The first thing Caleb noticed when he woke up was how...soft everything felt. The sheets caressed his skin like silk and the air smelled like cherry blossom perfume...her scent. That was strange enough. But what threw him off? His chest felt heavier.
Caleb rubbed his eyes.
"Wait...what?" he thought.
His hands weren't his hands. They looked delicate, soft and polished. His heart raced as he slowly sat up, something bouncing on his chest.
Immediately, his eyes scanned around the room. His eyes widened in shock. The walls were a soft pastel purple colour. This room was covered in beauty products from a face cream, to a lotion to moisturizing lip gloss. A 'Toji' nightlight glowed in the corner.
"Heh so far the nightlight is the only good thing in this bedroom. Eh what am I saying? I'm too old for this shit." he said, a high pitched voice escaping his lips.
As he swung his legs over the side of the bed, something brushed against his neck. He jumped and grabbed the back of his back of his neck only to grab a handful of...blonde hair?
Rushing to the mirror across the room, he stumbled slightly, his balance was off. His hips swayed more they used to, and he nearly tripped over his own feet.
There in the mirror stood the girl he once knew staring back at him in horror.
"Lily! Even my mind is playing tricks on me!" he cried.
But then a thought hit him...a dangerous thought.
"Damn that bitch was hot though..."
Once those words slipped out of his mouth, he just couldn't help himself.
"This must be a dream but if it is..."
His eyes fell onto his chest.
"I wonder what this babe's snuggling down there."
He instinctively pushed his hand into his bra and gave a small squeeze.
"They're so fucking soft!" he looked at his hand and then sighed, "Man, I wish I was a guy right now."
"Hm men."
Caleb screamed and looked around trying to figure out where that voice came from, grabbing a comb as a weapon.
"Scared? How typical." the voice sneered.
His face went red, his hands still clasped onto the comb.
"Relax Caleb. I'm not going to hurt you...although I should after you fricking assaulted me!"
"Who are you? Where are you! Oh you must think you're tough hiding from me huh?"
The voice kept its silence before bursting into snorting and that's when he finally realized the voice was-
"Lily? If this is a joke it isn't funny you stupid bitch!"
"Do you seriously think this is a joke? The last thing I would want is for the man of my dreams to watch me fall to my demise without saving me to wake up as me!" Lily hissed.
Caleb glanced around her room. He knew she was right. He watched her die and instead of confessing his crime to the cops, he ran. He ran like the coward he was.
Tears prickled down his cheeks. He could hear her sweet voice and he could see her but she wasn't really her, just an empty vessel he was forced to live in.
That was when he heard a knock on the door that caused him to gasp.
"U-um is someone there?" a woman's trembling voice asked.
"Quick hide! I'm supposed to be dead so if my mom sees me up and breathing she'll freak out!"
Without thinking, Caleb hid under the bed. Dust clung to his face as he held his breath, his nose twitching.
The door creaked slowly, the soft glow from the living room spilling into the room. He could just make out her slippers pacing across the floor.
Just when Lily's mother was about to leave...
"ACHOO! Shit."
An arm lunged for his throat.
"What are you! Burn in hell!"
"MICHAEL! Why in the world is Lily alive!" Lily's mother yelled.
Caleb barely had time to think, he headbutted her and ran through the window, the glass sticking to his skin. As he managed to land on the grass, an intense pain shot through his ankles but he didn't have time for that. The sound of the door slamming open fueled his adrenaline.
"Where'd it go!" the father boomed.
"Out the window!"
Caleb limped toward the fence, adrenaline numbing the pain. He hoisted himself over just as the back door burst open.
Breathing hard, Caleb ducked into the nearest alley.
"Damn even I wouldn't have jumped off a two story house."
"SHUT UP!" his voice shaky, blood dripping from his hands.
"I'm sorry you're hurt but hey look at the bright side. You didn't die."
"This is all your fault."
"EXCUSE ME?!"
The argument was cut short by the sound of sirens in the distance. Caleb's stomach sank.
"They called the cops," he whispered.
"Just stay out of sight. We'll figure out what's going on later."
Caleb leaned against the alley way, his mind going insane. Whatever was happening, one thing was clear...his life, and Lily's would never be the same.
