It all begins with this wish.
"Exchange my body with Goku's."
The light of the Super Dragon Balls radiated across space, in a desolate region of the universe. Zamasu had just made a wish as part of his plan. He knew he wasn't strong enough to achieve his ultimate goal. Taking Goku's body was only the first step.
He had meticulously gathered the Super Dragon Balls without the gods noticing, and now, no one could stop him. The eyes of the giant dragon, Super Shenron, glowed after the wish had been made in the language of the gods.
"Your wish has been granted. Farewell."
As Super Shenron disappeared, the place where Zamasu once stood was now occupied by Goku. But one detail caught the eye: he was wearing Zamasu's clothes. He smiled.
"The wish has indeed been granted."
Now that he had lost some of his privileges as a Kaio Shin, they were gone for good. He realized that as a Saiyan, he couldn't stay in space for very long.
Holding his breath, he looked around and spotted the nearest star. With a single leap, he reached it.
This planet had an atmosphere. As soon as Goku landed, he inhaled the fresh air deeply. After exhaling, he shouted at the top of his lungs:
"Aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaah."
The clouds scattered under the force of his cry, and he wasn't even using his ki. It was purely physical.
When he stopped, he burst into loud laughter:
"Ah ah ah ah ah ah ah ah! I did it. Such a powerful body… To think these inferior beings are so well endowed."
Goku clenched his fist.
"I need to test this body."
Fssh.
Fshhh.
He began throwing punches into the air. One after another. A spinning kick. He jumped, spun around, and threw another punch.
He was certain his physical condition was excellent, and with his knowledge, he was unstoppable.
"It's time to move forward with the plan. But first..."
"Hey, it's time to kill a Kaio Shin who's strayed from the right path."
Meanwhile, back at Goku's house, something no one could have foreseen was happening.
"G... Goku?" Chichi stammered.
The chair was on the ground because she had stood up so abruptly that it tipped over.
She couldn't believe her eyes. Just moments ago, she was enjoying a family meal. Goten and Goku were joyfully devouring their dishes when suddenly, Goku had transformed into someone else.
"Is it really you, Goku?"
"Yes, it's me. But I feel a little strange."
Goku hadn't noticed his new appearance yet, but he could feel changes in his body.
After raising his hand slightly to grab something, he saw the color of his hand.
"Hikk."
"What is this?"
He quickly ran to the pond near his house to see his face. It wasn't his anymore; he had become someone else.
He was soon joined by Goten, who, instead of being frightened, was rather amazed by the sight.
Goku, now in Zamasu's body, stood by the pond near his house. The reflection in the water showed a face he didn't recognize—pale skin and eyes brimming with divine arrogance. He quickly realized something far more dangerous was happening.
He straightened up and looked around. His body, the one he had always known, was now just a memory. But his mind remained intact, and his fighter's instinct screamed that an enemy was approaching.
"If someone went this far to swap our bodies, it means they're coming for me. And I won't let that happen."
He took a deep breath, letting a sense of calm settle over his mind, despite the tremors of fear and anger coursing through him. Even in this unfamiliar body, he had to fight. He had to protect Chichi and Goten, and most importantly, uncover the true threat.
Suddenly, he felt a familiar yet sinister energy. It was his own ki—but it was colder, darker, and filled with malice. The energy was closing in fast.
"That's me… my body. But it's not me controlling it."
Goten ran up to his side, ready to jump into action.
"Dad, what's that energy?" he asked, a mix of excitement and worry in his voice.
Goku placed a hand on his son's shoulder.
"Stay back, Goten. This fight is dangerous. Protect your mother."
Goten opened his mouth to protest, but the gravity in his father's voice silenced him. Chichi, still near the house, watched the scene with fear-filled eyes.
"Goten, listen to your father!" she shouted.
Goku turned back toward the sky. The malevolent energy was close now—so close he could feel the ground beneath his feet trembling. He instinctively took a fighting stance, even though this body didn't respond like his own.
"Even if I don't have my body, I'm still a Saiyan. And I'll protect my family, no matter what."
The sky suddenly darkened, and a golden flash tore through the clouds. His own body, now inhabited by Zamasu, descended from above, floating ominously. A smug, disdainful smile spread across his face.
"So, this is where you're hiding, Goku. Or should I say, Zamasu?" Zamasu said in Goku's body, his voice laced with icy arrogance.
