My name's Kang Xu.

I'm the third and youngest son of an immigrant Chinese family.

Growing up, I've always considered myself smarter than my peers.

Being the shy and introverted kid, I never stood out much in a crowd.

"Why am I like this?" I thought countless times.

But the truth is that I've always known the answer.

Because no matter what I did or what I was, I will always be known as the son of a lower-class Chinese, immigrant family.

This single characteristic of mine restrained me from growing up as a normal kid.

Recently, I have accepted this fact.

My character—though insignificant—cannot be dictated by birth, nor by God, if He even exists.

Yeah, even if the process might be slow.

And even if I might give up many times. 

Today, I have decided that I'm going to change.

I'm going to become a better person.

But fate was cruel.

When the clock's hand struck midnight, Kang was in the middle of relieving himself and was startled by a blinding light that suddenly appeared before him.
