The school festival has been a tradition at the shinobi academy for a long time, it started the year after Tobirama Senju died to be exact. it is done to commemoration everything he has done for the village and its people.
And true to his character, each year the students have to come up with new and creative ideas for it. Based on their classes, they set up themed stalls for their respective classes.
And although students have to setup 'stall' it is not actually a stand or as you know a stall. Stall is loosly used as a way to describe it.
In actuallty it can be anything. From fighting ground, ninjutsu competion, tea ceremony, shinobi, to friendships, to literal elements and consepts like fire, water, and speed to strength. As I said before it does not even have to be 'stall'.
It is used to describe place or section where they have set it up. They just have to technicaly follow what defines a 'stall' in the rule/guide book. The definition of 'stall' in the books are quote on quote :-
It has to be a physical place where people can visit.
It has to have stuff that people can interact with.
It has to have people be able to buy something from it.
Lets just say that since nowhere is it written to have it be an actual 'stand' they can get away with almost anything.
Once, it was noticed students began to abuse the hell out of it, and took creative approchs to circumnavigate the rules. In non-stalls, its workers will give you give you water and you will pay them with compliments.
Although the school festival doesn't involve any ranking or competition, the students, being around ten years old, still have a natural sense of rivalry. This annual event is something they put a lot of thought and preparation into, often planning for it well in advance.
Though they do have unofficial ranking. That is how many compliments their 'stall' gets. Don't think they can make up numbers to increase their ranking. It is kinda huge deal. So, when people compliment some 'stall' they are marked down by classroom teacher. So, it is kind of fair.
The school itself does not decide on theme. It is decided by students itself. They have to figure out on what theme they want their 'stall' to be. To top it all off and to keep it interesting one theme is only allowed to be used one time in every three years.
The shinobi academy itself is quite large, occupying a significant portion of the northern part of the Leaf Village. When I looked north, I could see the stone statues of the four Hokages, carved so vividly that from a distance, one could almost feel a sense of awe emanating from them.
This sense of awe, however, didn't come from all four Hokages' statues but specifically from the statue of Hashirama Senju.
I stared at the statue for a moment, then raised an eyebrow and couldn't help but mutter softly, " does Hashirama "I have the most aggressive morning wood" Senju, be actually true?..."
Shaking off my weird thoughts, I continued wandering around the campus. Amidst the bustling crowd, I occasionally spotted a few other staff members like myself, tasked with maintaining order.
"Sasuke-kun from Class S is so handsome today!" Fangurl 1 exclaimed.
"Such a perfect man, he's exactly what I desire!" Fangirl 2 chimed in.
"I want to bear Sasuke's children!" Fangirl 3 concluded...
I chewed on a strangely serrated leaf with a sharp, earthy taste I had picked up from someone in not so suspicious hood, leisurely walking and listening to the school's fangirls gushing over the "sasugay."
Wandering left and right through the campus, the kids of the Leaf Village were surprisingly well-behaved, with no major incidents requiring my intervention.
my eyes darted around like that of a average Vegas homeless person, and I spat out the 'dry grass' I had been chewing. I talk to myself aloud, "This is too good to good of a time to waste. Maybe I should find a place to write 'The Love Story of the Leaf Village'?"
As soon as the what I said crossed my mind, I acted on it. Having been on frequent missions and completing many tasks at the shinobi academy, I was quite familiar with the place.
The most tranquil spot in the shinobi academy was a cherry blossom grove near the training ground, complete with wooden benches for resting. It was the perfect place for me to relax during my break.
The kids here, even if they argued, would likely just engage in minor scuffles. Besides, Iruka had hired other people besides me, and during my rounds, I could sense that most of them were at the genin level, with at least one chūnin overseeing things.
In addition to that, there were also two teachers from the shinobi academy keeping an eye on things, so there was no chance of anything major happening. Therefore, I decided that was enough of a reason and found a quiet spot and decided to take a little "break."
Autumn is the season of withering. The entire cherry blossom grove, which once boasted pink blossoms in spring, now only had yellow leaves. As the wind blew, the rustling sound of leaves could be heard, and occasionally, a few would fall by his side.
After stretching, I unzipped the backpack I had been carrying and took out the notebook and pen I had used yesterday. I flipped to the page where I had left off last night and continued writing "The Love Story of the Leaf Village."
"Eiji Nagao, in order to improve his living standards, bid farewell to..."
With my memory protection skill, I had already outlined the entire adaptation of the book last night, enriching the characters and locations.
So now, my thoughts were clear, and I didn't encounter any writer's block when I started to adapt it for this world.
However, writing with pen and paper was still somewhat slow.
After about an hour, I had only written four pages, and I hadn't even reached the part where Rika met Eiji Nagao. my wrist were already sore from continuous writing.
I raised my head to loosen my neck and started rotating my wrist, letting out a sigh of relief.
"Writing a novel is not only a mental task but also a physical one, even more so when you are trying to change everything about it accept its essence." I muttered.
Just as I was about to continue writing, a sudden sound of argument piercing my ears, causing my eyebrows to raise.
Could it be that someone was actually fighting?
I quickly packed up my notebook and pen, slung my backpack over my shoulders, and slowly followed the source of the argument.
If this had happened elsewhere, I might not have intervened, but since it was happening right under my nose, and since their seems to be no one stopping it, I had to check it out.
As I Emerged from the cherry blossom grove, the sound grew louder. When I reached a corner, I stopped and calmly peeked out. my eyes lit up with interest when I saw the scene.
Ino, Sakura, and three unfamiliar girls, all looking about the same age, were standing there. But what was going on? The two groups seemed ready to fight.
With Sakura behind her, Ino frowned and said to the three girls in front, "Reiko, Chisaki, Yumiko, what do you want? Bullying someone secretly here? Be careful, or I'll tell Iruka-sensei."
"What's the big deal?" Yumiko, standing in the middle of the three, crossed her arms and said darkly, "Ino, aren't you and the wide-forehead rivals? Don't meddle in other people's business, or you'll regret it!"
Sakura, being called "wide-forehead," had a flash of sadness in her watery eyes, but it quickly disappeared. She felt a warmth in her heart for Ino's help.
Her red shinobi outfit was covered in dust, as if they had already fought. She stepped forward, pushing Ino aside, pretending to be angry, "I don't need your help! I won't thank you! Sasuke is mine!"
Ino stumbled and took a step to the side, steadying herself.
She clenched her fists, feeling a flash of sadness, and shouted, "Why did you push me, wide-forehead! Do you think I wanted to help you? If it weren't for us being in the same class, I wouldn't bother!"
After saying that, Ino stomped her foot in frustration, her mouth curling up in a proud manner. Then she turned to Yumiko, Chisaki, and Reiko and said angrily, "Anyway, I won't let anyone bully my classmates."
Chisaki raised her sleeve, covering her mouth with a sly smile, and said softly, "Is Class S so great? If Ino weren't the daughter of the Yamane family, could she have gotten into Class S on her own? And we girls from Class A aren't easy to deal with. I hate how fake people like you get to be in the same class as Sasuke-kun!"
Reiko was even more direct. She gathered her chakra mobilizing through her entire body and assumed a fighting stance, facing Sakura and Ino.
She let out a cold laugh and said, "Let's see who from academy is worthy to stand by Sasuke-kun's side!"
