"Kadabra, use Psychic!"

On receiving the command, Kadabra launched a precise, concentrated psychic attack. The force overwhelmed Dodrio, knocking it out of the battle instantly.

At that moment, Kadabra seemed fully attuned to its newfound strength after its recent breakthrough.

In just six months, Tyson had risen from an ordinary trainer to an elite-level competitor. With two Pokémon at elite level, one at advanced level, and two at Excellent Level level, his progress was nothing short of extraordinary. Yet, it still wasn't enough for him.

Opening his map, Tyson eyed his next destination: Lavender Town.

Having decided that Primeape would eventually evolve into Annihilape, Tyson was determined to strengthen it for the journey ahead. Though Primeape would gain Ghost typing upon evolution, Tyson understood it might struggle to harness ghost-type energy. Lavender Town, known for its eerie ghost-type Pokémon, would be the perfect training ground.

"If we can find ghost-type resources, great," Tyson thought. "If not, I'll earn enough contribution points to get them later. For now, the experience of battling ghost-types is what matters most."

Before leaving Saffron City, Tyson had invested in a move tutor to teach Primeape Detect, ensuring it had a tactical edge in battle.

"All right, Primeape," Tyson said with a grin, ruffling the Pokémon's fur. "You're up next. Until we're out of this forest, every battle will depend on you."

Primeape's eyes lit up with excitement. Watching Charizard and the others battle back in Saffron had left it itching for action. Now, it finally had its turn.

In Tyson's arms, Ditto looked at Primeape's enthusiasm, then at Tyson, conflicted as usual. Before Ditto could dwell too long on its feelings, Kadabra used Teleport, and they arrived near their first opponent.

"Go, Primeape! Use Covet!" Tyson commanded.

Primeape dashed forward, its movements fluid. Its target, a Paras, tensed in alarm. But just as Paras prepared to defend itself, Primeape abruptly began acting cute. The stark contrast caught Paras off guard, leaving it momentarily stunned.

Seizing the opportunity, Primeape landed a powerful punch. Following up, it used Leer, making Paras falter even more. With Paras's defenses lowered, Primeape unleashed a barrage of Fury Swipes, leaving Paras battered and vulnerable. Finally, a Cross Chop struck the decisive blow, knocking Paras out cold.

Despite witnessing countless battles, Ditto couldn't help but feel a surge of excitement. Primeape had turned a near-equal matchup into a one-sided victory, thanks to Tyson's strategy.

Before long, Kadabra used Teleport again, positioning them for their next challenge. However, before Tyson could send Primeape into battle, his communicator buzzed.

Though the number was unfamiliar, he answered out of curiosity.

"Hello, Tyson. This is Michael. Apologies for the sudden call," came a calm voice. "I just wanted to warn you—the Mizutani family seems to be reorganizing their forces. They're not done with you yet. Be careful."

Tyson's sharp mind read between the lines. Michael, a Silph Co. insider, was likely tipping him off to earn his goodwill.

"Thank you for the heads-up. I'll stay vigilant," Tyson replied, maintaining a polite tone.

After hanging up, Tyson's resolve hardened. He wouldn't let this distraction slow him down. He ordered Primeape back into training, its next battle concluding swiftly in victory.

Even as he pressed forward, Tyson stayed alert. The Mizutani family's renewed interest in him meant trouble, but it also presented an opportunity. He resolved to assess their strength first—dispatching weaker threats while devising strategies for tougher opponents.

"Kadabra," he said telepathically, "stay alert. Notify me if anyone approaches, but keep Charizard and the others unaware for now."

Kadabra acknowledged silently, and the group began moving in calculated circles within the forest, rather than heading straight out.

Meanwhile, three figures entered the forest from another direction.

"This has to be the place," said a wiry man named Kuro, scanning his surroundings.

"So, what's the plan?" asked Woodman, a burly trainer brimming with impatience.

Kuro sighed. "No point in sneaking around with a psychic-type like Kadabra on his team. We'll need to confront him head-on. The real challenge is neutralizing Kadabra and tracking his exact location. That's where you come in, Thomas."

Thomas, the third member of their group, smirked confidently. "Don't worry. Houndoom and Azumarill are more than ready. Just follow my lead."

With their roles assigned, the trio released their Pokémon and began their hunt for Tyson.
