One day, after a long day of school, Paula was confronted by her friends to tell them the truth. This was because she had grown distant from them ever since she was given a wooden treasure box by one of her relatives after a visit.
"Paula, ever since your aunt visited you, you've grown further from us. And what's up with that old wooden box which you don't allow anyone to touch?" asked Jenny.
"Yeah, Paula, ever since it arrived, you always lock your room when you're not at home. What is so important that you're keeping from your friends?" Lily enquired.
Paula finally decided to spill the beans. "I know I've been a little distant from you ever since it arrived. I believe it's time I told you guys the truth."
It all began in the 1800s when two strangers, Henry Williams and Camilio Roberts, met at Winston University. They shared the same dorm room and soon became best friends. They both wanted to major in Archaeology since it was their number one interest.
They were the top of their archaeology class. One day, while they were on summer break, Camilio came up with an idea to go on an excursion to Egypt. He convinced Henry, and he agreed. Although Henry wasn't a big fan of traveling, he wanted to see the Great Pyramids of Giza and thought they'd also find a centuries-old antique for their archaeological assignment.
After days of traveling, they finally arrived in Egypt. They stayed at the house they booked online. The next day, they decided to visit the pyramids. As they got there, they were captivated by how the Great Pyramids of Giza looked in real life. They wanted to explore them deeper, but they were stopped by the guards.
But they weren't ready to give up. Both Camilio and Henry felt that the centuries-old antique they needed for their assignment could be found in the pyramids. They decided to come back and explore the pyramids at midnight.
As they expected, there were no guards at the entrance. They turned on their torchlights and entered the pyramids. It was pitch black and dead silent. The only thing they could hear were their footsteps, their breath, and even their hearts beating.
They kept walking through the tunnels, feeling as if they were in a labyrinth. Camilio was in front while Henry followed him calmly, analyzing every mark of writing.
Henry came across a strange writing in blood on the ancient wall. It was in ancient Egyptian, but lucky for Henry, his archaeological lessons paid off, and he could read what was written.
It said: THOU CANST PICKETH ANY OBJECT FROM THE HOLY TEMPLE, BUT THE EYE OF RA SHOULD NEVER LEAVETH THE TEMPLE. IF YE FALLETH INTO THE WRONG HANDS, THE CHAINS THAT BOUND ANUBIS SHALL BE BROKEN AND THOU SHALL BE DEVOURERH ALL.
Camilio, who hadn't realized that Henry was no longer behind him, arrived at the temple. He saw all these old antiques in the Temple of Ra, which would get them huge points for their project. As Camilio explored the temple, his gaze fell upon the glowing Eye of Ra in a designed glass package on a pedestal.
He became mesmerized by the eye. He wanted this to be the antique they submitted for their project. Meanwhile, Henry was on his way to tell Camilio that whatever he did, he shouldn't touch or take the Eye of Ra.
As he got to the temple, he saw the amount of golden artifacts and ornaments used to design the Temple of Ra. It was mesmerizing. As Henry was about to warn Camilio, his words got stuck in his throat.
Henry could not utter a word because before he could say anything, Camilio's blood splattered on his face. He fell to his knees in disbelief and shock at the sight. Camilio's body exploded into pieces. The Eye of Ra rolled to Henry's knees.
Henry became extremely frightened to pick up the eye but decided to do it anyway. To his surprise, he didn't die. He heard noises, which was his signal to get out before getting caught. He picked up Camilio's credentials and hurried back to the house they were staying in.
He took a cold shower, packed his and Camilio's things, burnt Camilio's clothes and credentials, and booked a flight back home. After he arrived, he told his teachers that university wasn't for him and that he was going to find another school.
He left Canada and relocated somewhere remote. He lived the rest of his life in a quiet town. He got married and shared this experience with his wife, and they passed the story on for generations and generations.
Our family is to guard the Eye of Ra with our lives until the chosen one returns it to the Temple of Ra. We're to ensure it doesn't fall into the wrong hands. My parents recently passed it on to me, so technically, I'm the new guardian of Ra's Eye. It's in the wooden box, and as I said, if it falls into the wrong hands, we're cooked.
