The newly crowned Yonko, Monkey D. Luffy, and the Straw Hats were on their way to Egghead after all the events that had unfolded in Wano. The sun was high in the sky, its warm rays dancing across the deck of the Thousand Sunny. The waves lapped gently against the hull, and the salty tang of the ocean breeze mingled scent of the open sea. Seagulls glided above the ship, their cries punctuating the calm. The scene was beautiful, the kind of tranquillity that felt too good to be true—like the calm before a storm.
Usopp was leaning on the ship's railing, squinting at the horizon "Man, the weather's amazing today—almost too amazing. It's way too calm. Hey, Nami, everything okay?"
Nami glanced at Usopp, her brow furrowed. "Yeah, everything looks fine… but I can't shake this feeling. Something's coming.
"Eh, probably just nerves," Chopper said, to reassure her. "I'm sure it's nothing."
"Yeah," Usopp muttered, though his grip on the railing tightened. "Let's hope so."
The tranquillity didn't last long. A sudden shift in the atmosphere seemed to grip the crew. The bright sunlight dimmed, as if someone had draped a shadow over the sky. The wind, once a gentle companion, turned restless. It tugged at sails and hair, whispering ominous secrets of a brewing tempest.
Nami's head snapped up, her gaze locking on the horizon. The distant line where the sea met the sky darkened, bruised with storm clouds. Flashes of eerie green and blue lightning rippled through the darkness like veins, illuminating an ominous shape swirling far in the distance.
A tornado!" Nami shouted, her voice cutting through the growing chaos. "But not just any tornado—look at it! There's lightning all around it. This is bad. This is really bad!"
The air pressure seemed to drop, making it harder to breathe. Luffy, who had been lazily sprawled on the figurehead, sat up, his hat clenched in his fist to keep it from blowing away. "Woah, what the heck is that?! Looks awesome!"
"This isn't awesome, Luffy!" Sanji snapped, his usual cool demeanor cracking. His cigarette flickered before the howling wind extinguished it altogether. "That's death staring us in the face."
"Gyaaaa!" Usopp yelled, scrambling away from the railing. "We're doomed! It's a lightning tornado! A LIG-NADO!" Get it?????
"That's not even a real word!" Franky shouted from the helm. His usual confidence wavered as he gripped the ship's wheel tightly. "Whatever it is, it's SUPER not good! Everyone hold on to something! I don't know if I can steer clear of this!"
Robin, ever calm but her voice tinged with urgency, glanced up from her book and scanned the horizon. "If we get caught in that… it could rip the Sunny apart."
As if to underscore her warning, the sea roared in protest. Waves, now monstrous and angry, surged toward the ship. The once-placid ocean had transformed into a ferocious beast, its surface frothing as wind tore across it. Lightning forked down into the water, sizzling and crackling with deadly force, painting everything in harsh flashes of blinding light.
Brook clutched his violin, his skeletal teeth chattering despite his lack of skin. "Yohohoho! I think this storm is trying to play a song of destruction, and I don't want to be its instrument!"
"We have to outrun it!" Nami shouted, bolting to the map table. Her fingers trembled as she charted their course, but her eyes remained sharp, her mind whirring at breakneck speed. "Franky, head northwest! There's a current there we can use to boost our speed!"
The Sunny groaned and creaked as it cut through the increasingly violent waves. Zoro stood firm in the face of the chaos, one hand resting on his sword hilt. He glanced skyward at the swirling maelstrom. "Is this a freak weather thing, or are we about to get dragged into something... worse?"
"I don't know!" Nami shouted, her voice cracking. "But I do know we can't afford to find out!"
Another crack of lightning struck perilously close to the ship, sending sparks showering into the water. Chopper shrieked, instinctively ducking. Luffy, however, stood defiant at the bow, the wide grin on his face not matching the gravity of the situation.
"We've been through worse, haven't we, guys?" Luffy bellowed. "Let's show this storm who's boss!"
"DON'T ANTAGONIZE THE STORM, LUFFY!" Usopp wailed, gripping a mast for dear life as the Sunny bucked beneath him.
The massive tornado grew closer, an unstoppable force twisting the sky into a vortex of chaos. Its lightning-filled spirals reached higher and wider than anything they'd ever seen. It roared with a sound like a thousand ships being shredded into splinters. The crew braced themselves, hearts pounding in collective dread as the monstrous phenomenon bore down on them.
