Chereads / MADman / Chapter 78 - The Devouring Fury

Chapter 78 - The Devouring Fury

The air was thick with tension as the 5 Saviours stood across from Dave Igneel. There was no love lost between them, but there was something else—something deeper. An unspoken understanding that the coming battle would not just test their strength, but their resolve.

Without a word, Dave made the first move.

Wu-Ji was the first to react, drawing his golden blade, and rushing forward with the precision of a master swordsman. He was fast, his movements like a blur, a blur that was barely able to keep up with Dave. Wu-Ji aimed a sharp strike directly at Dave's chest, but before the blade could land, Dave shifted with an almost unnatural grace, his movements swift and lethal.

Dave (smiling coldly):

"Is that all you've got?"

In a single motion, Dave's hand shot out, grabbing Wu-Ji's wrist and twisting it, disarming him with ease. The energy surrounding him pulsed like a living entity, growing stronger by the second. Dave's hands were an extension of his will—he was no longer just a man; he was a force.

With one swift motion, Dave drove his fist into Wu-Ji's gut, sending him crashing into the ground, gasping for breath. Wu-Ji tried to get up, but the pain was overwhelming. Dave wasn't finished.

King D was next, charging in with his massive warhammer raised, a roar of fury erupting from his throat. He swung the hammer down with the force of a hundred storms, but Dave didn't flinch. Instead, he sidestepped effortlessly, his speed seemingly impossible for the eye to follow.

Dave (smirking):

"You think your size gives you an advantage?"

Before King D could react, Dave grabbed the warhammer by its handle and twisted it out of the massive warrior's hands with ease. King D, stunned, tried to charge again, but was met with a brutal knee to the chest. The blow left King D staggering, his breath knocked out of him as Dave's energy surged.

Rat and Monkey stood together, eyes narrowed in concentration. Rat moved swiftly, using his speed and agility to dart around Dave in an attempt to land a strike, but every attack was met with a parry or a dodge. His speed was no match for the sheer force of Dave's combat prowess.

Rat (snarling):

"You're faster than we thought, human."

Dave (grinning):

"I'm not human. Not anymore."

In an instant, Dave closed the distance, his fist slamming into Rat's midsection. Rat was sent flying back, crashing into the concrete, groaning in pain.

But Monkey wasn't far behind. His long arms swung in a wide arc, attempting to catch Dave off guard. However, Dave seemed to anticipate every move, his reflexes faster than Monkey's brute strength.

Dave (in a low growl):

"You should have stayed in the shadows."

In a fluid motion, Dave dropped low, evading a deadly punch, and countered with an uppercut that sent Monkey flying into the air. Before he could recover, Dave was already behind him, spinning around and landing a devastating strike to Monkey's back.

With Monkey and Rat down, only Gok remained standing—his eyes locked on Dave, analyzing every move, every breath.

Gok drew his blade, his expression cold but unwavering.

Gok (calmly):

"You're strong, but we fought more stronger ones than you. Us don't fall so easily."

Dave (looking at him with disdain):

"That's where you're wrong, Gok. You are legends to the world... But in the end, you're just another obstacle."

The two warriors circled each other, each waiting for the other to make the first move. Gok was the first to strike, his Infinity Sword slashing through the air with unimaginable speed. But Dave's reflexes were even faster. He parried the attack with ease, his own fist striking out with brutal force.

The two clashed again and again, each blow exchanged with the fury of battle-tested veterans. But Dave's energy—his power—was unlike anything Gok had faced before. It was as if Dave drew from the very essence of the universe itself. Every strike, every move, was devastating.

Finally, Dave saw an opening. With a sudden burst of speed, he grabbed Gok's sword arm, twisting it until the blade dropped from his grasp. Before Gok could react, Dave landed a crushing blow to his chest, sending him skidding across the ground.

Dave (breathing heavily, with a smirk):

"Your legend ends here."

Gok lay on the ground, battered but still alive. He had never faced an opponent like this before—someone who didn't just rely on skill, but on the pure, unrelenting force of their own energy. Dave Igneel had devoured them with ease, his combat prowess unmatched, his energy unstoppable.

For a moment, there was silence. The battlefield was littered with the fallen forms of the 5 Saviours, and Dave stood victorious, breathing heavily but calm.

But it wasn't over.

Gok (panting, looking up at Dave):

"You... You weren't lying. You're not like us. But that doesn't mean you're invinci.."

Dave looked down at him, his smile never fading.

Dave:

"I don't need to be invincible. I just need to be better."

With that, Dave turned his back on the fallen warriors and began to walk away. There was no need for final words, no need for further battles. He had proven his strength. The world would remember him now.
