Rebecca felt like she had been brought back to the fire. Her desperate cries for help were completely drowned by the fire.
"No! Help! Help me!"
She was sweating all over and flailing her arms like a helpless child.
Eliza quickly grabbed her arms and said, "Rebecca, it's okay. I'm here. Don't be afraid."
Although she did not know what Rebecca had experienced in the past five years, everyone in Mimery knew about the big fire back then. There was no one who could wake up from a nightmare like that.
Apparently the fire had burned everything to the ground and it had went on for several hours.
"Ah! It hurts! Help me, I'm going to die of pain!"
Rebecca grabbed Eliza's arms as if she was grabbing straw. She used all her strength to hold on that her nails dug into Eliza's skin. Rebecca felt a burning pain, but it didn't hurt as much as her heart did.
"What happened to you? Why did you get tattooed? Rebecca, you're hiding too many secrets and carrying the burden alone, how can I help you like that?"
Eliza became teary-eyed.
"I want to seek justice for Rebecca, but the other party was Louis Stone! The Crown Prince of Mimery, the big shot of of the city. He could make the entire city of Mimery tremble with a casual stomp. What could a nobody like me do?" Eliza thought.
"Louis Stone!
"The Crown Prince of Mimery, the big shot of of the city.
"He could make the entire city of Mimery tremble with a casual stomp. What could a nobody like me do?" Eliza thought.
The only thing she could do for Rebecca was to provide a place for her and help her as much as possible with trivial issues.
She could sense that Rebecca came back with a plan. Rebecca might even be planning something big, but since Rebecca didn't tell her, she didn't ask either. Eliza couldn't help but feel sad when she saw how much pain Rebecca was in.
Rebecca calmed down gradually, but tears kept falling from the corner of her eyes. She kept mumbling and asking, "Why?" She also kept calling out Trenton and Jolene's names.
The night passed eventually.
When the sunlight came in through the window in the morning, Rebecca woke up.
She looked at the white ceiling and the white bed. After a while, she realised where she was.
She moved her arms and woke Eliza up immediately.
"Are you awake? Do you feel okay? I'll call a doctor for you."
Eliza ran out before Rebecca could speak.
Rebecca laughed in spite of herself, but she felt weak all over her body.
"It seems that I have really bad luck in Mimery. I fell ill as soon as I came back." she thought.
When the doctor arrived, Rebecca had already recovered some of her strength. Based on the doctor's evaluation, Rebecca was no longer in a critical state, but she still needed to take some medicine.
"You can't be so reckless in the future. You're allergic to the chemicals used but you still went to get tattoos. Do you have a death wish?"
The doctor was telling her off. Rebecca listened quietly and said nothing.
She had always been prone to allergic reactions. After giving birth to Trenton and Jolene, when Callen let her have plastic surgery to restore her disfigured face, she knew that she was allergic to most chemicals. That's why she had only fixed her face, but she still went into toxic shock countless times. Fortunately, Callen had been by her side, so she didn't end up dying.
If Louis hadn't suspected her and wanted to examine her body, she wouldn't have taken the risk to cover the burns on her body with tattoos.
But how could she tell the doctor about this?
Seeing that Rebecca was rather obedient, the doctor left after giving her some instructions. He told her that she could be discharged at any time.
After the doctor left, Eliza looked at Rebecca immediately.
"Why did you get a tattoo? Don't tell me you didn't know that you were allergic to the chemicals."
Seeing Eliza's anxious expression, Rebecca sighed and told her everything.
"Are you crazy? You willingly hurt yourself just because you didn't want Louis to find out who you really are? Was it worth it for that jerk? If something happened to you, what about Trenton? Have you ever thought about that?"
Eliza was very angry.
Rebecca said quietly, "Callen must've mentioned it to the tattoo artist that he introduced to me. If the tattoo artist hadn't reduced the concentration in the chemicals, I might've ended up in a worse condition. Don't worry, I'm fine. I took some anti-inflammatory medicine after I went back home, I didn't expect to give you guys a fright. By the way, where's Trenton?"
"To think that you'd still remember your son."
Eliza was still very angry, but she couldn't blame her. Rebecca had suffered a lot back then. No matter what she wanted to do to Louis, Eliza felt that it was reasonable.
"Alright, where did Trenton go?"
Rebecca shook Eliza's arm like a spoiled child.
Eliza poked Rebecca's forehead helplessly and said firmly, "This is a hospital filled with bacteria. Did you think I would let him stay here? Trenton is at home. If you're feeling fine, I'll handle the documents for your discharge. Go back and see him. I'm a little worried about him."
"Okay."
Rebecca longed to go home. "Trenton spent the night alone at home, is he okay?" she wondered and couldn't help but feel worried.
