"It is matchday today here in Copenhagen. Where we have the young lords of the city taking on the opposition from Germany, in the form of Borussia Dortmund." The commentator's voice sounded. Today is finally matchday and both set of players had long been on the field waiting for kick-off.
Riley settled in the visitor's bench, the pitch was not filled to the brim but you could still hear noise from the local fans. Riley was looking forward to feature in the game but had to settle for the bench. "Borussia Dortmund under 19 have a new face on the bench. A kid by the name of Riley Santos. Get this folks, the boy is 14 years old, must be one heck of a player to get promoted to the under 19's at such an age.
The match started as the home team decided to not go on the front foot, well aware of the danger the opposition posed. They passed the ball around and weren't going forward at all. The match was a bit dull for the first 20 minutes until Rafael Lubach the Dortmund defensive midfielder intercepted a pass meant for Copenhagen's number 9.
The Dortmund players recognising that this may be their chance were immediately on their bikes. Rafael scanned the field and sent a long pass to the right flank where Samuel Bamba was completely free. On receiving the ball, Samuel turned and charged at the left back.
At this point, the Dortmund bench were on their feet since this was a possible goal scoring chance. The away fans as few as they were started making noise encouraging their team to push forward. Samuel an efficient dribbler easily beat his marker and crossed the ball.
August was in the box tussling with the centre backs as he tried to make room for himself to jump and head the ball. Having a little bit of strength proved to be good for August as he made a little room for himself and he took off, jumping as high as he could. The cross wasn't perfect so the ball was behind August a little.
Realizing that, he gave up on testing the keeper and registering a shot on target. He instead headed to ball outside the box to the incoming central midfielder, Vasco Walz who's eyes had already picked up Ayukayoh Mengot who was in everyone's blindspot on the left making a run. Vasco dinked the ball over the right back who had came norrow to try and prevent the goal. Ayukayoh sensing the ball was a little further from him dived towards the ball, going for a diving header. He connected with the ball and easily sending it past the Copenhagen goalkeeper.
"Goaaaaaal, oh wow!" The commentator lost his mind and so did the travelling fans. Ayukayoh picked himself up and ran to the corner to celebrate with a backflip. Riley clenched his fist and punched the air as he and his fellow bench mates celebrated and hugged each other.
Mike was also pleased with that goal but he didn't lose his mind like the players. The celebrations quickly ended with the referee's urging, the players went back to their positions. The match restarted and Copenhagen's attack started being sharp but Dortmund defended well.
The match was quickly coming to halftime, no major events took place but the Dortmund midfield was starting to lose most of their duels and Coach Mike picked up on that. The halftime whistle sounded and the players went back in the tunnels. "Riley, stay out here and warm up. You might feature for the second half." Coach Mike said to Riley who was obviously thrilled he quickly picked up a ball and entered the pitch.
