I sat on the couch, munching on a bag of chips and flipping through TV channels. My parents had just left for a three-day business trip, leaving me in charge of the house. They had given me a list of rules—no junk food for dinner, no staying up late, and definitely no exploring the attic. Naturally, I ignored at least two of those rules before lunch.
By mid-afternoon, boredom struck. I had already played games on my tablet, scrolled through my favorite apps, and even tried reading a book (for about five minutes). That's when my eyes wandered to the attic door.Just a quick peek," I said to myself, grabbing a flashlight.
The attic stairs creaked with every step as I climbed. I pushed open the door and found myself surrounded by dusty boxes, old furniture, and a strange smell i couldn't quite place. I wrinkled my nose.
What even is that smell? Old socks and... pickles?" I wandered around, poking through boxes marked "Christmas" and "Stuff." One corner caught my attention. It was darker than the rest of the attic, and something shiny peeked out from under an old sheet.
Ooh, treasure!" I whispered, pulling off the sheet with a dramatic flair—only to reveal an old mirror.
It was tall, with a gold frame that looked fancy but very, very dirty. I wiped a hand across the glass and frowned.
"Huh. That's weird," I muttered.
The reflection wasn't wrong, exactly, but it felt... off. The light in the mirror seemed dimmer, and her face looked more tired than it should have. I poked at my reflection.
"Great, now I'm imagining things. Good job, Caroline."
But as I turned to leave, my reflection didn't. It stayed there, staring at my with wide eyes. I froze.
"W-wait, what?!" I whipped back around to face the mirror, but now everything looked normal again. I stepped closer and tapped the glass nervously. Tap. Tap.
The mirror seemed ordinary enough. Maybe my brain was just playing tricks on me. Yeah, that had to be it.
"Yup, totally fine. Not creepy at all," I said, backing away slowly.
But as I left the attic and closed the door behind me, I couldn't shake the feeling that something wasn't right.
I went to bed having nightmares about that mirror, I wake up to knocks on my door. I gather up the courage to open up the door, and when I open it, "mom? Dad? What took you guys so long to come home?" I scream in happiness, but i see that my parents weren't focusing on me, instead they where looking away as if they were hiding something.
"Did you follow all the rules?" My dad tries to ask happily "what was that mirror in the attic" i ask my dad "you checked thale attic?!? I told you not to, remember? But anyways you did. I want you to know the truth"
"Caroline, we will come clean about everything in the morning. Now go to bed" said my mom sadly.
The next morning when I went down for breakfast, I saw my mom and dad sitting in the dining room waiting for me "sit down here, caroline" said my mom softly. It's time for you to know the truth.
"Many years ago when I used to be a child, your grandmother gifted the mirror to me as a 15th birthday present. I was so happy when I got it because I looked soo pretty in that mirror, but later some strange things started to unfold like I always used to wake up at 3:00 am and hear some weird words that didn't make sense to me such as dark magic, the only glowing light, candle is dying, etc...
And whenever I saw myself in the mirror, I would get this deja vu that I saw this somewhere but I don't know where. This mirror had something to do with my past.
went to the doctor to check if I had hallucinations, but I was normal I didnt have anything. But then i asked my mother, that is your grandmother why is it happening like this to me and show said that when my mother was little, there was this evil sprit called evelyn haunted everyone in her village, this priest who knew came to solve the problem of the village and did Black magic. But something went wrong and that is why trapped the evil spirit in a mirror, even though he said no one to touch the mirror for like 7 days or the evil spirit will escape, my mother took the mirror home and no one knew that she was cursed. Then I was born and my mother got a chance to get free from the curse and she gave the mirror to me then you were born and I didn't want you to have the curse too, that why I hid the mirror.
But you eventually found it and now the mirror is trying to curse you" said my mom crying. Oh no, this is bad i am CURSED "now what should I do? My whole life is wasted" i cried. "No honey, it's not" "what do you mean?" I asked "you only have one option to break free from the curse, and that is to gift the mirror to someone else when the eerie howling of werewolves began to rise, echoing through the dense forest under the full moon and When the black lord is awake" black lord?
I tried to avoid looking at mirrors on my way to school, cause I was traumatised. After school, i lie in bed processing what just happened today, I fall asleep. I wake up at 3:00 am to strange noises coming from the mirror, i look at myself by mistake in the mirror and I see someone standing behind me, i look behind but there is no one "you shouldn't have seen your reflection in this mirror, my dear caroline~" then i see something outside my door, a shadow.
It was going to the attic, I follow it suddenly, the shadow disappears. I feel an ice cold boney touch on my shoulder, I turn around as fast as I can. To find nothing
then no one heard anything from caroline. THE END (or is it?)
