Chapter 3 - Loss !

Louis sighed softly and then squatted down.

This kid's fine features were pleasing to the eye. Normally, Louis wouldn't waste his time to do such a thing. But at that moment, he didn't feel like himself anymore.

"How old are you? How could your mother give you pants like these to wear?"

Seeing that the zipper of Trenton's pants was indeed stuck, he frowned.

Trenton whispered, "I'm four years old! I'm a big boy!"

"A big boy like you can't even handle a stuck zipper?"

Louis usually wouldn't have talked that much, he didn't know what was wrong with him that day. He just felt that the child in front of him made him very comfortable, so he talked with ease.

There was a flash of emotion in Trenton's eyes, so fast that no one could catch it.

"It's done."

The moment Louis pulled down the zipper of his pants, Trenton immediately shouted, "Ah, Uncle, I can't hold it in anymore!"

...

"What?"

As soon as Louis was done speaking, a warm and wet sensation with a strange smell instantly spattered on his face.

"I'm sorry, I didn't do it on purpose!"

Trenton apologized in a hurry, then slipped into a cubicle like a loach and locked the door shut.

Only then did Louis realise what was on his face!

"D*mn it!" he thought.

He, the president of the Stone company, was p*ssed on by a little boy?

Louis was furious.

"Come out, you little brat!"

He hadn't been this angry in so long.

Trenton squatted down in the cubicle with a mischievous smile on his face. He said in a tearful voice, "Uncle, I'm sorry. I really couldn't hold it in any longer. I'll ask my mommy to compensate you with money later, okay? If not, I'll let you pee on me too."

These words almost choked the life out of Louis.

He, the president of Stone company, peeing on a little boy?

"Is he being serious right now?" Louis thought.

Louis could only feel his blood boiling, and the sensation on his face made him even more uncomfortable.

He quickly washed his face with water, but he still felt unpleasant. He kept rubbing the hand wash liquid onto his face, but that foul smell still remained.

Trenton had been listening to what was happening outside his cubicle, and his mouth curved into a sly smile.

"How dare you bully Mommy!

"How dare you abandon us!

"That'll teach you a lesson for today. It's just the tip of the iceberg after all these years. I'll get back at you slowly in the future!" he thought.

Trenton's eyes shone with excitement, as he said in a tearful tone, "Uncle, don't hit me, okay? Just take it as being peed on by your own son. I really didn't mean it. Don't tell my mommy, okay? She'll beat me to death! Boo-hoo!"

Trenton faked a few cries at the end for good measure.

Louis paused what he was doing instantly.

"My own son?" he thought.

If Rebecca hadn't died back then, would their child have been around this age?

Louis looked at his reflection in the mirror. He had never been so embarrassed. His hair was wet and stuck to his forehead. His almond-shaped eyes with dark circles around them were filled with anger.

"Almond-shaped eyes?" he thought.

Louis suddenly realised that the child seemed to have a pair of eyes exactly the same as his.

No wonder that little brat felt so familiar to him, it was that pair of eyes.

There were only a handful of people who had almond-shaped eyes in Mimery. Perhaps it was because of this that he was more patient with that little brat.

Louis sighed and said coldly, "Don't tell anyone about what happened today, including your mother. Do you hear me? If you ever see me again in the future, just pretend as if you don't know me."

"Okay, got it! I promise I won't tell anyone!" Trenton responded. He was so well-behaved that no one could bear to scold him.

...

This loss would be Louis' to take that day.

He glanced gloomily at the cubicle once more, and then stormed out of the bathroom.

"Mr. Stone, what's wrong?"

Dominic's exclamation from outside can be heard, but Louis just strode away.

Trenton came out of the cubicle after making sure that it was silent outside. He looked in the direction in which Louis had left. He smiled mischievously and took out a pinhole camera from under the sink. He put the camera into his pocket, washed his hands, and walked out of the bathroom.

Rebecca had come out of the bathroom a while ago, but there was still no sign of Trenton. She felt a little worried. When she was about to go over and take a look, she saw Louis storm out of the bathroom in anger. His hair was wet, as if he had just washed it.

Louis was a man who cared a lot about his reputation. Rebecca was aware of this. When she saw him in such a mess, she couldn't help but feel a little stunned. However, she instinctively tried to hide herself.

She was back.

Five years ago, they did her wrong, and now she would slowly get back at them.

After Louis left angrily, Trenton walked out of the bathroom.

"Trenton."

Rebecca grabbed his arm and looked him up and down. When she found that he was not injured, she breathed a sigh of relief.

Trenton knew what Rebecca was worried about, but he pretended not to know anything and asked, "Mommy, what's wrong? I just went to the bathroom. Why do you seem so anxious? By the way, that uncle was so handsome. What do you think, Mommy?"

