Chereads / Reincarnated as a Cockroach! / Chapter 2 - Chapter 2-Max Gordon

Chapter 2 - Chapter 2-Max Gordon

Tobias panicked and quickly ran for his life. He gets used to the cockroach's body and controls its wings. The three pairs of legs had their own functions and were very helpful in moving around, especially when danger loomed.

"Damn it, really damn it!" he shouted angrily as he quickly flew away.

However, he only realized that his antennae, which looked ridiculous, actually had a very great function. In addition, his human soul can still be felt. Death deliberately brought Tobias back to life. But, he was born as a cockroach as punishment. His memories of life on Earth were returned to help him complete the mission.

"Hah, hah, hah!"

Tobias gasped as he had to adapt quickly to his transformation. He soon landed on a window frame of a worn-looking high-rise building. He managed to escape the rats that wanted to eat him.

As Tobias looked around, his eyes locked onto a thin, tall, dull-haired and shabby-looking man who was repairing something near a trash can filled with discarded electronics.

"Yeah! I did it!" he shouted happily as he picked up a silver board like a skateboard, but it looked different because it had two holes on the bottom left and right.

"Hahaha!"

"Hey, give it back!" the skinny man shouted as the object he had just fixed was snatched away by a tall, bulky man.

"He managed to fix it. It'll be great if I use it," said the muscular man, eyeing the skateboard in his hand.

"Jon!" shouted the grungy man, looking angry.

"What do you want, ha! Get out of the way!"

"Ugh!"

"Wow!" exclaimed Tobias in surprise as he saw the skinny guy suddenly get hit.

The shabby young man fell to the ground in a single blow. Tobias remained silent, observing and not feeling sorry for the poor man.

"You piece of trash!" taunted the burly man after leaving his opponent helpless and battered.

"Don't you take... that thing, I need the money from that thing... I want to sell it," said the thin man, crawling down the alley with a bloody nose.

"Heh, he's begging. Disgusting," Tobias mocked from where he was watching.

"Cihh!"

"Yeah! You deserve it!" exclaimed Tobias, cheering the burly man on as he spat at his opponent.

The burly man walked away with the skateboard. Tobias smiled wryly. He enjoyed the spectacle without pity. Just as he was about to take flight, his antenna suddenly moved as if to point at the shabby man.

"Hey! He's a useless guy! I don't want to go near him. He's bad luck!" Tobias grumbled, holding his antenna tightly.

"You're a pathetic man, Max Gordon."

"Ha? What did he say just now? He's... Max Gordon?" Tobias repeated.

The tall, thin man staggered to his feet. He repeatedly wiped the blood dripping from his nostrils. He also almost fell over because of the pain all over his body.

"Argh, that sucks! This is Max Gordon? The man I'm supposed to help? Isn't there anyone more unlucky than him?" Tobias asked angrily and kicked the wall with his roach foot.

Tobias vented his frustration by cursing, beating and kicking the walls. Surprisingly, the small body of the cockroach was equal to Tobias' original abilities when he was human.

The tattooed man is called a psychopath because of his deviant behavior. He loves to torture and watch torture. He had no compassion and loved to curse. Despite this, he was very rich and powerful. He had many followers, was respected among the criminals of his time and became the most wary figure by the government because he had a strong influence in the world of business, politics, and the economy.

"Hah! That really sucks! Death's mission is more like a punishment after coming out of hell," he grumbled again after venting all his frustration.

Tobias watched as his punches and kicks made large depressions in the wall. He was even amazed because he didn't expect his small body to have such great abilities in human form.

"Wow, I'm really good!" said Tobias proudly with all six legs crossed at the waist.

"Y-you can talk!"

Suddenly, Tobias turned around. He was surprised that Max Gordon could hear him. The young man was clearly frightened. However, seeing Max panic made Tobias excited.

"Yes, I can talk. Hello, Max, I'm Tobias Flame the ruler," Tobias said haughtily as he flew towards Max who was hastily walking backwards, causing him to fall on his back.

Tobias landed and stood with his two hind legs on Max's chest. Max's eyes were clearly rounded. Panic, curiosity, and fear were all in his eyes.

"B-but you're a cockroach," he said nervously with his gaze locked on the shiny insect in front of him.

Tobias was annoyed, but tried to look authoritative. "Yes. I deliberately changed my form into a cockroach so that I wouldn't be recognized by humans. And you, are the chosen one for being able to talk to me. You should be proud, Max. I'm not the type of person who is easily impressed."

"Chosen?" asked Max, trying to keep a straight face despite his racing heart.

"Yes. Your life is miserable. But don't worry. Tobias Flame will change your life."

"Change my life?"

"Yes. You will become an invincible great man! Respected, honored, a ruler, and rich like me! Hahaha!"

Max's brow furrowed. He thought this was ridiculous. However, he was sure that he wasn't hallucinating or fainting from the beating. Max closed his eyes for a moment to calm his frantic mind and then his heart.

When he opened his eyes, he didn't see the cockroach. But, when Max turned his head, he was surprised to see the appearance of a man with a violent face, covered in tattoos all over his naked body, reflected in the black glass leaning against the wall. He stared at the cockroach standing directly in front of the black glass.

"A-a ...."

"Don't put that idiot face on me," Tobias grumbled in annoyance.

"I-I saw you!"

"Of course you saw me. You have eyes, stupid."

Max crouched down and pointed at the black glass with a shaking hand. Tobias turned his head and was surprised to see the human figure. Before long, the tattooed man burst out laughing after seeing his human figure.

"Yes, that's me. Tobias Flame. You can see how great I am, can't you? So, don't mess with me, young man. I'm not just any guy."

Max swallowed, but nodded his understanding. The scruffy man ventured closer to Tobias the cockroach. Repeatedly, he confirmed his vision between the cockroach and the display on the black glass.

"So, you, Tobias Flame. I, Max Gordon. Accepting your offer to turn my miserable life into the man you promised it would be," he said steadily, looking into Tobias' eyes in the reflection of the glass.

"Good."

"But, if you fail. I will step on you."

Instantly, Tobias' face tensed.
