Chapter 37 - Yakuza

Arrival in Tokyo

The neon lights of Tokyo illuminated the streets as Gok and Wu-Ji arrived, their destination clear: the heart of Japan's underworld. They had tracked the fragment of the Infinite Blade to the notorious Yakuza boss known as King D.

King D was not just a Yakuza boss; he was also a player in the Ranker game, rumored to have attained incredible power by fusing his Yakuza skills with a fragment of the Infinite Blade. His reputation as the "King of Daggers" was both feared and respected, making him a force to be reckoned with in both the real world and the digital one.

"This place reeks of trouble," Wu-Ji muttered as they made their way down the dark alleyways. The smell of smoke and the murmur of low conversations hung in the air.

Gok nodded. "Trouble's what we're here for."

The Yakuza Hideout

They arrived at a towering, sleek building in the heart of the district—a fortress in the center of Tokyo's crime scene. The building was guarded heavily, with men in dark suits standing watch at every corner. Despite the precautions, Gok and Wu-Ji made their way inside undetected.

They were led into a lavish room adorned with rich tapestries and antique furniture. Sitting behind a massive desk was a tall, imposing figure, his sharp eyes gleaming in the dim light. King D. His face was partially hidden by a silver mask shaped like a lion's face, and his attire was a blend of traditional Yakuza regalia and modern tactical wear. In his hand, he twirled a dagger that seemed to hum with energy.

"I've been expecting you," King D said, his voice smooth and dangerous. "Gok... Wu-Ji... the men who think they can steal my fragment."

Wu-Ji clenched his fists, sensing the tension in the air. "We're not here for theft. We came to talk."

King D chuckled, the sound like the clicking of blades. "Talk? The Yakuza don't talk; they take what they want. But, I'm intrigued. You, Wu-Ji, want to talk?"

Dagger vs. Dagger

Wu-Ji stepped forward, his hand resting on the hilt of his Infinity Dagger. "We know you're using the fragment to increase your power. But this isn't about you or me. It's about stopping what's coming."

King D's eyes narrowed. "You think you're the only one who sees the bigger picture? We all know the world is changing, but that doesn't mean I'm going to hand over my weapon just because you ask."

The tension in the room grew, as both men seemed to measure each other's power. "Then why don't we settle this like real warriors?" Wu-Ji said, his voice low but resolute.

King D grinned beneath his mask. "Fine. Let's see what you've got, Zodiac boy."

With a swift motion, King D threw his dagger into the air, where it hovered momentarily before twisting in the air like an extension of his will. Wu-Ji's hand moved instinctively, summoning his own dagger. The two weapons glowed with a strange energy—King D's imbued with the power of the Infinite Blade fragment, Wu-Ji's with the ancient Zodiac powers.

The daggers clashed in mid-air, sending sparks flying. The air around them crackled with raw energy as the two masters of the blade fought without hesitation.

But then, something unexpected happened.

King D lowered his dagger, a flicker of understanding in his eyes. "You're not like the others... you want to stop this madness. You're not just a pawn in this game."

Wu-Ji took a step back, his dagger still poised. "We both know this isn't about power or fame. This game—it's going to destroy everything if we don't do something."

King D paused, considering Wu-Ji's words. His grip tightened around his dagger, but he made no move to strike. "So, you want to talk after all, huh? Fine. Let's talk."

The Conversation

As the fight dissipated into a tense silence, the two men sat across from each other. King D took off his mask, revealing a hardened face marked by years of violence and calculation. His eyes, though sharp, were filled with a weariness that Wu-Ji hadn't expected.

"So, what exactly do you want from me?" King D asked, his voice quieter now. "You know I'm not interested in working with the government or the so-called 'heroes.' I'm my own king, and I have my own plans."

Wu-Ji leaned in, his voice calm but firm. "We know about the towers. We know about Venik. And we know the Zodiacs are not the only ones involved in this game. We need you to help us stop the chaos that's coming. If we don't work together, there won't be anything left to rule."

King D stared at him for a long moment, considering the weight of Wu-Ji's words. Finally, he spoke. "I don't like teaming up with anyone. But I've seen the signs. The fragments... they're changing things. If what you say is true, then I may be fighting on the wrong side."

Wu-Ji nodded. "We'll need your dagger. The fragment's power is essential if we're going to stand a chance. I don't want to take it from you, but I need it."

The Deal

King D's eyes flickered with conflict, but in the end, he made his decision. "I'll give you the fragment. But only because I know you're right. But don't think for a second that this means we're allies. You've got your path, and I've got mine."

Wu-Ji stood, his dagger still in hand. "We're not allies. We're just two people trying to stop something much bigger than ourselves."

King D nodded and stood as well, offering Wu-Ji the fragment. "Take it. Just know that you'll have to make your own choices soon. The game may be ending, but the real fight is only beginning."

With that, Wu-Ji took the fragment, feeling its power surge through him. As he turned to leave, King D called out. "Be careful, Wu-Ji. Not everyone in this game wants to win."
