Chapter 1 - Dream

A bloodied young man was sitting on the ground of what seemed to be a ruined battlefield as he let out a long sigh.

'I failed'

Gazing at all the destruction around, Luck couldn't help but feel a sense of helplessness. He didn't particularly care about any of the people that might have died but there was still a feeling of regret deep inside him.

'I'm about to die'

Although Luck was about to died he wasnt afraid at all. As someone who had been trained not to show his emotions he eventually didn't feel much of anything so even in his death he still felt nothing.

Actually he did feel something, even if he did not know it a certain feeling crept up in his mind. It didn't take long for him to realise what that feeling was

Regret

'I'm sorry Lyanna'

Luck only had one regret. That he couldn't save his sister in the end. At that moment Luck turned to look at the gaping hole in his chest and chucked lightly

'I won't be alive for very long now'

Just when Luck closed his eyes to be resigned to his fate, a bright light suddenly enveloped him as he felt his entire body disintegrate. He was slightly shocked at the situation but didn't think too much of it

After all he was already about to die.

However it seemed that fate had other plans for him as he found himself in a starless void a moment later. He didn't even have time to process what was around him before a bright light suddenly enveloped him for the second time. Only this time, he lost consciousness as soon as it did.

'Ugh my head'

Luck woke up feeling a sharp pain in his neck as he quickly stood up and observed his surroundings.

'What the fuck, where is this? And how am I alive?'

He was surrounded by vast plains with nothing but grass in sight. The sun hanged high amidst the blue sky as Luck gazed at the beautiful scenery.

He quickly realised that he was naked and his fatal wound had healed not even leaving a scar. Naturally Luck was quite surprised at this development but didn't think too much about it. The most important thing was to find shelter.

With that Luck picked a random direction and kept walking. He walked for about 3 hours encountering nothing on his way. He was starting to get annoyed at the whole situation but still kept walking.

After a few minted he came across a mango tree.

'Finally something to eat'

Luck was quite happy with his new discovery and immediately began scaling the tree. Moat of the mangoes on the tree weren't ripe so he spent quite some time looking for the ones that were edible and in tge end he managed to gather 5 ripe mangoes.

Although they were on the smaller side he wasnt in a position to be picky.

Luck climbed back down the tree and rested under it to protect himself from the unforgiving rays of sunlight.

He then proceeded to peel of the skin of the fruit with his teeth before studying the fruit closely to confirm whether it was spoilt or not.

After confirmation he quickly sank his teeth into the mango. He hurriedly chewed the soft part of the fruit before sucking all the juices from the seed.

After eating the first mango he swiftly peeled the second mango and repeated the process of checking its quality, consuming tye soft part of the fruit and sucking the juices out of the seed. He did this for the next few fruits before finally letting out a satisfied sigh.

'That was soo good'

He was still in the middle of relishing the taste of the fruits he just consumed when he heard a loud noise that sounded like a warthog. He quickly climbed up the tree too get a good view of where the sound was coming from. And to his surprise he finally saw something that wasn't a plant.

A giant warthog that looked as big as a lion was charging towards Luck at frightening speed. He instantly recognised this to be a mana beast but there was something distinct about this beasts aura. It seemed foreign and abnormal.

Seeing the obvious malice the beast was giving off. Luck began to circulate mana around his body -or at least tried to.

'What the,... no way'

It was then that he realised he had no control of his mana or rather he couldn't even feel it in the first place. No he did feel something but that something wasn't mana. He was sure of it. This left Luck confused and anxious in this situation.

'It'll pass'

He could only hang around the top of the tree and hope the creature would pass. Even though he tried to encourage himself he didn't have much hope that the beast would simply ignore them or would not notice his presence. He did not even entertain the thought of running since he knew that he would not be able to out run the monster especially in his weakened state. And the lack of mana was not helping the situation.

After a few minutes the beast arrived beneath the tree and began sniffing the area he was in minutes ago. Luck heaved a sigh of relief as the beast didn't seem to have noticed him at the moment.

The mana beast began to sniff the mango seeds Luck had left on the ground before chewing them. The sound of the seeds breaking under its strong jaws made him even more anxious. The mana beast soon began circling around the tree before flicking it's head in Lucks direction.

Luck drew in a sharp breath upon making eye contact with the beast. Luck stared at the beast intently but he didn't panic he was incredibly sensible. He released some of his killing intent at the beast but to his surprise the beast didn't run off but immediately began slamming into the mango tree trying to destroy it.

'That's wierd does this beasts not have any instincts, why is it not running'.

Luck was quite surprised at the outcome since the beast acted in a totally different way then he could have thought.

Luck was one of the most prolific killers of his time killing more people than the population of a small country so his killing intent was extremely dreadful and maddening.

'First that wierd mana and now this'

He was beginning to think that the beast wasn't actually a mana beast but something else.

The tree was constantly shaking as the beast kept on ramming into it. After a few seconds the tree began falling downwards.

Luck quickly scaled down the tree before jumping down. The beast instantly noticed his presencebut Luck had already began running.
