The date is December 31st, 2194; New years' Eve.
We see a teenager looking out into the luminescent moon of Tokyo from his workplace.
'I didn't think I'd be stuck here on New years' eve. Life's pretty unfair...' The boy, named Samuel Optim, told himself as he looked at a party in a hotel located at a distance.
He let out a sigh and turned back at his computer, before placing his head on the table.
Magical Madness
The brand new MMORPG game which has attracted the admiration of 60% of the population. Samuel is one of the top developers of the game. According to the contract he signed with the company, he has to work twenty-two hours a day.
As he fell asleep on his work table, he felt a relief like he had never felt before.
'This feels nice...'
After a while...
Sam opened his eyes and found himself sitting infront of a throne. Baffled, our protagonist looked around and called out,
"Hello? Anyone there?" No response came.
'Is this some kind of joke? ' Sam asked himself, as he grabbed the handle of the chair he was sitting on.
He tried standing up, but his effort was futile, as he was locked in place.
"Do not worry, Samuel Optim. You need not worry, this is a safe place". Finally, a response came.
Sam, recognised the voice as that of a woman.
"Come out". Samuel spoke in a deep voice.
As he said, a figure walked beside him before sitting down on the throne opposite to him.
The person was a beautiful woman who wore a glorious white dress, tied with a black bow.
"I am Alicia, a goddess" the woman said.
Sam sat there without giving a response, much to the goddess' disgust.
'Of course, instead of thinking why he's here, he is focusing on my body. All men are the same...'
But then, a very hard object hit her head. The goddess grabbed her head in pain, and looked at the floor to see... a phone.
"You think I'll believe that?" Sam questioned the woman in a disgusted and agitated tone.
"And even if you are, stop looking me with those eyes, I maybe a man, but I'm not planning on taking advantage of you".
But to Sam's astonishment, the woman began laughing as if she had lost her mind. Her laughter filled the room, and would've sent a shiver down anyone's spine.
"I LIKE YOU!!" Alicia said in a crazed tone. "OH, YOU'RE PERFECT!" Alicia said and looked at Sam. But ahe certainly did not expect to see a grin on his face, making Alicia stop laughing.
"Guess even gods have a devil within them". Samuel said, placing one of his legs on his other one. "So what do you need me to do?"
Alicia, after shaking off the immense fear and astonishment, answered as,
"If my memory serves me right, I believe you are a 'game developer' of a fantasy game, am I correct?" Alicia questioned the man.
"Yes, I certainly am. So what can I, do for a goddess?" Sam replied with a smug look on his face.
Alicia rose her hand, summoning a couple dolls, each possessing a unique weapon and design.
"Three years ago, I sent a group of high school students from your world. They were sent as the Heroes of my world; Distanya", She began with calmly, but slowly an enraged expression grew upon her face.
"But they've yet to fulfill the task I gave them. And what's worse, they've been driving suspicion around humans, beastmen, Demons and other gods."
Samuel did not speak a word because he knew that interrupting a woman is like signing a death certificate. Only after the goddess calmed down, did Samuel reply.
"And how does that apply to me?" The goddess smiled at the reply.
"Simple," she began "I want you; Samuel Optim, to teach those heroes the consequences of not fulfilling their orders".
A moment of silence fell upon the room/void.
"And what will I get in return?" Sam asked.
'Finally, he started talking like an average human.'Alicia told herself
"I will grant your soul eternal happiness. Wherever you are, lady luck will follow."
Samuel thought about the deal the goddess had put forward. After much consideration,
"I agree". Alicia stood from her chair and jumped up in happiness.
"Great" she said "now we shall begin your preparations". The goddess said.
She waved her arm, summoning five cards, each with a unique colour.
"I shall bestow upon you, one of five specialities; forgive me, but as you are not a hero, I cannot lend you a balanced stat, skill or magic set. But I will do my absolute best to support you. As such, please choose one of these five cards".
The cards flew towards Samuel, before Alicia began speaking, yet again.
"The red card increases your Strength, Health points, or HP and Defence stats by 32" as she said, a bright red light emitted from the red card.
"The blue card increases your Mana points; or MP, your Mana strength; or MS and Agility stats by 32" similar to before, the blue card emitted a bright light.
"The green card grants you the ability to use all types of magic; such as the Dark arts, Nature magic and Forbidden magic" the green card shone in another bright light.
Before the goddess could continue, Samuel asked her a question.
"May I ask more about the magic system of your world, Mrs. Alicia?"
Alicia, being reminded that she had forgotten to explain more about this foreign world, said only a few words.
"It is nearly identical to the game, Magical Madness" this gave Samuel all the information he required.
The fourth card, which possessed a white colour, began illuminating.
"The white card will bestow you with 10 skills the moment you arrive. Including; a single Virtuoso level skill, four Adept level skills, and five Neophyte level skills"
Samuel recalled the levels of skills he and his team coded into the game. Lastly, the violet coloured card emitted a bright light.
"The violet coloured card is definitely the riskiest card of the five". The comment took Samuel by suprise.
"But it grants you a race changer"as the goddess had finished, she looked Samuel straight into the eye.
"Which card will you select?"
The comment took Samuel by suprise. He looked at the five cards, thinking about what each and every one of them would grant him. Until finally...
"The Violet card" the goddess was too stunned to speak.
"A-are you positive?" The goddess asked. "The race you recieve is completely random There is even a 49.87% you become a human, which would mean your choice would go to waste!"
"I am positive," Sam replied. The goddess let out a sigh, realising she can't convince the mortal soul.
She snapped her fingers, summoning a giant wheel. The wheel was divided into five sections.
The biggest section was tagged 'human' and occupied almost half the circle. The second largest sections were tagged 'Beastman', 'Angel' and 'Demon'. And then, the smallest section was labelled 'Custom' and it was basically a line on the wheel.
The goddess yet again, snapped her fingers, which caused the wheel to begin spinning. It felt like eternity for the goddess, and to her utmost astonishment, the wheel landed on Custom.
"WHAT IN THE NAME OF THE GODS?!!" Alicia expressed as she stood up from her chair. She looked at Samuel, who seemed calm. "How-?" Before Alicia could finish, Samuel responded with a blank expression.
"You told me yourself, 'wherever I am, lady luck will follow me'. Isn't that what you said?" Alicia was too stunned to speak.
'This mortal... He truly is perfect'
