Chapter 3 - Massacre and Archdemon

[System] The green goblins have used 'Furious screech', all of your stats have decreased by 10% and they have gained buff.

All of a sudden, the green goblins let out a loud ear-jamming sound; this decreased our stats by 10%.

"Damn...Shitheads!" Our historical teacher, Woo Chioul, cursed under his breath. Once again, with the help of the system, I scrutinize his stats inquisitively.

 [System]

Name: Woo Chioul

Age: 28

Unique attribute: Brute strength lvl 2, Fast learner lvl 1 [rare]

Overall stats: Strength lvl 5 Agility lvl 5 Mana lvl 5

Skills: blood manipulation [epic]

[All stats have been decreased by 10%.]

As I scanned through his unique, I got flabbergasted; where I had none, he owned not one, but two. On top of that, he had a rare skill, which made me think he might possess exceptional talent and potential. His blood manipulation skills add spice to my eyes; he was a prodigy.

"Baek Seong." As I was appraising his potential, he called out to me.

"Yeah." Looking in his direction, I answered.

"You... don't seem to have an attribute yet, am I right?" Mr. Woo Chioul took a step closer to me with a serious expression. He leaned in and spoke in a low voice, so only I could hear.

"Yeah, that's right." I was dumbfounded by his question. I replied, hiding my surprised expression.

"It seems you don't have any skills either."

"No, I don't; why do you ask?" I shook my head, slightly rattled by his questions.

"Don't you know about...the system shop?" His eyes widened; a shock was available in his eyes as he asked.

"System Shop?" Mr. Woo Chioul's question caught me off guard. I scratched my head, eyebrows furrowed.

He looked even more shocked hearing my response.

"You don't know about the system shop. How did you survive until now?" Mr. Woo paused for a moment before continuing, "I see... Let me explain. The system shop is a place where you can purchase skills, techniques, and even attributes and other useful things like weapons."

"There's a catch," he again said, arousing my interest. I knew that if the system offered so much, there obviously would be another side of the coin.

"What kind of catch?" leaning slightly forward, I asked.

"The catch is nothing comes for free. Every skill, weapon, and attribute comes at a steep price." He spoke with a smirk.

"Steep price," I asked with curiosity. Mr. Woo pursed his lips, considering his next words carefully.

"It depends on what you're buying; some skills might be affordable, but others... they might cost you an arm and leg literally.".

"The system shop uses its currency...The coins everyone is provided with are 8,500 each.

"oh, by the way," He said casually, "Don't spend all your coins in one place; the system shop is a tricky place."

"Those coins are valuable; you need to spend them wisely. And remember"

"Once you buy something, there is no turning back." His expression became serious.

As I was listening to Mr. Woo Chioul's words, the sounds of a fight reached my ears. As I turned to look, Lee Sehyung's group was struggling against the goblin. I felt an urge to join the fight, but I had to buy some abilities, I muttered. 'System Shop' the translucent window pops up.

 [System Shop]

Skills:

1. Hell Smash E+ -60000

Attribute:

1. Blessing of Goddess Hestia (S+): 2.5 million

Weapons:

1. Amaterasu the Slayer (B+): 1 million

2. The Long Sword of Shadow(E): 7,500 {special effect: killed monster would give double the coin than average}

[On Your Current Level, You can Buy Only skills and weapons]

I stared at the shop window, my mind spinning at the sheer number of available items. I couldn't help but gape at the prices—60,000 coins for a skill and 2.5 million for an attribute! I almost choked at the numbers. The prices were insane, and I knew I had just 8,500 coins.

My eye caught sight of a weapon called 'Long Sword of Shadow'. It was the thing within my capabilities, and on top of that, it could double the amount of coins I would gain by slaying monsters. Without a second thought, my finger went for it. In an instant, the system asked me if I wanted to purchase the item, and I answered in the affirmative.

A message appeared in the system shop after I accepted the purchase.

[The Long Sword of Shadow has been successfully purchased.]

I almost shouted in surprise.

"It was that easy..."

After purchasing it from the shop, it appeared in the inventory. Then I equipped it; at a glance, it seemed like a normal long sword, but actually, it had this shadow around the sword coating it upon swinging.

I joined the fight lastly, "Sehyung leave the east area to me."

Sehyung nodded,

It had been 20 minutes since the fight had started. A swarm of hobgoblins were coming in my direction. I charged with my newly acquired weapon. With the help of a single swing, the hobgoblins were sent flying. Not only that, after being hit by my attack, the shadow effect was still hurting them each second.

  [System]

The hobgoblins had been infected with shadow paralysis, and

each second they receive damage.

[You have received 300 coins]

[You have received 300 coins]

[You have received 300 coins]

My eyes widened as I glanced at the system screen. I didn't expect it to have a hidden effect, and on top of that, I was taking full advantage of the coin double ability of the sword.

"Damn...How did you buy that crazy thing? Does the shop have anything like this?" Sehyung was shocked by the sight of my sword and asked Honjo Tae

"I don't think so...Even if it had, it would have to be a cheat," Honjo remarked.

With our coordinated bits of help from our classmates and professors, we could reduce the number of monsters.

  [System]

 3...

 2...

 1...

As we slew the last monster, a countdown appeared on the system screen.

[You have successfully cleared the first round.]

As a voice echoed in the room, The door became hollow and dark suddenly a light-blue portal opened. This time it was not a monster; an otherworldly entity appeared before us. He was too evil to call him an angel, too superior to call a human. As for his appearance, he had horns on both sides of his head, and his eyes had malice intentions; those eyes pierced the room with an unwavering gaze. He was floating in the space. He had a wicked grin on his face.

The devilish figure before us exudes an aura of power and malevolence; the very air around him seems to vibrate with some unseen energy. His horns, sticking outwardly on either side of his head, further enhance his demonic appearance. He floats effortlessly in the air, a stark contrast to the ground you stand on, making his dominance over the surroundings all the more apparent. His dark suit, accented by a red tie, further solidifies this impression.

"Congratulations on clearing the first scenario; as a reward, you'll get a mystery box that contains valuable skills, attributes, weapons, and so on... but before that," he chuckled and paused for a moment before continuing.

"It seems the survivors are quite big; guess the scenario was way too easy."

"The weak ones who could not even slay a mere goblin...Let us say their heads would explode, mwahahaha!" A malice laughter echoed in the room.

His expression became dark and serious; he raised his fingers above his wrist for the flick. All of a sudden, a loud splashing sound could be heard. As I spun around to see what happened, my eyes widened; it gave me shivers running down my spine. Until recently, who were standing behind their heads had exploded, and it turned into a blood fountain. The whole class turned into blood...bath. Only those who were able to slay those monsters survived, including me, Sehyung, and Mr. Woo; there were only 7 survivors. It...

It was a massacre before our very eyes.

Sehyung couldn't stay on his two feet; they were trembling intensely, and the others froze in their respective places, not able to move an inch. Before we could recover from the hideous scene the archdemon spoke, and a grin appeared on his face

[I guess the weak ones who couldn't even slay a single goblin deserved that...They failed to adapt and evolve and were holding the rest back]

His very gaze lingers in our direction. A vile smile was available on his face.

[Now the survivors who have passed, you must be curious about the mystery box I earlier spoke about?]