Trenton glanced in the direction Louis took off. Rebecca's heart stopped for a moment.

"Why would you care about whether or not another man is handsome? Let's go."

Rebecca bent down and picked Trenton up.

Seeing that Rebecca obviously didn't want to continue this conversation anymore, Trenton felt a bit heartbroken.

He wrapped his small arms around Rebecca's neck and said in a cheeky manner, "I was just thinking of finding a man for Mommy."

"You rascal, don't meddle in adults' affairs. I'll ask Aunty Eliza to arrange for you to go to kindergarten. You should study. I'd feel more at peace with Aunty Eliza looking after you."

Rebecca walked out with Trenton in her arms, her hands trembling slightly.

"Why did Trenton think that Louis was handsome?" she wondered.

Although Trenton and Louis were pretty similar to each other, Rebecca was still a little worried that Trenton had a good impression of Louis.

This was her son, the son she had risked her life to give birth to. He had nothing to do with Louis!

She would never allow Louis to take her child away from her.

Rebecca had a sense of determination, but she didn't see Trenton's worried and distressed expression.

Although he was young, he was aware about his mother's waking up from nightmares every night. He didn't know what Louis had done to her, but he feigned ignorance since his mother didn't want him to know. However, he had already planned his vengeance for her.

Both mother and son walked out of the airport deep in their own thoughts.

Rebecca hailed a taxi and took Trenton straight to Eliza's place.

Five years had passed, but she still lived in the same house, and the key was also kept in the same place.

Rebecca opened the door with the key and brought Trenton in.

The house had three rooms. It wasn't big, but it had a very cosy interior.

Trenton scanned the house briefly and whispered, "Mommy, where is your room?"

"The second one on the right. That used to be my room."

The corners of Rebecca's lips curled into a smile.

She and Eliza were college classmates and best friends. When she was bullied by her stepmother, Eliza always took her in. This was practically her second home.

Trenton dragged his suitcase with him as he opened the door to Rebecca's room.

There were photos of Rebecca when she was young hung on the wall, but Trenton couldn't recognise her. Ever since he was born, he had only ever seen Rebecca's current appearance. However, Rebecca's eyes turned red.

It was a face that was far less beautiful than it was now, but it was full of happiness and youth. Now, that face was long gone.

Rebecca reached out her hand and gently caressed her old photos. She felt really sad.

Trenton noticed Rebecca's actions and asked in confusion, "Mommy, who is this person? Aunty Eliza?"

"No, these are Mommy's old photos."

Rebecca tried her best to choke back the sobs in her voice.

Sadness overwhelmed her entire body, but she didn't want Trenton to find out. However, Trenton was a sensitive child, so he could clearly sense Rebecca's change of emotions.

He suddenly grabbed Rebecca's hand and said, "Mommy, I'm a little hungry. Go and see if there's anything to eat in the kitchen. Hurry up, I'm starving."

With that, Trenton pushed Rebecca out of the room.

Rebecca's sadness faded away.

To be fair, Trenton didn't eat much on the plane. Taking that into account, Rebecca gave in and took off her coat. She rolled up her sleeves and said, "Okay, alright. I'll cook something for you. You can play alone for a while. Don't make a mess of Aunty Eliza's room, okay?"

"Okay, I heard you."

Trenton pouted and shut the door behind Rebecca.

He looked at Rebecca's old photos on the wall, took a few pictures of them with his mobile phone, and then turned on the computer in the room.

He searched the web using the old photos of Rebecca that he took and quickly discovered information about her.

It mentioned the marriage between Rebecca and Louis eight years ago, as well as the news that Rebecca had a secret date with her lover and died in a fire five years ago.

Trenton's eyes suddenly darkened.

"Mommy had a secret date with her lover?

"That's impossible!" he thought.

He had known from birth that his mother had only one man in her heart—Louis. Although she had never said anything, Trenton could feel the hatred in his mother's heart.

"Louis must have done something to hurt Mommy," he thought.

Trenton quickly searched for Louis' information.

When he found out about Louis' name from Rebecca's sleep talking in the middle of the night, he had looked into Louis. Trenton knew about Louis' background, what he's capable of, and the state of his marriage very well.

Suddenly, Trenton found a photo of Louis holding a boy.

The boy looked about Trenton's age and he also had a similar appearance as Louis. Louis' gaze at the boy was especially affectionate and gentle.

"Who was this boy?" he wondered.

Trenton's eyes suddenly narrowed.

He quickly searched up the boy and found that it was Darryl Stone, the eldest grandson of the Stone Family. Darryl was now four years and ten months old, just four months older than Trenton!
