"Did she drink it?"
"Yes, sir, not a drop left."
At the dining table, Qin handed the bowl of medicine to Ethan and let him inspect it himself.
Ethann took just one glance before telling Qin to put it away.
"That's enough, you may leave."
"Yes, sir."
Qin took the bowl and prepared to leave.
Behind him, the man's low voice could be heard.
"Don't let her know about this, understand?"
Hearing this, Qin smiled and respectfully replied with his head down, "You don't need to tell me that, sir. I won't let anyone know."
...
After Avery came downstairs, Ethan had already finished breakfast.
"I'll be waiting for you outside. I'll take you to the hospital later." Ethan reminded Avery as he left the table.
He was still wearing his blue patterned mask, his gaze cold as usual.
Unlike Avery, who blushed and couldn't look at him after what happened last night. "Actually, it's not necessary." Avery didn't know how to face Ethan after what happened between them, so she wanted a buffer period to prepare herself.
She looked up at the man in front of her with a red face and said, "You can go to the company first. I'll go to the hospital by myself later. You don't have to take me there."
"Are you sure you don't need me to drop you y?" Ethan asked.
"Yeah." Avery nodded.
She was not a child, and going to the hospital by herself was not a problem.
Ethan didn't say much, "Alright, I'll have Qin arrange for a driver to take you there later. If you need anything, remember to call me. Don't try to handle everything on your own."
"Okay, I got it. You go ahead. I'll go to the hospital after breakfast. Don't worry about me," said Avery.
"Alright."
With narrowed phoenix eyes, Ethan took one last glance at her before turning around and leaving.
After a major staff overhaul, the servants in the house no longer had the bad habit of trying to please their masters.
They showed great respect towards Avery and there was no longer any hint of inappropriate behavior in their eyes.
Even when Alexis came down, there was no repeat of the previous situation.
Alexis observed her surroundings and noticed that the servants were slightly colder towards her. She clenched her fists.
She walked to the dining table and sat opposite Avery. She couldn't help but ask, "Avery, how was your night? Your dark circles seem heavier. Did you not sleep well?"
"I slept very well," replied Avery without much thought. She didn't want her sister to worry, even though she had been exhausted from the previous night's activities.
"That's good."
Alexis smiled and lowered her head. However, she noticed a red mark on Avery's neck and her eyebrows furrowed in concern.
It seemed that they had already done it!
A few minutes later, Avery put down her spoon and said, "Sis, I'm full. I'm going to the hospital now."
"Okay," replied Alexis calmly.
Avery didn't think much of it and ran out of the dining room, picking up her bag from the sofa on the way out.
" Qin, I'm going to the hospital. Is the car outside?"
Qin shook his head apologetically, "Madam, yesterday when we dismissed the original servants, we also dismissed the driver. Chad didn't know about it and forgot to hire a new one. I'm afraid you'll have to take a taxi today."
"It's alright." Avery didn't mind at all. She usually took taxis and didn't think much of it.
At this moment, a young voice came from outside.
" Ma'am, I can do it!"
Qin looked over and saw " Ryan" who came yesterday. He said anxiously, "Don't force yourself. This is Madam. If anything happens to her, I won't be able to explain it to the Master."
"Don't worry, Madam. I got my driver's license when I was in college. I drive steadily. I used to be a racer in school." "Ryan" patted his chest, looking confident.
To make Avery and Qin believe him,he even said, "Wait, I'll go back and get my driver's license to show you."
"Wait a minute." Avery quickly stopped him, "Since you can drive, then it's fine. Qin , where's the car?"
"It's over there, ma'am." Qin pointed to a cat in the garage.
"Let's go."
Avery walked in front, completely unaware that this so-called "Ryan" was actually her sister's college classmate Alexander Gray. After she turned around, Gray and Alexis who had just come out quickly exchanged glances.
After getting into the car, Gray quickly took the car key from Qin and sat in the driver's seat.
" Ma'am. I tend to drive a bit fast and sometimes take the longer route. Please fasten your seatbelt and hold on tight," Gray said as he stepped on the gas and drove away from the house.
Avery wasn't afraid of fast driving, but she was afraid of slow driving.
It was already 8 o'clock, and she had to go to the hospital first to see Dr. Wilson, then check on Julian, and finally go to school for class, although Ethan had asked her to take a leave of absence yesterday. The car went faster and faster, drifting around every corner. Fortunately, Avery had fastened her seatbelt and wasn't thrown around.
But as she looked out the window and saw the familiar scenery passing by, she felt strange in her heart. "Ryan, this doesn't seem like the way to the hospital. Are you lost?"
Gray denied it, "No, Ma'am, I haven't been here before, but I just took a detour. We'll be there soon."
"Really?" Avery looked out the window again and after a few more minutes, she was still worried.
In fact, this was not the way to the hospital, and there was no such thing as taking a detour.
Last night, Gray received a text message from Alexis, saying that the Wells family wanted to see Avery and asked him to bring her to the family as soon as possible.
He thought it would take some effort, but he happened to come across a driverless car and immediately volunteered to drive.
At this moment, the direction he was driving towards was actually the Wells family residence.
Twenty minutes later, the car stopped at the entrance of the family's house.
Avery got out of the car and saw that what was in front of her was not the hospital, but the house where she had lived for two years. Her small face frowned tightly. She turned to Ryan and said, "I'm supposed to go to the hospital, not the Wells family house. Why did you bring me here? Take me to the hospital right away!"
As she spoke, she got back into the car and was about to close the door.
But at that moment, a sharp woman's voice came from outside.
" Avery, you wicked girl, you've already come here, and you still want to leave?" At the same time, the car door was quickly grabbed by Victoria Wells.
"Get out of the car. I wanted to settle accounts with you yesterday for what happened at the courthouse. I finally caught you today, and you're not going anywhere!"
Victoria grabbed Avery's wrist with one hand and pulled her out forcefully.
Although Victoria was her mother, Avery had long lost any affection for her parents.
She didn't want to stay at the Wells family house for a second longer, and didn't even want to look at Victoria.
"Let go of me. I won't get out of the car. Let me go!" Avery struggled a few times, but found that she couldn't match Victoria's strength.
