As the bell rang, it was time for the Math class,
Math class was always a mixed bag for Ryan. He enjoyed the challenge of solving problems, but it also meant enduring an hour of watching Summer from a distance. She sat near the front, always attentive and engaged, while Ryan quietly admired her from the back.
As the class progressed, Mr. Harris, their math teacher, began a particularly tricky topic on quadratic equations. Ryan followed along easily, but he noticed Summer's furrowed brow and puzzled expression. She scribbled notes furiously, occasionally glancing around as if seeking help.
When the class ended, Ryan packed his books slowly, hoping for a chance to approach her. But before he could make a move, he heard a soft voice behind him.
"Hey, Ryan?"
He turned around, his heart pounding. Summer stood there, her textbook clutched in her hands and a hopeful smile on her face.
"Hi, Summer," he replied, trying to sound casual despite the nervousness that made his voice tremble slightly.
"I was wondering if you could help me with something," she said, her eyes sincere. "I didn't quite understand the part about quadratic equations. You seem to get it really well."
Ryan blinked in surprise. "Uh, yeah, sure. I'd be happy to help."
They moved to an empty desk at the front of the classroom, and Ryan felt a mix of excitement and anxiety as he sat beside her. Summer opened her textbook and pointed to the problem that had stumped her.
"See, I don't get how to factorize this part," she explained, her brow furrowed in concentration.
Ryan nodded, taking a deep breath to steady his nerves. "Okay, let's break it down step by step."
As he explained the concept, Summer listened intently, her eyes lighting up with understanding. They worked through a few problems together, and Ryan couldn't help but admire her determination and intelligence.
"Wow, that makes so much more sense now," Summer said, a smile spreading across her face. "Thanks, Ryan. You're really good at this."
Ryan felt his heart swell with pride and gratitude. "I'm glad I could help. If you ever need any more help, just let me know."
Summer glanced at the clock and then back at Ryan. "Actually, would you mind if we sat together during math class from now on? It would be great to have someone to discuss things with."
Ryan's heart raced. This was more than he had ever hoped for. "Yeah, I'd love that."
"So Ryan what do you do for fun after the school", she asked
"Uh I love to play football and I listen to music and play video games in my free time", he replied nervously
" So you are basically that typical type of boy, Hahaa", she said jokingly
"Yaaa I mean, so what does your hobbies look like", he asked
"Ya i love listening music, and I read books in my free time", she said excitingly
"So what does your music taste looks like", he asked
"Oh, I love a bit of everything! But if I had to choose, I'd say I'm really into indie pop", she replied
Ryan smiled, feeling a warm connection forming between them,"So you are basically that typical type of girl", he said taunting her on earlier joke.
"Oh You! hahaa, I like your humour", why didn't we talk anyday before this?", she said
"I don't know really, I always wanted to talk to you because you always looked like a great person to talk to, but ya better late than never", Ryan blushing
Summer replied, " Ya I think we will make a great company, See you tomorrow Ryan and don't forget I am going to give you trouble in the math class again", she said and smiled in the best way possible.
"Haha, I will be ready to get my brain stormed by your doubts,Bye Summer", Ryan said smiling at her
Ryan finally talked to Summer and will this thing ever lead to something good for him or they will end up just being friends?
