Chapter 2 - Chapter 227: Emergency Situation of East

Although Wade was commanding his Kommo-o and Druddigon to battle against two other peak Elite-level Pokémon, he kept an eye on Julian's side of the fight.

A Poké Ball rested in his hand, ready to intervene and assist Julian if needed.

However, when Wade saw Mega Metagross defeat the Mantine, his expression flickered with both surprise and amazement.

The rapid growth of Julian's Metagross was far beyond his expectations.

With Mantine defeated, Julian considered sending Mega Metagross to assist Wade.

But as he turned to look, he realized Wade's battle had already concluded.

It made sense—Wade was, after all, a peak Elite Dragon-type trainer. Dealing with two wild peak Elite Pokémon was expected of him.

The appearance and subsequent defeat of the three wild peak Elite Pokémon had taken no more than five or six minutes. However, during that time, the Water-type Pokémon advancing from the sea had managed to break through a section of the defensive line.

Some trainers and their Pokémon had tragically fallen in the battle.

Thankfully, Julian's Steelix had immediately plugged the breach, preventing more Water-types from flooding into Haitian City.

"Ring...ring.."

Just then, Wade's phone rang.

"Wade, can you spare any people on your end? A large number of Water-types are breaking into Haitian City from the eastern forest."

Haitian City was surrounded by the sea on its north, south, and west sides, while the east connected to the mainland via a large forest.

But this forest was also home to many Water-type Pokémon.

Currently, most trainers were concentrated on defending the northern, southern, and western fronts, with a small number evacuating civilians. There simply weren't enough people to stop the Pokémon invading from the east.

Send over people?

Wade's lips twitched slightly, while the three wild peak Elite Pokémon had been defeated and the remaining Water-types were momentarily cowed by the presence of Kommo-o and Druddigon, the situation remained precarious.

There was no guarantee that more peak Elite Pokémon—or even pseudo-Champions—wouldn't show up later.

If reinforcements were sent east and the defensive line weakened, a breach could undo all their previous efforts.

But ignoring the eastern threat wasn't an option either.

"Julian, head to the eastern forest. A large number of Water-types are invading Haitian City from that direction," Wade instructed.

Reinforcements had to be sent, but if they couldn't send many, the ones sent needed to be strong—and Julian was the best candidate.

Julian nodded without hesitation. Retrieving all his Pokémon into their Poké Balls, he mounted Dragonite and took off, flying swiftly toward the east.

Meanwhile, the situation on Haitian City's eastern front was growing increasingly dire.

Since the eastern route was the only land connection to Haitian City, it naturally became the best evacuation path for civilians.

However, this route was now blocked by Water-type Pokémon emerging from the forest, and they had launched a direct assault on the evacuation line.

The trainers escorting the civilians immediately stepped up to confront the Pokémon, but against the sheer numbers—nearly ten thousand Water-types—their efforts quickly proved insufficient.

Before long, casualties began to mount among the trainers' Pokémon.

Seizing the opportunity, a few Golduck unleashed powerful Hydro Pumps directly toward the fleeing civilians.

Human bodies stood no chance against such a devastating attack, and the situation seemed hopeless. Just as the worst was about to happen, dozens of Slowpoke suddenly emerged from the crowd.

While the Slowpoke weren't as strong as the Golduck, they made up for it with their numbers.

Their combined Water Gun attacks managed to counter the incoming Hydro Pumps, neutralizing the threat.

"Slowpoke! The Slowpokes saved us!"

"I thought the Slowpokes betrayed this city?"

"Nonsense! The Slowpokes have always been protecting us!"

Cheers erupted from the fleeing civilians, their eyes filled with gratitude and admiration as though they were witnessing the actions of an Elite trainer.

Why did this city held such affection for them? Over the years, Haitian City had become home to nearly ten thousand wild Slowpoke.

The reason for this bond traced back decades, to a time when the Slowpokes saved Haitian City from a major disaster.

Since then, Slowpoke had become a symbol of the city, its unofficial guardians.

Although an unexplained phenomenon caused the Slowpokes to behave strangely this time, they never harmed a single human.

And now, they were once again standing up to protect the people, facing the same Water-types who held the same goals as them.

More and more Slowpoke emerged from the crowd.

Their vacant eyes and slow movements contrasted sharply with the unwavering resolve that drove them to confront the thousands of wild Water-types.

At the forefront of the Slowpoke, a Pokémon wearing a crown appeared, exuding a commanding aura.

"Slow!~"

It was Slowking.

With a single cry from the Slowking, the Slowpoke unleashed a coordinated Water Gun barrage.

Although their individual levels were low, the opposing Water-types lacked unity, while the Slowpoke were following their king's commands. The coordinated attack pushed the Water-types back, forcing them to retreat.

But the attack was far from over.

"Slow!~"

With another calm yet authoritative call from Slowking.

Eight Slowbro emerged from the ranks of Slowpoke, stepping forward to face the advancing Water-types.

With so many wild Slowpoke in the area—nearly 10,000—it was inevitable that a few lucky ones had managed to catch a Shellder on their tails, evolving into Slowbro.

The eight Slowbro present were all at the Advanced level. Together, they unleashed Ice Beam, causing the temperature around them to plummet dramatically.

The Water-type Pokémon that had been drenched earlier from the Slowpoke's Water Guns now found themselves in a dire predicament. The lingering moisture on their bodies caused the freezing process to accelerate under the barrage of icy attacks.

The ground also became a frozen sheet of ice. Many Water-types attempting to move forward slipped and fell on the slick surface. As one toppled, it dragged others down with it, setting off a domino effect.

Entire sections of the advancing horde collapsed in a chaotic mess.

"Slow!~"

Slowking raised its gaze to the sky, giving a commanding cry.

"Dragonite, it's our turn, Draco Meteor!" Julian ordered.

Dragonite's mouth glowed as it formed a brilliant golden sphere of energy. The orb shot into the sky and exploded, scattering fiery meteors across the battlefield.

The meteors crashed into the fallen Water-types, carving craters several meters wide with each impact.

In a single round of Draco Meteor, nearly half of the Water-types were incapacitated. Casualties were inevitable as some Pokémon succumbed to their injuries.

Julian remained calm, his expression indifferent as he observed the devastation. He felt no pity for the Pokémon that had perished.

In situations like this, unnecessary kindness could very well cost you your life.
