Chereads / Of The Night / Chapter 7 - Last Hier

Chapter 7 - Last Hier

"They began by feeding the growing discontent within Duskfall itself. For years, rumors had circulated that the rulers of the House of Night, intoxicated by their power, had begun to ignore the very people they ruled. Their star magic, so long a symbol of strength and grace, had begun to take a darker turn, growing erratic and unstable. The gravity magic, once precise and controlled, was said to warp the very land beneath them. Unrest was brewing—though none dared speak it openly. House Dusk capitalized on these murmurs, cultivating rebellion in the dark places of Duskfall, stoking flames of dissent among the lower classes and secretive factions within the city. They whispered of the corruption of the night, of the madness of the rulers."

"And then came the assassinations—quiet, subtle, staged as accidents or acts of fate. First, the minor nobility rank threes who had served the House of Night were struck down by strange forces: a merchant crushed by the sudden collapse of an enchanted pillar; a famed rank four general falling from a great height, as if gravity itself had betrayed him. These were not ordinary deaths. They were signs. House Dusk was sending a message: The House of Night was vulnerable."

"But it was House Hunt, with their unparalleled mastery of the pursuit, who took the next step. Under cover of twilight, they infiltrated the very heart of Duskfall, their agents slipping into the city like shadows, their beasts prowling in silence. The hounds of House Hunt, ancient creatures with the ability to sniff out not just flesh, but magic itself, began to circle the heart of the city. "

"Their goal was not just to break the walls of the Castle of the Stars—but to strike at its core: Nightfall, the legendary blade of the gods."

With careful precision, House Hunt's agents stalked the halls of the House of Night, evading its warded defenses and enchanted traps.

"Many great warriors engaged in melee and intense battles in the Castle of Stars, the magnificent ancient castle enchanted with many ancient forms of defense crumbled as the stars themselves and the full weight of the heavens fell upon it"

"House Hunt and Dusk had sent all their elites,"

"Lady Diana the sixteenth a rank six angel and heiress of Hunt, Commander Altus of Dusk, a rank six and many more top tier ranks to attack, your house was on a decline and thus the forces were not at their peak, caught off guard they fought for three whole days,"

House Night at their peak had seven rank sixes however at the time it fell, it had two

Lady Layla, the ruler of the night and Sir Starflower, the shining star of the night these two were at the pinnacle of rank six, each wielding immense power, they were angels, Layla wielded the shadows and darkness, while Starflower wielded the very stars and nature. They were unique mutants

To keep them encircled

"House Dawn had used their most sacred artifact, as they encircled the city ensuring no one escaped"

"Shard of the Morning to keep Duskfall in a perpetual dawn, the stars were weakened, and the shadows were lighter"

"Princess Layla a rank six and the leader of the night, fought four rank six pinnacle tiers for three days and three night straight in the throne room of the shadows she took out three of them, only Diana survived"

In the castle their battle was barley contained. When angels fight, the world trembles, and lady Layla used all her might at no expense, people who saw the battle saw her valiantly slay three angels only to lose in a direct clash with Diana, the shadows cried when Layla died.

Sir Starflower faced off against two Angels of Hunt and an Angel of Dawn Knight of the Morning, the Sunkissed Sir Solaris, in the end only the Angel of Dawn remained.

Sir Starflower lost in a clash of their ultimate skills, his ultimate versus the three ultimates of the other angles,

Ill tell you the name of his ultimate skill,

[Eater of Stars]

If it wasn't for Solaris's ultimate skill [Sunfall] the whole region of this realm might have been wiped off the map.

"The very stars dimmed, and the shadows cried as the Leaders of House Night fell. Nightfall however was nowhere to be found."

"The blade Nightfall, so long an emblem of power, disappeared and the great houses still search to this day as they know that the seizing of Nightfall would signal the fall of the House itself. But lady Layla Umbra of the Night, whom I greatly admired sought me out hours prior to the raid she told me about the means for one to recover the blade."

"I remember how Powerless I felt, me a rank six angel who could not help the women I loved,"

Angels were prohibited from joining in other conflicts unless there was a mutual official alliance, if this broke, the realms would deem you an enemy and you would he hunted down, this was a precaution to stop an all-out war between angels.

The forges flamed suddenly flickered and danced as they dimmed down again, Odin was saddened at the thought of her, the magic in the air had a mysterious aura to it, the air excited almost

"The final blow was swift and devastating. As House Dusk's agents caused chaos throughout the city—disrupting star-fueled wards and unraveling spells with darkened magic—the House Hunt's hunters struck. And exterminated everyone."

"With the fall of Castle of the Stars, the night was no longer ruled by the House of Night. House Dusk claimed the throne. Their victory, however, was not celebrated with fanfare, but with a quiet, chilling acceptance of their new power. Duskfall was now their city—reborn from the ashes of their rivals."

But the destruction was not without consequence. The House of Hunt, having aided in the betrayal, withdrew into the wilds three angels short, their alliance with House Dusk cemented, yet their hunger for further conquest left unsatisfied. House Dusk two angels short, yet more powerful than ever, knew that they had severed one chain only to bind themselves to another. The dark forces they had unleashed would not easily be contained, and the void left by the fall of the House of Night could never truly be filled.

