Chapter 18 - A Guest Uninvited

The silver peaks...

"It's not a bother, Dracula. Yes, they have home advantage, but we are the greater fighters." Draven said to his good friend, but Dracula didn't look as certain.

"You and I might be the better fighters, yes. But the werewolves have many other strong fighters, will the younger vampires be able to handle their fights?"

Draven found his friend's scepticism off-putting.

"It doesn't matter. After I charge the central mountain and kill Lunaris Silverclaw, I will have enough time to make my way to the other peaks and help whoever needs help."

A few moments of silence hung between them before Dracula finally nodded his head.

"Of course, Brother. I'm sure I worry for no reason."

I'm sure you do.

"Well, the day nears that we go to battle. The vampires are training hard. Once this battle is won, we will not have long to go before world domination is achieved."

The mentioning of world domination always excited Draven.

After defeating the werewolves, he would need to target the other 3 major clans.

The Daemons.

The Fairies.

And the humans.

His mind ran back to his time in Odalys lair, and the contraption that he had seen.

The gift.

Based on what he had seen and heard, the humans might be the most dangerous of the three.

Of course, he still had the other minor clans to worry about as well. Those like the Whiteyes, who's forces were not quite as strong as the major races, but could still cause trouble under the correct circumstances.

I should not get ahead of myself...

I have a formidable enemy in front of me. Let me focus on the task at hand.

---

A few days later, The vampires were almost ready to make their way to the north.

Towards the silver peaks.

Draven was in the field, watching over the training of Lucian.

The boy was shaping up incredibly well.

He had finally chosen a weapon to specialise in. The katana.

It suited him well. He was fast and agile.

Not only that, but the weapon was light enough to be wielded with one hand, meaning Lucian could still cast blood magic with his free hand if he wished.

The boy was demonstrating his speed, dashing through the field, weaving between and outside of other vampires without even being noticed.

Now and then, he would launch himself into the air using blood magic and land gracefully, hardly making a noise.

He truly is a prodigy.

However, as Draven was watching over the training field, he noticed something.

No... He felt something.

Something strange. Something powerful.

What in Velhalla?

He wasted no time, placing the tip of his finger in his mouth and biting its tip so that a drop of blue blood fell.

The Malevolent Blood.

The feeling was coming from the north, and approaching slowly.

No one else seemed to feel what he was feeling, but the vampires that had seen the drop of blue blood cowered away from him, as though they might be his target.

"Master? Is everything okay?" Lucian said, dashing to stand behind him, sword readied for oncoming danger.

Draven only stood there looking towards the northern exit of the field, which led to the outsides of the Noctaris estate.

He slowly walked towards the exit, Lucian remaining close by his side.

The northern exit of the Noctaris Estate led to a large road. The load would continue through miles of fields and forests, passing through many small towns and villages.

These settlements were home to vampires who did not live on the estate but were still under Noctari's jurisdiction. However, once you passed a certain border, you would reach the land of the humans.

And a hundred miles further in that direction, once you passed through human settlements, was the central city of Velhalla. Londis.

Londis was owned by the humans, and incredibly large. This was due to the humans strong desire to increase their populations to large amounts.

The other clans saw this as foolish; only the fairy population was close to the humans, but that was due to other reasons.

More importantly though, since this strange power was coming from the northern direction, Draven had a feeling that he knew who it could be.

As he reached the edge of the training field and looked towards the road, he saw three people making their way down, slowly.

With his enhanced senses, he could make out what they looked like, even from such a distance.

Two women wearing white suits were walking on either side of somebody. The women were stunning, but they were not who Draven was focused on.

It was the person in the middle that Draven sensed immense power coming from.

A man.

Yet the man looked unformidable. He had orange hair that was fashionably styled and wore a monocle over one eye.

He was tall and slender, wearing a brown long-sleeved shirt and black trousers. His skin was a regular white.

Yet he gave off a power similar to Odalys' in her powered state.

No... Even stronger.

Draven allowed the blue drop of blood to float around him as he watched the man approach. He could not take any risks.

Lucian stood beside him, and all the other vampires had stopped what they were doing, watching what was about to take place. They could sense something was off.

Finally, the man reached them, keeping a respectable distance and a calm look on his face.

Is this the current leader of the humans? We've struggled to learn any information about them... Would he really show up like this?

Then, to Draven's surprise, the man bowed his head, and the women beside him copied.

"Draven Noctaris, Lord of the Vampires. It's a pleasure to meet you." The man said, his words well spoken.

Draven simply stared at the man, keeping the drop of blue blood ready to be used.

"Please," the man said, noticing the anxious look on the vampire's face. "We come here on the orders of The Mother, and in peace."

Draven's eyebrow rose in confusion.

The Mother? I've never heard of such a person.

Still, he answered as though he knew what the man was talking about.

"What does she want?" He asked brashly.

"She has invited you for tea at the royal castle and wishes to discuss your return. Mother does not want to be your enemy; we hope that you will accept the invitation."
