Chapter 27 - Chapter 27: Arms Deal

Kingpin had purchased a building in Manhattan, New York, to serve as the headquarters for Azeroth Technologies. When Garus learned of this, he couldn't help but feel a headache coming on.

That location would one day become the epicenter of the Battle of New York. When he saw that the new headquarters was less than a kilometer from Tony Stark's tower, he felt like he was losing his mind. While his Death Knight subordinates were capable of independent thought, how could they make such a significant decision without consulting him? Still, it was too late to change anything now.

Driving the sports car he had borrowed from Tony, Garus entered the parking lot of the Azeroth Technologies building.

As soon as he parked, Dr. Wim came running over excitedly. "Boss Garus! The sonic weapon you assigned to me has been fully developed. We've enhanced its power and successfully created both a Sonic Tank and a Sonic Palm Cannon."

At that moment, Kingpin emerged from the building. "Master, the testing grounds are on the outskirts of New York City. General Ross from the New York Military Base will be meeting us there. Securing this order could significantly boost the growth of our company."

General Ross? The guy who's been chasing the Hulk? Quite a notable figure. Garus felt satisfied with Wim's swift progress in completing the research.

This was Garus' first visit to the company, and the employees passing by cast curious glances at him. They couldn't understand why high-ranking figures like Mr. Wilson and Dr. Wim treated a young man with such deference.

Guided by staff, the group boarded a large bus and headed for the outskirts of New York.

After over an hour, the scenery outside the window became increasingly desolate. Garus noticed a large, fenced-off area ahead, filled with barracks.

At the gate, armed guards patrolled the perimeter.

"Master, these are retired special forces personnel I've hired. All future weapons testing will take place here," Kingpin explained.

Garus spent over half an hour touring the facility before Kingpin received a call. General Ross had arrived.

A convoy of military vehicles pulled into the testing grounds. From one of the vehicles stepped an older white man with graying hair—General Ross, commander of the military base near New York.

"Mr. Wilson," Ross greeted.

"General Ross, a pleasure to meet you." Kingpin extended his hand and gestured toward Wim. "This is Dr. Wim, our company's leading scientist. He will introduce you to our products."

"I hope your weapons impress us. Tony Stark shutting down his weapons division has been a real headache for us," Ross said.

Ross was aware of Wilson's other identity, but he didn't care. What mattered to him was whether the weapons would meet his needs. He needed something to deal with the big green menace.

"Although I've just entered the arms industry, I believe in doing things to the best of my ability," Kingpin replied confidently.

Wim took a box from an assistant and opened it to reveal a device resembling a glove. He put it on, flexing his fingers freely. In the palm was a circular, mesh-like iron plate.

Pointing the palm of his hand toward a target 100 meters away, Wim activated the device. There was no smoke or sound, but the target instantly shattered into pieces.

Garus thought the weapon bore a resemblance to Tony Stark's repulsor blasts but lacked the same visual flair.

"General Ross, this is our Sonic Palm Cannon. Its unique feature is that it generates no heat during use. With our energy blocks, it can operate continuously for about thirty minutes without the need to worry about ammunition," Wim explained. He then pulled out a white crystal from the box. "This is our energy block. It's compact, easy to carry, and simple to install. Just insert it into the slot on the back of the glove and close the cover."

"Impressive," Ross said, clearly pleased. Compared to conventional firearms, this weapon offered superior firepower. "How exactly are these energy blocks manufactured?" he asked, intrigued by their potential value.

"I'm afraid that's a company secret, General," Wim replied. "Every tech company has its core technologies, after all. Currently, our production capacity is limited to 500 energy blocks per month."

The energy blocks were critical to activating items Garus had acquired, and their production relied on six static energy aggregators he had exchanged all his points for. These machines were kept in a secure basement room at the Azeroth Technologies headquarters, a secret known only to Garus and Kingpin. Not even Wim was trusted with this information.

Noticing Ross's slight disappointment, Kingpin interjected. "General, let's move on to the main attraction: our Sonic Tank."

At the center of the testing grounds stood an unusually shaped tank. It lacked a cannon barrel, replaced instead by a radar-like structure.

On Kingpin's signal, two operators climbed into the tank.

"Our new tank requires only two operators and can even be controlled by a single person if necessary. Most importantly, it can deliver continuous firepower," Kingpin explained.

The tank's engine roared to life, and the radar-like weapon began to rotate. Within seconds, a dozen distant targets were obliterated.

Ross's eyes lit up. The tank's firepower and precision were exactly what he needed.

"General, I must mention one drawback," Wim said, leaning in. "The tank is energy-intensive. Each energy block supports only about fifty attacks, which can be used up in roughly a minute of continuous fire."

Garus resisted the urge to cover Wim's mouth. This was supposed to be a sales pitch, not a discussion of flaws.

Despite this, Ross was satisfied. The tank's advantages—ease of operation and overwhelming firepower—far outweighed its limitations. However, the limited production of energy blocks remained a concern.

"Mr. Wilson, your weapons meet our needs. I'll have my team send you a procurement list shortly. I expect timely delivery," Ross said.

"Of course, General," Kingpin replied, extending his hand. "However, for now, we can only deliver ten tanks and 500 energy blocks."

After wrapping up the demonstration, Ross left in a hurry, off to attend to other pressing matters.