The stars above Duskfall still flickered with the faintest light of a time long past. They were reminders of the power once held by the House of Night, and the price paid for that power. Now, under House Dusk's rule, the world would watch and wait, for though the House of Night was gone, the shadows of its legacy would continue to haunt the night.

And in the distance, the hounds of House Hunt still ran, ever in pursuit of something greater, something beyond the shadows. Always hunting. Always waiting.

Once the House of Night had been destroyed and House Dusk stood victorious, House Dawn continued to play the role of the unseen hand in Duskfall. They acted as intermediaries, ensuring that power remained in check and the delicate balance of the day and night was respected. With House Dusk ruling in the shadows, House Dawn became the keepers of the light—their representatives holding positions of influence in every major kingdom, ensuring that the peace would be maintained.

House Dawn's 2 angles short yet their power grew not through conquest or war, but through control of information, through diplomacy, through their mastery of timing and patience. They remained the architects of peace, subtly guiding the world to a new order that, while born from the destruction of the House of Night, would not be consumed by chaos.

In the courts of House Dusk, it was House Dawn's emissaries who were the true power behind the throne. In the bustling markets of Duskfall, it was their influence that kept the new order from descending into ruin. And as the city recovered from the ashes of the old regime, it was House Dawn who ensured that the stars would continue to shine at night, while the sun would rise in the morning, bringing light and hope to all who remained.

Though House Dawn's role in the fall of the House of Night was never made public, it is said that the final agreement between House Dusk and House Dawn was sealed with a subtle yet powerful exchange: House Dusk gained the throne of Duskfall, but House Dawn gained influence over the future. The ruling family of House Dusk became more powerful than ever, but House Dawn ensured that no single house would ever hold absolute control over the city again.

This balance, carefully crafted in the shadows, ensured that the world would not fall prey to the arrogance and ambition that had led to the fall of the House of Night. It was a balance between night and day, between shadow and light, between chaos and order. And it was House Dawn that held the strings of this delicate balance in their hands—working, waiting, ever watchful, ensuring that the world would never tip too far into darkness again.

In the end, House Dawn, though never the center of the story, was the true master of it. Their power lay not in their armies, their beasts, or their magic, but in their ability to see the long game, to know when to strike and when to wait. And with their quiet intervention, the world was saved from the chaos that might have followed the destruction of the House of Night.

For though the night had fallen, the dawn was always just beyond the horizon.

"Yet, even in their fall, the House of Night left a mark upon the world, a shadow cast long upon the earth. The stars above still shimmer with the faintest pulse of their magic. Some say, on nights when the sky is dark and the stars shine too brightly, that one can still feel their power, a flicker of something older than the heavens themselves. I sense It within you, that profound power."

"You are greatly blessed young one, for you are of both Umbra and Nyx"

"The blade, Nightfall, still lies in the ruins of the great castle, where only those with the courage—or madness—to seek it, might find it once more. Some speak of strange omens that come on the wind, of lightning that flickers in the distance and shadows that seem to move of their own accord. Perhaps the blade stirs, even now, as it waits for a new hand to claim it, be warned however, the ruin of the castle are mysterious and dangerous beyond repair, Afterall angles fought and died there, the concepts at play and the level of magic that is remaining is no joke, The Castle is sealed off at the top of the twilight platue above the city, it has been veiled by Dusk,"

"Umbra and Nyx that divine yet profane couples' bloodline still lives on through you..."

Astra felt the magic in the air almost gasp as Odin narrowed his eyes

Unimaginable power flooded the forge room

"Kneel" spoke Odin his words again infused with power and the weight of the world itself

Astra instantly hit the hard cold floor barley managing breathing, the Great Forge behind the old ruler of House Steel ignited with an intense and bright brilliance it as it continued to shine even brighter as the fire inside Odin seemed to grow, the air grew heavy, and the fire grew hotter

Suddenly the floor was not so cold anymore and astra felt as if was transported to the heart of a great Volcano

This was the true aura of an angel. A rank six Grandmaster of the forge, this was the very presence of Odinson Steel!

Odin's deep blue eyes locked into Astra violet eyes, Odin's eyes grew even more intense Astra felt scared, yet strangely excited

"Astra, I made a promise to your ancestor, Layla"

"The promise was to entrust the Night onto the remaining members of the house, those bastards of hunt were very thorough…..but someone managed to escape the hunters pursuit"

"Astra, brace yourself,"

....

"Accept your destiny"

"As an Angel of Steel and the old patriarch of House Steel, I hereby declare you Astra, as the Last Hier of the Night, Ruler of the Stars and Lord of Shadows, Let the dead gods Umbra and Nyx shoulder the burden and Mana be the witness"

Suddenly there was a change in reality, the words of power from a pinnacle tier angel influenced the very world

The shadows grew deeper and danced Odin felt numerous gazes from indescribable and infinite heights land upon him, his aura flaring in response to an such an extent it caused the air to shake and the world to brace itself, the stars above Duskfall shone with such a brilliance they seemed to Peirce the veil of twilight that covers the city.

Odin ignored the pressure from these gazes as his own aura fought off the pressure "heh"

"Rise Now young Amir, for you are now Astra Noctis the last heir of the Night. The Lord of Shadows"
