Chapter 7 - The Power of the symbols

Kegan's eyes lit up as he remembered the symbols. He remembered the power of the ancient language, and he knew that it was the key to defeating the Shadowhand.

"Lyra, I've got an idea," Kegan said, his voice low and urgent.

Lyra turned to him, her eyes locked onto his. "What is it?" she asked.

Kegan grinned. "The symbols," he said. "We can use them to defeat Malakai."

Lyra's eyes widened. "How?" she asked.

Kegan's mind was racing. "I'm not entirely sure," he said. "But I think I can use the symbols to create a powerful spell."

Lyra nodded. "Let's do it," she said.

And with that, Kegan began to chant the symbols, his voice rising and falling in a hypnotic rhythm. The air around him began to shimmer and glow, as if the very fabric of reality was being altered.

Malakai's eyes narrowed. "What is he doing?" he spat.

But before anyone could answer, Kegan finished the spell. The air around him erupted in a blast of energy, sending Malakai flying across the room.

Kegan grinned. "That was just the beginning," he said.

And with that, he began to chant again, the symbols flowing from his lips like a river. The air around him began to shimmer and glow, as if the very fabric of reality was being altered.

Malakai stumbled to his feet, his eyes blazing with anger. "You fool," he spat. "You think you can defeat me with your little tricks?"

But Kegan just smiled. "We'll see about that," he said.

And with that, he finished the spell. The air around him erupted in a blast of energy, sending Malakai flying across the room once again.

This time, however, Malakai did not get up. He lay on the ground, his eyes closed, his body still.

Kegan grinned. "I think we won," he said.

Lyra nodded, her eyes shining with tears. "We did it," she said. "We saved the city."

Kegan nodded, his heart full of joy. "We sure did," he said.

And with that, they walked over to Malakai's body, their hearts full of triumph. They had saved the city, and they had defeated the Shadowhand.

But as they stood there, basking in the glow of their victory, Kegan couldn't shake the feeling that something was off. Malakai's body seemed...different. It seemed...wrong.

And then, just as Kegan was starting to feel a sense of unease, Malakai's body began to twitch. It began to convulse, as if something was moving inside of it.

Kegan's eyes widened. "What's happening?" he asked.

Lyra's eyes were locked onto Malakai's body. "I don't know," she said.

And then, just as they were starting to feel a sense of fear, Malakai's body erupted in a blast of energy. The air around them seemed to shimmer and glow, as if the very fabric of reality was being altered.

Kegan stumbled backward, his eyes wide with shock. "What just happened?" he asked.

Lyra's eyes were locked onto the spot where Malakai's body had been. "I think Malakai was just possessed by something," she said.

Kegan's eyes widened. "What do you mean?" he asked.

Lyra turned to him, her eyes serious. "I mean that Malakai was not the true enemy," she said. "He was just a pawn in a much larger game."

Kegan's mind was reeling. "What game?" he asked.

Lyra's eyes were locked onto his. "The game of the gods," she said.

And with that, everything went black.Kegan's eyes lit up as he remembered the symbols. He recalled the power of the ancient language and knew it was the key to defeating the Shadowhand.
