After some weeks of meeting Rose, we became closer. Close to the extent that other students thought we were in a relationship. At first, I thought some seniors would come after me claiming Rose is theirs. But strangely enough, they did not. I was then wondering, why were there obsessed with Katy and not with Rose? Well, maybe it was for the best. My high school life had always been like that.
"You are not going anywhere this weekend, are you?" She asked.
"If you are inviting me to a party, I politely decline. "
"No. I was wondering if I could come to your home." She replied. What! My home? If she came to my home, then what happens? Everyone would have the whole idea wrong. Lily would begin to question me, Diane would get out of bed to have a few words with her, Mother would be forced to cook a good meal (maybe that was right).
"No, you can't!" I said.
"I can't? Why?"
"Actually, my family does not like guests. "
"Really? I heard a girl named Diane was staying with you. "
"What? Where did you hear that from?"
"Is it not obvious? John told me, almost everyone in the school knows. "
"Then, Katy knows?"
"Who is Katy? Your girlfriend?"
"You don't know who Katy is? If Katy figures out, I am doomed for. "
"Katy? I should meet that person, don't you think?"
"Keep it a secret. Don't tell anyone. "
"I am sure that Katy girl would have known about it. You still don't want her to know?"
"The chances are fifty to fifty. If Katy heard, she would have spoken up. If she hasn't, it would be the best to find all ways not to let her hear. "
"Then, spread a rumor. "
"What kind of rumor?"
"A rumor that says the person living with you is not Diane, a make up story to cover it up. "
"A makeup story? That sounds legit. " If I had to make up a story, what would it be? What would be the perfect rumor? But, what if Katy had heard from one of her friends, how on earth would I convince her it was not true? What if she went to my house to check herself? All those questions were hard to answer. It would really not be a good thing if Diane's father figure out she was with us? My family might be threatened. And we might also be a victim, who knows?
"You could say you have a cousin named Diane, and she came for a visit."
"That is not a good idea, Katy knows my home."
"Really? Then, relocate. " She said it like it was nothing. Houses were very expensive by that time, what? We should relocate? It did not make perfect sense? Was money something we could pluck or we could make slacking off? Instead of replying, I smirked, tapped her on the shoulders and left.
I really did not know what to do. I could just make a deal with her and make her promise not to inform anyone about it. But, that was not a good idea. Katy was not to be trusted. If I hadn't heard Rose saying it, then I would not be troubled and concerned. The worst part was Rose meeting Katy. I knew it was deliberate just to hear her own words.
"Hi. I am Rose Mackenzie, nice to meet you. "
"Do we have to exchange pleasantries? I have heard about you and I know you have also heard about me."
"Oh! You have? I really have the slightest idea. "
"Did Ewan ask you to approach me?"
"No. What make you think so?"
"You and him seems close. Are you dating?"
"If we are, so what?"
"So, I guess you wanted to meet his ex girlfriend for advice, right?"
"You are his ex, I really don't know. Wow! So, you dated Ewan? How was it?"
"It was not that bad. You know, I became fed up of him and broke up with him. He is really naive. "
"Did you two ever kiss?"
"Yes. We did. Even if he did not want to, judging by my character, he would. And I am very pretty, he would not want to miss to kiss my lips. I can bet he could not even stand to kiss you!"
"Really? I also kissed him. Since we are dating, we also kissed. We did other things together too. Like going on a date, spending the night together. And you know I am like a goddess, he could not resist me. I can bet you two did not go on a date."
"We went on dates. We also had steamy nights together. It is not only you. And almost everyone in this school likes me, unlike you, you are not even the talk of the town. "

It went on like that. I could not tell who won. Honestly, I thought Rose would approach her to ask whether she knew or not. But, it was totally different. It was like a contest on who was prettier. Rose did not know who she was playing with, she told Katy she was dating me. Before the day ended, rumors were all over the school that I and Rose were dating. I did not know that was the rumor she was trying to create. Nevertheless, Rose and I made good friends. And if I could chose between her and Katy, I would chose her. Katy was nothing to write home about. And to be honest, we never kissed neither did we have steamy nights together.
