Chapter 25 - 25

Lisa was drawn in by Beans' voice and listened attentively to the exam details, unaware of any changes in Ethan Wells.

Not to mention the other candidates; many looked around in surprise upon learning the exam's content.

The Trap Tower stands at least a hundred meters tall, and without stairs, descending seems impossible unless one has special tools.

However, Beans wasn't about to reveal the specifics of the Trap Tower to the candidates. After announcing the exam content, the entrance was sealed, and the airship flew away into the distance.

"Did another side achievement trigger so soon?" Ethan wasn't focused on the other candidates' reactions; instead, he was pleasantly surprised by the appearance of a new side achievement.

Though side achievements aren't as rewarding as main ones, they are akin to the Blood Bodhi and Light Spirit Fruit—top-notch rewards that make him eager.

Ethan was naturally thrilled to trigger a side achievement and carefully reviewed its details.

"Reach the bottom of the Trap Tower first, huh?! So, I need to go through the inside of the tower? That's unfortunate; otherwise, I could use the Thread Fruit to descend directly from the outside."

"Let me think. If I remember correctly, the first person to reach the bottom of the Trap Tower in the original story was Hisoka. I can't recall exactly how long it took, but given Hisoka's strength, it likely wasn't long."

"In other words, if I want to secure this side achievement, I must navigate the levels as quickly as possible to ensure success..."

Thoughts raced through his mind. After a moment, Ethan formulated a plan.

"Let's find a suitable entrance first!"

Scanning the expansive top of the tower, Ethan discreetly activated the Thread Fruit. Invisible silk threads extended from his feet, threading through the stone slab gaps like a spider's web, spreading across the tower's top.

He recalled that entering the Trap Tower required finding a rotatable stone slab, with entrances varying between single and multi-person.

"Hmm?"

As he casually strolled, Hisoka suddenly glanced down at his feet.

"Silk threads? Such an ability is..." Hisoka's eyes narrowed as he noticed the threads weaving through the stone slabs. He quickly assessed his surroundings and locked his gaze on a particular spot.

In his sight, none other than Ethan was visible.

"Interesting, he discovered it so quickly? This ability is quite handy." Hisoka's gaze lingered briefly before retracting with a faint smile.

Hisoka wasn't the only one to notice Ethan's actions.

For instance, Illumi, disguised as Gittarackur, couldn't help but glance at Ethan.

"He's the one who had a conflict with Hisoka!"

After a quick glance, Illumi retracted his gaze and began inspecting the surrounding stone slabs.

"I discovered it so quickly. Quite perceptive."

Although Hisoka and Illumi's gazes were fleeting, Ethan noticed them and mused inwardly.

Of course, he didn't dwell on it, focusing primarily on locating the entrance.

The threads weaving through the stone slab gaps easily identified rotatable slabs and even penetrated the connected rooms.

"Got it!"

Moments later, Ethan's eyes lit up. He turned to Lisa, who was nearby, and waved. "Let's go, follow me!"

With that, he swiftly moved in one direction.

"Huh?! Did you find it again?"

Lisa's eyes sparkled, and she immediately followed Ethan without hesitation.

Not far off, Ethan led Lisa to a spot on the tower's top. Stopping, he pointed to a stone slab and instructed Lisa, "You go down from here; I'll enter through another way!"

Lisa glanced at the stone slab Ethan indicated. Quick-witted, she grasped the situation immediately.

"I see, is the entrance set up like this? I'll go down first!"

With a slight smile, Lisa stepped onto the pointed stone slab. It rotated under her weight, and she descended into the tower.

Simultaneously, the rotating slab locked into place, preventing further use.

Of course, this assumes no forced destruction. Otherwise, most candidates in the third exam could easily break a mere stone slab.

Ethan naturally wouldn't break the slab, not due to exam rules, but because he had another entrance in mind.

Once Lisa entered the tower, Ethan took a few steps to a nearby stone slab.

Uh-huh!

Just like Lisa before, when he stepped onto this slab, it rotated, and Ethan descended into the tower.

The slab rotated shut, and Ethan landed smoothly within a few meters.

"Is this what's beneath the entrance..."

Lisa's voice echoed from beside him, having fallen into the same passage as Ethan.

More precisely, the two entrances Ethan chose were connected.

Using threads to explore the tower's top and then threading through the stone slab gaps into each passage, finding a "double-entry" path was easy for Ethan.

After landing, Ethan quickly surveyed the environment.

Similar to the protagonist group's passage in the original story, they found themselves in a room about the size of a bedroom.

As he scanned the surroundings, Ethan noticed a screen displaying text on one wall, with a shelf holding two bracelets beneath it.
