"Come on let me tag along..."I pleaded with Austin but he ignored me. "I promise I won't misbehave"
He sighed. "That's not my call to make"
I pout just before Xavier appears. " She's coming with us"
I turn my gaze towards him excited. Austin looks puzzled but doesn't argue.
"It's time you meet your own kind!"
We were going to a convention. Everyone that could wield magic would be present. I quickly ran to my room and changed into ridding gear.
My door creecked open and Xavier walked in. He sat at the edge of my bed .
"You're really excited!" He said laying back as I struggled to fasten my corset.
"It's going to be amazing. Can't wait..."
He chuckled and stood up and walked to help me." You are going to be in for a ride trust me. It's more than you can imagine".
He said finishing up and fastening my hair in a bun. He seemed so tender doing this. Somehow sweet.
"You're staring". He says looking at me through the mirror. "I know I'm irresistible try not toake it to obvious."
I chuckle as I roll my eyes.

We were all ready to leave and Xavier brought out his black stallion Chase. He climbed on and held out a hand for me.
"You're riding with me..."he said and I took his hand and sat behind him."Hold on tight"
I wrapped my hands around his waist and leaned on his back.
"Good girl!" He mumbled as we rode off.
The ride was unusually fast. Xavier was in the lead. Austin and Lilly followed closely. Xavier was focused on his riding and I didn't let go not once.
"You good". He asked.
I nodded .
*****
After a while I felt us slow down. We eventually stopped at the edge of a misty cliff.
He climbed off then helped me by holding my waist. He didn't let go even after in order to steady me on my feet.
"Have we arrived?" I asked looking over at Austin and Lilly as they got off their horse.
Xavier nodded.
I looked at the mist and cliff but saw nothing. He must have seen my confused look cause he chuckled.
"In order to enter it is all about trust..." Xavier said. " So do you trust me?"
I looked at him not sure what to say. I trusted Austin and Lilly but him , I wasn't sure.
"Well..." Xavier arched a brow.
He still had his hand on my waist. "Why you.."
He chuckled. "Without me you'll be dead upon entering...so what's it going to be"
I took a deep breath." I do . I trust you."
He smirked ." Prove it. Walk over the cliff"
My eyes widdened at his request. Was this guy insane!
I walked away from his arm and towards the cliff. My heart hammering against my rib cage. I took a deep breath and looked down and it was a bottomless pit. I looked back at them and they seemed calm.
I turned and took one last breath before putting my foot forward and stepping off but I didn't fall. I didn't descend into nothingness. It seems I stepped on something but I checked and it was air. I moved my other foot from the edge and brought it forward and there I was floating.
I chuckled in awe but mostly relief that I didn't die. I looked back at them and Xavier smirked walking towards me.
"Wow you really do trust me..." He said casually stepping off and floating. He stretched out his hand and I took it. Our fingers intertwined. We walked on nothing deeper into the mist.
We soon stopped and with a wiff of his hand cleared the mist to reveal a huge wall enclosing what seemed to be a gigantic palace. A gate appeared and as we approached it opened and we walked in. There were rows of men dressed in black lined up on each side.
They seemed to bow as we walked past them . He was the ruler here. Xavier was a ruler.
"Yes dear I am ..." He said as if reading my thoughts." And you are my right hand". He said tightening his grip on my hand.
Now my curiosity was piqued. What power did this man posses? We walked into the huge palace full of people. The grand hall had a high chandelier above us adorned with crystals. The luxurious intricate pattern of the walls was captivating.
All turned to face us clearing a path for us to the front. I held on tight. I could tell each member was assessing me.
As soon as we got to the front. There was two huge throne chairs. Xavier urged me to take one as he sat on the other. As we sat the rest also took their seats.
I know it probably wasn't the right moment to think this but Xavier looked good. An aura of power radiated from him. Lucky for me he was my man!
