, Kaidorix let out a excited cry. "I found her! I found Lyrixa!"

Nyxoria rushed over to Kaidorix, her amethyst scales shimmering with excitement. "Where is she? I don't see her!"

Kaidorix pointed a claw at the crystal formation, his forest green scales glinting with pride. "She's hiding behind the sparkly rock!"

Lyrixa, realizing she had been found, emerged from behind the crystal formation, her rose gold scales glinting with a sheepish grin. "You found me!"

Nyxoria and Kaidorix cheered, happy to have successfully found their sister. I smiled, happy to see my siblings having so much fun together.

As the three of them celebrated, I suggested, "Hey, why don't we play another round? This time, I'll hide, and you three have to find me."

Nyxoria's eyes lit up, her amethyst scales shimmering with excitement. "Yes! Let's play again!"

Kaidorix and Lyrixa nodded in agreement, their forest green and rose gold scales glinting with enthusiasm.

I grinned, happy to join in on the fun. "Okay, I'll go hide. You three count to ten, and then come find me."

With a flick of my silver scales, I took off, searching for the perfect hiding spot.

Pov Lyriath

I walked into the cave, my dark and blood-red scales with hints of navy-blue glinting in the soft light. I had been out hunting with Father and Vyraxys, and we had brought back some fresh meat for breakfast.

As I entered the cave, I saw Tharros playing with the younger ones. Nyxoria, Lyrixa, and Kaidorix were all laughing and chasing each other around, their scales shimmering with excitement.

Tharros, with his silver scales glinting, was hiding behind a rock, and the younger ones were trying to find him. I smiled, happy to see my family having so much fun together.

I decided to watch in on the fun

I leaned against the cave wall, observing the playful scene before me. Tharros was expertly hiding, and the younger ones were having a hard time finding him. Nyxoria's amethyst scales sparkled as she crawled behind a nearby boulder, while Lyrixa's rose gold scales glinted as she peeked behind a crystal formation. Kaidorix, his forest green scales shining with excitement, was running around, trying to find Tharros.

I chuckled to myself, remembering when I was younger and played similar games with Tharros and our other siblings. It was heartwarming to see the younger ones having so much fun together.

Father suddenly appeared behind me. I turned to face him, his albino scales gleaming in the soft light of the cave. He smiled, his eyes crinkling at the corners, and said, "Enjoying the show, Lyriath?" He nodded towards the younger ones, who were still busy trying to find Tharros.

Father question ask "how was me and your mother surprised on announcement the new younger siblings arrived?"

I thought back to this morning's gathering, a small smile playing on my lips. "You and Mother were surprised when the Oracle announced that a new younger sibling would be arriving, because we weren't expecting it," I replied, recalling the memory that was still fresh in my mind.

Father patted my head gently

I felt a warmth spread through my scales as Father's gentle pat on the head filled me with affection. His eyes, filled with kindness and love, looked into mine, and I felt grateful for the special bond we shared.

Father smiled "well look like Kaidorix will no longer be the baby of the family," he giggled

I chuckled, a low rumble in my throat, as I smiled at Father's words. "I guess not," I replied, glancing over at Kaidairx, who was still busy playing with the others. "I'm sure he'll enjoy having someone to boss around."

Father expression changed "it a shame that Tharros won't have offspring of his own by him being genderless,"

I nodded in understanding, feeling a hint of sadness at Father's words. "Yes, it's a shame," I agreed, thinking about Tharros, who was still hiding behind the rock, unaware of our conversation. "But Tharros will always be a part of our family, and they'll have a special role to play in the lives of our younger siblings."

Pov Aetherius

I stood there, watching my children play and laugh together. Lyriath and I had just been discussing the new additions to our family, and I couldn't help but feel a sense of pride and joy. My gaze drifted to Tharros, who was still hiding behind the rock, and I smiled, thinking about how much they brought to our family, even if they wouldn't have offspring of their own. I looked over at Lyriath, seeing the understanding in their eyes, and felt grateful for the strong bond we shared as a family.

Being a parent is a truly remarkable experience, I thought. Seeing them grow and thrive, each with their own unique personalities and quirks, fills me with a sense of pride and purpose. And as I look at Lyriath, I'm reminded of how fast they're growing up, becoming more wise and thoughtful with each passing day.

I unfolded my wings and warped around Lyriath and pulled him close, hugging him

Lyriath wrapped his arms around me, holding me tightly as he buried his face in my chest. "Father," he whispered, his voice filled with affection. I smiled, feeling a warmth in my heart as I held my child close, cherishing this moment of tender connection.

Lyriath looked down and said "you uselly warped your wings to Tharros. This is the first time you hugged me with your wings."

I looked at Lyriath, a hint of surprise and realization on my face. "I suppose you're right," I said, my voice a little softer. "Tharros has always been the one to seek out physical affection, and I've grown accustomed to showing it to him in this way." I paused, looking at Lyriath with newfound appreciation. "But I'm glad I could share this moment with you, Lyriath. You deserve just as much affection and love." I smiled.