Goku didn't respond immediately. He adjusted his stance, testing the flexibility of this new body.
"I don't know who you really are, but if you think stealing my body makes you unbeatable, you're dead wrong."
Zamasu let out a cruel laugh.
"It's not just about power, Goku. It's about perfection. Your body, combined with my divine mind, is the ultimate weapon. And you, poor mortal, trapped in my body… you're already defeated."
Without warning, Zamasu lunged at incredible speed, his fist aimed straight at Goku. Goku barely managed to dodge, but he could feel the raw power of his own body grazing his face.
"He's fast… too fast. I need to adapt, and quickly."
Goku stepped back, trying to assess the situation. His movements were slower in this body, but his strategic mind remained sharp. He formed a green energy sphere in his palm, a technique he could apparently use in Zamasu's body.
"If I have to use his abilities to compensate, so be it. But I'll fight with everything I've got."
He hurled the energy attack with all his might, creating an explosion that shook the ground. But Zamasu, in Goku's body, emerged from the flames unscathed, his smile even wider.
"You don't stand a chance, mortal. Prepare to be erased."
Goku gritted his teeth.
"You don't understand… When it comes to protecting my family, I don't need a chance. I'll beat you—with or without my body."
The battle had only just begun.
Goku, trapped in Zamasu's body, desperately tried to adapt. Every attack he launched seemed futile against Zamasu, who had full mastery of Goku's body. The ground trembled under the force of their clashes, and the air was thick with oppressive energy.
"It's useless, Goku!" Zamasu sneered, his voice dripping with cruelty. "Your power, your family, everything you are… now belongs to a god."
Goku wiped the blood trickling from his mouth, his new body struggling to stay upright. He was battered, but he refused to give up.
"I don't care what you say… I won't let you win. Even if I'm weak in this body, I'll fight to the very end."
Zamasu laughed mockingly.
"To the end? Then let me help you reach it."
He raised his hand, summoning an immense golden energy orb. The sheer magnitude of the attack sent waves of energy rippling through the air, causing Goten to freeze in shock.
"Dad, let me help you!" Goten shouted, rushing toward him.
"No, Goten!" Goku yelled. "Protect your mother!"
But it was too late. Goten charged at Zamasu, fury burning in his eyes.
"Leave my dad alone!" he screamed, firing a Ki blast.
The attack barely reached Zamasu, who swatted it away with a flick of his wrist.
"A mere child dares to challenge a god?" Zamasu said with disdain.
In an instant, Zamasu appeared in front of Goten, his movements blindingly fast. With a single, devastating blow, he sent Goten hurtling through the trees. The boy's body hit the ground with a lifeless thud.
"GOTEN!" Goku's scream tore through the air, filled with anguish.
Chichi, watching the nightmare unfold from the house, fell to her knees. Her tears streamed down her face, but as grief turned to fury, she stood up, trembling with rage.
Grabbing a kitchen knife, she ran toward Zamasu.
"You monster! I won't let you destroy my family!"
Zamasu slowly turned his head toward her, his cold smile unwavering.
"Mortals truly are pathetic."
With a swift motion, he impaled her with an energy blade, his expression emotionless as Chichi collapsed with a final, heart-wrenching cry.
"No! Chichi!" Goku screamed, rage now burning through every fiber of his being.
Summoning every ounce of energy he could muster, he formed a glowing green sphere in his trembling hands. It crackled with raw desperation.
"Zamasu! No matter what's left of me, I'll take you down with me!"
He hurled the attack with all his might. The energy roared toward Zamasu, but Zamasu, inhabiting Goku's body, was faster—far too fast. With a quick sidestep, he dodged the blast effortlessly and appeared directly in front of Goku.
"Pathetic. This is the end, Goku."
With a final strike, Zamasu plunged his hand through Goku's chest. Goku staggered, blood pouring from his wound, his strength fading. His eyes drifted to the lifeless forms of Chichi and Goten.
"I… I'm sorry…" he whispered as his body collapsed, lifeless.
Zamasu stood tall among the ruins of Goku's home, his stolen body untouched, his expression victorious. He raised his arms to the darkened sky.
"A god has triumphed. And this is only the beginning."
The wind carried the silence of destruction, sweeping away the last remnants of a shattered family.
