Scene 22
INT. DINING ROOM - NIGHT
The family enjoys dinner together.
SR. IGNACIO: How was your practice in New York, my grandchildren?
SABRINA: It was good, Papa. They actually improved a lot.
SR. IGNACIO: Good. I expect all my grandchildren to be talented and excel in every category.
SABRINA: How about you, Hernalyn and Benny?
Hernalyn looks at Sabrina.
SABRINA: How are you both?
HERNALYN: We're fine.
SABRINA: I heard Benny is the new director of the school. Is that right, Benny?
BENNY: Yes.
SABRINA: You'll take care of our children, Camille and Rafael, at the school.
BENNY: Of course, and I'll make sure they improve their skills.
SABRINA: And when Benedict becomes president, I'll make sure Valdez Arts High School improves even more and Valdez College of Music gets established. So, the Philippines can catch up in the field of music, or any field, for that matter. Will you cooperate, Benny?
BENNY: Of course. Actually, our school has been leading all the private schools this month.
SR. IGNACIO: This is probably the best night of my life because everyone is getting along. I hope it stays like this until my birthday. Let's cheers, everyone.
They all raise their glasses and cheers.
Scene 23
INT. BENNY'S HOUSE LIVING ROOM - NIGHT
[DOOR OPEN]
Hernalyn, Benny, and Juliana enter their home.
HERNALYN: Juliana, anak.
Juliana looks at Hernalyn.
HERNALYN: Go to your room. Your father and I have something to talk about.
JULIANA: Okay, Mommy.
Juliana looks at Benny. They exchange a sign language gesture.
Scene 24
INT. DINING ROOM - NIGHT
HERNALYN: Will you cooperate with Sabrina? (She turns to Benny.) What was that act back there?
BENNY: Why? Don't I have the right to speak? I'm a member of this family too.
HERNALYN: That's not the point.
Hernalyn turns away.
BENNY: What is it then? Why don't you just let your brother win the presidency? He's the strongest candidate, after all.
HERNALYN: You don't have any business in this.
BENNY: How can I not be involved? What if your father finds out you're against your brother's victory? Do you think he won't kill you, even though you're his daughter?
HERNALYN: Stop it. You shouldn't be involved in this situation. You should be protecting our daughter.
BENNY: Why can't I protect you anymore?
BENNY: Fine. If your brother wins, I'll resign as director and we'll leave this country. Because I love you both, and I don't want to lose you.
Benny goes upstairs. Hernalyn is left crying.
Scene 25
INT. COMFORT ROOM - NIGHT
Benny stands in front of the mirror, lost in thought.
FLASHBACK
INT. CORRIDOR - NIGHT
Benny and Sr. Ignacio walk together.
SR. IGNACIO: If I find out that Hernalyn is planning something bad, you know what will happen. I won't spare her, even if she's my daughter.
SR. IGNACIO: One thing I hate is being betrayed by my own blood. So, if your wife is planning something bad, stop her, no matter what.
BACK TO PRESENT
INT. COMFORT ROOM - NIGHT
Benny continues to think.