"Paula, we're sorry. We didn't know it was this important. We're going to make sure not to touch it," Jenny assured her. "You can trust us, Paula. We'll always be there for you," Lily reassured.
One day, since Paula was running late, she forgot to lock her door and left. Lily went to her room, realizing that Paula had gone out. She opened the wooden box and took out the Eye of Ra, uttering these words: "Wait no more, Lord Anubis, your faithful servant shall revive you as promised."
Lily's words echoed through the room as she held the Eye of Ra in her hands. Suddenly, the air grew heavy, and a chill crept up her spine. She became possessed by a spirit of one of Anubis' servants. A sinister laughter filled the room, and a shadowy figure began to materialize in front of her. Lily stumbled back, her eyes wide with fear.
The figure revealed itself to be a human-like jackal, its eyes glowing with an eerie golden light. It was Anubis, the ancient Egyptian god of mummification and the afterlife. His gaze fixed upon Lily, who trembled before him.
"Foolish mortal," Anubis growled, his voice reverberating through the room. "You have unleashed a power beyond your comprehension. The curse of the Eye of Ra shall be fulfilled, and chaos shall reign upon your world."
Before Lily could utter a response, the Eye of Ra began to glow brighter in her hand. She felt her body grow weaker, as if her life force was being drained away. As her vision grew dim, Lily could only watch helplessly as Anubis vanished, his laughter echoing in her ears.
Meanwhile, Paula returned home, sensing something was amiss. She quickly made her way to her room, only to find Lily unconscious on the floor, the Eye of Ra beside her. Realizing the gravity of the situation, Paula rushed to her friend's side, trying to wake her up.
Lily's eyes fluttered open, but they were no longer the warm, friendly eyes Paula had known. Instead, they were filled with an otherworldly darkness. As Lily sat up, an unsettling smile spread across her face, and she spoke in a voice that was not her own.
"The time has come, mortal," she said, addressing Paula. "Anubis has risen, and the age of chaos is upon us. There is no escaping the wrath of the gods. You shall all die."
As Paula stumbled back in terror, she realized the gravity of her mistake in keeping the Eye of Ra. She had never imagined that the eye of Ra in a simple wooden box could bring about such calamity.
Now, with her best friend possessed by an ancient deity and the world on the brink of chaos, Paula knew she had to find a way to stop Anubis and save Lily before it was too late.
Paula ramaged through her books and great grandfather's diaries on Egyptian mythology, searching for a way to defeat Anubis and break Lily's possession. With every passing moment, the chaos unleashed by Anubis grew stronger, threatening to tear the world apart.
Anubis was draining the life force of every creature he encountered. Great darkness fell upon the world.Together with Jenny, Paula embarked on a perilous journey to uncover the secrets of the ancient curse and find a way to save Lily.
She decided to go back to the place where it all started , Egypt to find answers to her questions. As she delved deeper into the mysteries of the past, she discovered an ancient ritual that could seal Anubis away once more and restore balance to the world.
With time running out, Paula raced back to Canada to perform the ritual, her heart pounding in her chest as sheyfaced the wrath of an ancient god. As they chanted the incantations, the room trembled and shook, the forces of chaos threatening to consume them.
But Paula refused to give up. With the Eye of Ra in hand, she faced Anubis head-on, her determination unwavering. As she uttered the final words of the ritual, a blinding light filled the room, and Anubis let out a deafening roar.
When the light faded, Paula found herself back in her room, the Eye of Ra once again sealed within the wooden box. Lily lay on the floor, her eyes closed, but this time, there was no trace of darkness within them. The curse had been broken, and the world had been saved. Jenny had passed out.
With the danger now behind them, Paula vowed to keep the Eye of Ra hidden away, ensuring that the curse would never be unleashed again. As for Lily, she had no memory of her possession, but she felt a newfound appreciation for the bonds of friendship that had helped save her from a dark fate.
As the friends gathered together, they knew that their lives would never be the same after the ordeal they had faced. But with the curse lifted and their bond stronger than ever, they were determined to move forward, carrying the memories of their adventure as a reminder of the power of the choices they make .
