Chapter 38 - Plan To Visit Hong-Kong

The war was over, and Ryuji really slept for three days and three nights.

It was unbelievable that Samir, who seemed to be an average, lower-middle-class person to him, actually owned a place he called a 'small apartment' in London.

Of course, it was considered an apartment in this era, but in the future, it would be a typical high-rise building.

The apartment was spacious, 100 square meters, which was a considerable sum of money at the time.

The first ray of sunlight came in the morning. Ryuji rested his arms on the pillow and looked at Diana, who was still sweetly asleep beside him. A slight curve appeared at the corner of his mouth.

Had she been dreaming sweetly?

Ryuji didn't ask for an early morning "wake-up call." He felt a bit overdrawn after the last three days.

Without waking Diana, he lay there, thinking about the future.

Judging from his lifespan, there was no doubt that he could live for a very long time. Maybe even by the time his time-traveling experience was over, he would still look 20 years old. That being the case, it was important to plan ahead.

He glanced at Diana. Since his intervention in the events surrounding Wonder Woman's story, it seemed her fate was completely different now.

Of course, "Wonder Woman 2" hadn't even been released by the time he traveled to this world.

From the information he gathered, the heroine's "boyfriend," Steve Trevor, was supposed to appear in 1984. Since he died in the first movie, the way and reason for his return were unknown.

But no matter what, Steve Trevor's fate had been altered by him, meaning there would be no Wonder Woman 2.

As for the "Cheetah" character, all Ryuji remembered was her shocking transformation in the animated series.

"Hey~~"

"Ah... Are you awake? I'm sorry to wake you up." Ryuji quickly withdrew his hand.

He had subconsciously reached out while thinking about Cheetah's transformation.

"What are you thinking about?" Diana asked, still lying next to him, though her face was already filled with confusion.

The war was over, and her mission to kill Ares was complete. Standing by the sea, looking out over the Atlantic Ocean, she found herself wondering, where was home?

Where was Paradise Island? She had long since lost her way.

In the vast 91.65 million square kilometers of the Atlantic Ocean, how could she possibly find a small island of only a few square kilometers? Although it was closer to the UK, that was still a massive search area.

The island was so small in comparison to the ocean.

She couldn't find her way home, so she had to stay in the human world.

She was confused about how to "live," as though her sole purpose was to defeat Ares, and now that her mission was over, her heart felt empty. It was easy to leave Paradise Island, but nearly impossible to return. Who knew where the island was in the vastness of the Atlantic? A heroine stranded in the human world would now face the problem of how to live.

Money?

With her strength, she could control a multinational conglomerate easily, but she certainly wouldn't do that. If she did, she wouldn't be Wonder Woman anymore.

Ryuji was also confused about his own future. Where should he go? After all, he was just a university student when he crossed over, and now he had killed people—no, gods. It felt like he had reached the pinnacle of his life all of a sudden, but after that peak, he found himself wondering what came next.

How would he live in 1919?

Well, it was almost 1920.

Two naive souls, helpless and lost...

Of course, after defeating Ares, the God of War, he had gained a significant number of talent points, as well as an incredibly powerful ability.

[Congratulations to the host for successfully killing Ares, the 'God of War.' You have earned 365,892 talent points.]

365,892?!

Ryuji was skeptical. Why was the number so precise? But before he could celebrate, the system announced:

[Because the host collaborated with Diana to defeat Ares, this system calculates the host's contribution as half, awarding 182,946 talent points.]

What the hell?!

[Since this system helped the host upgrade the [Self-Healing Factor] talent, 100,000 talent points were deducted. The remaining points are 82,94.].

Damn! They really took away such a huge chunk!

Ryuji had thought the system was offering a free service, but it turned out it was charging for upgrades.

Still, he didn't mind. It was better than being dead, right? Despite the deductions, he still had over 80,000 points left, enough to have some fun with. He could splurge in the store... or maybe invest in some spells.

The "talent magic" in the lottery was a passive skill that grew as his rank increased. As for the spells in the store, they were fixed based on his level after purchase.

He would check out the magic in the store—maybe there was something useful.

As for the "talent magic" lottery, Ryuji wasn't in a hurry to use it. With the biggest threat removed, there was no rush to draw anything.

[Congratulations to the host for acquiring one of Ares, the God of War's talents—[Mind Control (Demigod Level)]

The previous frustration disappeared immediately.

[Mind Control (Demigod Level)]!

Though he could only wield hero-level strength for now, the potential was limitless once he advanced further!

"Are we staying in England?" Diana asked.

At this point, she was as unsure as he was.

Ryuji hesitated, then shook his head. "No, I'm going to visit Hong Kong."

"Hong Kong?"

"Yeah, a city in my home country. I think it's a British colony now, right?" Ryuji laughed.

His plan was to go to the United States eventually, as Marvel's influence spread there and the future was much more exciting. But before heading to America, he decided to visit his home country first.

World War I had happened, and World War II would follow.

In the original timeline, his home country had been severely damaged during WWII, and although that might not happen in this world, he couldn't let go of the idea. Even though his country had the protection of Kunlun and other masters, Japan also had its own share of powerful warriors. He wanted to plant a seed in his homeland, preventing the kind of tragedy that might happen in the future.

In 1919, it was still the age of warlords, but Hong Kong had already been occupied by the British.

"Are you going to rescue them from their suffering?" Diana asked, her voice filled with excitement.

"No, I just want to see it."

Kunlun had no interest in intervening, and China had its own protectors. Britain also had its own masters. Though Ryuji didn't have the best opinion of the British, he couldn't deny that they had turned a small fishing village into an international metropolis, even if it had later been poisoned by their actions.

Knock knock—

Suddenly, there was a knock at the door.

"Boss, are you awake?"

"Yes, what's the matter?"

It was Samir.

"Steve is here, and he wants to visit you."

"...?"

Visit?
