Chapter 2 - S1E1

October 15, 2010

They say High School changes you but I am not sure if its true. I just started 10th grade but I don't feel changed a bit. My relationships haven't changed as well. Neither my hobbies or aspirations. Everything is okay.

My full name is Michelle Jasmine Kaye, but people call me Miki. I am 15 years old girl and I live in Toronto. My parents are Greg and Katie. He is a mechanic while she is a kindergaten teacher. They are very good parents, tought they still treat me like a child when I am actually 15.

My friends are Kelsey, Emma and Jackie.

Kelsey is Greek-Ashkenazi Jewish from her father's side and Norwegian-African American from her mother's side. She is a melting pot of culture.

Emma is a very studious girl who always get the higher grades. She lives with her mother Dana. Her father run away when Dana discovered her pregnancy and her parents helped her. They are currently dead: her grandpa died on February 9, 2010 due to leukemia while her gradma killed herself on April 2, 2010 in order to go after her husband. She is still a bit shaken from the events, but is doing better.

Jackie is very quiet and barely talks. She is very sensitive tought and cries easily.

That Friday, I was going to school like any other morning.

It just happened to see a boy once inside school. A dark-skinned boy who wore a red shirt, jeans and sneakers.

Our eyes met and I was amazed. I never had a crush for a guy before and I still can't understand why I felt that attraction.

"Hi, I am Greg" He said, hinting a smirk.

"Uhm... Miki" I said "You have the same name of my father".

Greg chuckled.

"Really?" He asked jockingly.

I nodded a bit in awe.

"Well... Are you new?" I asked him.

"Yep" He mouthed.

"Where are you from?" I asked again.

"Harlem" He said.

"I heard about it. Is it a good place?" I asked.

"Kinda. It depends" He vaguely said.

"On what?"

Before he could answer, Kelsey, Emma and Jackie appeared.

"Let's go Miki!" Kelsey yelled.

"We are going to be late to Ms Nelson-Grivogiannis' class" Emma said.

"Also know as my mother's class" Said proudly Kelsey. She really took seriously her mother being a teacher in her High School.

"Sure I'm coming" I mouthed.

I glanced at Greg one last time and then we left.

"Do you like him?" Kelsey asked.

"Kelsey mind your own business" I said "Why can't you be a bit more like Jackie?".

Jackie in the meanwhile was assorted in her own bubble as usual. She was oblivious of the world near her.

For the rest of the day, the only thing I tought about was Greg.

I wanted to see him again.
