Chapter 3 - Before Reincarnation II

"We all know it's going official later, Ms. Jeon."

"That's right! We're looking forward to calling you Team Leader Jeon Soomin!" Hana said, my most reliable coworker. Everyone agreed with what Hana said. They were excited for me, and seeing them this happy made me smile.

A few minutes later, it was lunchtime. Most of my coworkers had already gone to the company canteen. I figured it would be crowded there, so I went to my usual café just in front of our company.

The café was my little escape—a cozy corner where I could enjoy a quiet meal away from the bustling energy of the office. As I stepped inside, the familiar aroma of freshly brewed coffee and baked pastries greeted me. The barista, a friendly face I'd come to know over the years, gave me a warm smile.

"The usual, Ms. Jeon?" she asked.

"Yes, please," I replied with a nod, my voice soft but steady.

I took a seat by the window, my favorite spot, where I could see the busy street outside. People passed by in a blur, but here, it felt like time slowed down.

As I waited for my order, I let my thoughts wander. The morning's conversation replayed in my mind. Team Leader Jeon Soomin. It felt surreal. I'd worked so hard for this, yet the weight of the responsibility was beginning to sink in. Could I really live up to everyone's expectations?

The barista brought over my coffee and sandwich, snapping me out of my thoughts. "Here you go. Enjoy!"

"Thank you," I said, offering a small smile.

Taking a sip of my coffee, I reminded myself of the journey that brought me here. This wasn't just about the title—it was about the trust my team had in me, the belief they showed earlier. Hana's words echoed in my mind, giving me a sense of reassurance.

I was lost in my thoughts when the café door jingled, signaling a new customer. Out of habit, I glanced up—and froze. Standing there was someone I hadn't seen in years. Someone I thought I'd never see again.
