Chapter 48 - Dark Corners

The sun was sinking in the west, and candles were lit early in an unknown old castle located somewhere in the Sinnoh region.

The shadows of the lamps were like beans, and the whole old fortress looked eerie.

Cannot hear the sound of people, only the sound of the wind in the corridors of the old castle whimpering, and from time to time came the cries of the dark crows as if the whole old castle into the night in advance.

Finally, as if the sun could not stand the depression in the old castle, it silently disappeared. The moon was covered by dark clouds, and a light rain fell, with a gentle rain sound, like a lullaby sung by a gentle mother. The sound of the leaves shaking was like the murmuring of a baby in its cradle.

At this time, there was a gust of wind from the open door of the castle, rushed in, and then, almost at the same time, all the orange-red candles were extinguished, as if there were hundreds of maidservants, at their side, gently blowing them out.

The old castle fell into silence. The ink-like night curtain flooded the entire ancient castle, which fell into deep darkness. In the courtyard, a Murkrow flapped its wings and left. It left in silence and in a hurry, as if it had seen something terrifying slowly approaching.

Within a short while, there seemed to be no breath of life in this ancient castle.

Silence, turned into dead silence.

And just when this dead silence enveloped the entire ancient castle, a cluster of purple candles appeared so abruptly in the ancient castle, and then, there were one after another chandeliers with purple candles that appeared in the ancient castle.

They illuminated the entire ancient castle without a trace of warmth.

The entire ancient castle was still cold, but it had a maddening hilarity.

One after another, Litwick, Lampent, and Chandelure appeared from the air, laughing and reveling. They poured madly into the rooms of the castle, dragging out one Pokémon after another, and then began a crazy feast.

In the meeting room of the castle, 6 people sat on a round table. Around the perimeter of the round table, there were still 11 empty seats.

Listening to the crazy sardonic laughter of Litwicks coming from outside the door, a person with a Tornadus mask pulled out his own ears, and then said in a dissatisfied voice, "Which one of you can let these crazy dogs be quiet for a while, they make me feel like I'm being viciously stabbed in the ears with a needle, thankfully."

It was a petulant male voice.

And to his left, two or three seats over, a man in a Giratina mask gently snapped the table in front of him, and then all the crystal-lit fire spirits outside were silenced. No more sound came in.

"Oh..! Thank you beyond measure! Miss Ghost! Praise you for your kindness!" A man in Tornadus mask shouted in a singing opera-like tone.

His voice created an echo in the empty conference hall, and the sound drifted as if it were endless.

"Shut up, Flight, we're here to talk. Not to see you put on a show."

Across from Flight, a man wearing a Groudon mask said coldly.

A muffled laugh came from under Flight's mask, "Ground, does it concern you what I'm going to do?"

"You, interrupting my meditation."

Ground said still coldly.

Flight was about to say something else, when he heard another person's voice.

"Don't argue in the conference room, you two. If there's something that can't be said in a conciliatory manner, please move to the courtyard for a fight." The woman with the fantasy mask spoke. The woman's voice sounded gentle, but what she said was obviously quite forceful.

"Hmph!" ×2

Flight and Ground both snorted coldly at the same time, but they both stopped their mouths and stopped talking.

"With all due respect, Ms. Psychic." A man with a Kyogre mask spoke, his voice gentle and calm, a man with a voice that made people sound comfortable.

"Mr. Arceus is not here, so may I ask who called us to the meeting? And why were we the only ones called?"

As soon as he spoke, a thick male voice rang out.

"I..."

3 seconds later.

"Also..."

"Stop, stop, stop, Steel, I'll say it for you." Flight very ungentlemanly interrupted Steel, a man with a Dialga mask, words.

"Ms. Psychic, we are just as interested as Water in the fact that Mr. Arceus called us but did not come forward himself, and the purpose for which we were called."

Flight's tone was still flippant, but this time Ground didn't stand up to him and dislike him, instead he stared just as straight at Psychic's Mew mask, trying to see right through it as if he were trying to see through it.

Unfortunately, he couldn't and didn't dare to do so.

Rules, are rules.

Psychic held up one of the masks on his table. The crowd, having adjusted to the darkness, could all vaguely see the mask as well.

Arceus.

"You... killed him?"

A female voice as thin as a mosquito fly but clearly reached the ears of the crowd.

Flight involuntarily tilted her upper body back. Water crossed his arms and dragged his chin, a smirk in his eyes. Steel adjusted his sitting posture to look more upright. Ground's fists clenched and one hand sank under the table.

Ghost, on the other hand, was looking straight at Psychic.

Psychic still didn't react, just silently put his mask down, then said still gently, "Arceus said he found clues to the location where Arceus was sleeping and couldn't get out of it, so he asked me to host this meeting. As for why I asked a few of you to come."

"...Because several of you have had the experience of facing the stone slab directly."

The remaining five in the room fell silent in unison. Silently, they looked at Psychic, waiting for her next words.

"Recently, one of the 'messengers' found a clue to a certain tablet. But she had no experience with it. And while the tablet is not a new opponent for us, it has never been defeated. So, I'd like to ask a few of you to write down the more crucial points of your experience and give them to me. I will send your experiences to this 'messenger' to help her acquire the Stone Tablet."

"We, it seems, are not obligated to do so."

Water spoke up again.

Psychic looked to Water and spoke, "I will pay enough on behalf of Arceus in exchange."

Flight whistled.

"That's nice, I don't have a problem with that, I would have loved to obtain the Flight Slate as well, too bad I let him get away. If this one is able to capture the tablet, I can take lessons from her."

When he said this, he changed his words and said with a smile, "But first, let's see the chips."

Ms. Psychic didn't talk much, and five thousand paper cranes carrying five pens flew from various parts of the conference hall and flew in front of each of the five people. Then they unfolded and became two pieces of paper, one with words and conditions written on it, and one without words, just white paper.

Each of the five people looked at the conditions in front of them, then silently grabbed a pen and wrote something on the white paper.

Soon, Flight, the slowest writer among the five, also put down his pen.

Psychic saw this and said, "Thank you all. The five of you may leave, and this month's regular meeting will proceed as usual."

The five heard this and without any nonsense, grabbed the piece of paper with the conditions written on it, and each released their own Psychic-type Pokémon before instantly leaving.

It was very dry.

Amidst the storm, the old castle was, once again, restored to darkness.

  1. These OCs from this organization are Pokémon type (at least similar), "Rai" or "Denki" since both means Lightning and Thunder, they will not be changed
  2. "飞行", which is for "Flying" sounded awkward, left at "Flight"
