After leaving Silph Co., Tyson began preparing the supplies he would need for his journey.

His earlier conversation with Michael hadn't been entirely truthful. In Saffron City, Tyson found a wide variety of industrialized foods—things like instant noodles and other assembly-line products. Unlike his previous stops, where the limited options discouraged him from stocking up, Saffron offered not only variety but also a range of flavors. This discovery lifted a weight off Tyson's shoulders; he wouldn't have to worry about meals for a long while.

Embracing the joy of a trainer with newfound wealth, Tyson bought several shelves' worth of supplies. Thanks to his trusty space backpack, he avoided the comical burden of lugging around a mountain of provisions.

With food sorted, Tyson returned to his hotel. There, he set Charizard to practice Swords Dance and Kadabra to hone its Trick. While his Pokémon trained, Tyson relaxed, giving Mizutani Reima the time to make his next move.

Unlike most trainers, Tyson had a straightforward method of growing stronger: defeat or outwit powerful opponents. Using the mission points he had accumulated recently—especially from the knockout rounds—he upgraded Charizard's Swords Dance and Kadabra's Trick to intermediate-level mastery. Advancing further would depend on how many allies Mizutani Reima could rally against him.

Meanwhile, at the Mizutani family estate, Reima seethed with rage.

Reports from his spies indicated that Tyson was still leisurely staying in Saffron City. To Reima, this was an insult. "That mud-legged commoner dares look down on me, the heir of the Mizutani family?" His pride demanded action. Without hesitation, Reima mobilized his resources and sent operatives to hunt down Tyson.

Unbeknownst to Reima, his father, Mizutani Taki, was already aware of his plans. Instead of intervening, Taki saw this as an opportunity to test his son's resourcefulness.

For both father and son, Tyson's life held little value. To them, he was just another insignificant Alliance trainer.

Three days after the tournament, Tyson left Saffron City with his Sylveon by his side. Not long after departing, he noticed several individuals trailing him—though their lack of stealth was almost laughable.

Amused, Tyson couldn't help but grin. "A basic intimidation tactic," he mused. "They think tailing me so obviously will pressure me into a mistake—fleeing or fighting in a panic. It's a strategy that might work against the average trainer, but..." He shook his head. "Not against me."

Rather than confront them immediately, Tyson led his pursuers into a dense forest. There, their Pokémon were released to protect them from wild encounters—a move that only made them easier to track.

"Charizard, use Swords Dance. Kadabra, start with Trick," Tyson commanded quietly. As his Pokémon powered up, the pursuers realized they'd been discovered and began openly closing in.

Before they arrived, Kadabra teleported the group to a hidden position.

"What just happened?" one of the pursuers, Willy, asked his trainer.

"I don't know," the trainer replied. "Houndoom can't pick up their scent anymore. They must have used some skill to mask it."

Before they could react, Kadabra unleashed a burst of psychic energy, incapacitating several of their Pokémon. The distraction allowed Charizard to strike, its Dragon Rush—enhanced by two uses of Swords Dance—crashing down like a meteor. The resulting explosion knocked out most of the opposing team in a single blow.

Two trainers, Willy and Eita, managed to stay on their feet, but their Pokémon were unable to continue. Kadabra immobilized them with its psychic prowess as Charizard finished off the remaining threats with precise Dragon Claw attacks.

Emerging from the shadows, Tyson collected Poké Balls and valuables from the defeated trainers. After briefly considering interrogating them, he decided it wasn't worth the effort. A nod to Kadabra was all it took for the psychic Pokémon to deliver a finishing blow.

As Tyson's group teleported away to prepare for the next encounter, another team of pursuers arrived. Among them was Neon, a Mizutani family operative.

The sight of the lifeless bodies froze Neon in place. He knew the strength of Willy's team and realized how effortlessly Tyson had dispatched them. A chill ran down his spine.

"This isn't over," Neon muttered, scanning the shadows for any sign of Tyson. But deep down, he knew—Tyson was watching, waiting for the perfect moment to strike again.
