"Tobi," Rose called in a low voice. She wanted to give up, but they had already been searching for a long time in this dark, eerie place. Something felt off, and she couldn't shake the unease creeping up her spine. Tobi couldn't be left alone here any longer—she needed to find him, fast.
"Calm down," Rolan said, jumping down from the tree where he had been standing.
Rose frowned. "Calm down, Rolan? Can you hear yourself? Any moment of hesitation could take my son away from me, and you want me to relax?"
"Calm down," Rolan repeated, taking a step closer to her.
Annoyed, Rose scowled, then turned away, continuing her search. The road stretched far into the distance, barely distinguishable from the overgrown terrain. A narrow path, with patches of arid soil and wild bushes, made it look less like a road and more like a forgotten trail.
"Where are you going, Rose?"
