Chapter 29 - Chapter 29: Borders

After the meeting, Aiden spent much of the day reviewing contracts and discussing legal issues involving Star Corp.'s subsidiaries with lawyers. Despite the heavy workload, he felt energized by the constant challenge.

When he finally finished, it was already night. He glanced at his watch and thought about how his life was a constant balance between work and… unexpected adventures.

Aiden drove his customized Lamborghini Huracán out of Star Corp.'s underground garage, the roar of its engine echoing through the city's brightly lit streets. The night was clear, the cool air hitting his face through the half-open window. He was calmly planning what he would do when he got home, when he noticed something unusual.

Three black cars were following him, keeping a constant distance.

"Interesting…" Aiden muttered to himself, a smile forming on his lips. He called his security team using the Lamborghini's integrated system.

"Alert. Three suspicious vehicles following me. I'm headed toward Central Avenue."

A voice came over the loudspeaker:

"Roger that, boss. Rapid response team is on its way."

But Aiden wasn't the type to sit around waiting. He adjusted his seat, gripped the steering wheel tightly, and with a touch of a button, activated the car's sport mode.

"Let's play a little."

He accelerated, the engine roaring like a beast, and the Lamborghini shot through the city streets. The cars behind him also picked up speed, making their intentions clear. Aiden weaved between the vehicles, his precision behind the wheel impressive.

On Central Avenue, he dodged a truck with inches to spare, hearing the sound of his pursuers' tires screeching as they tried to do the same maneuver.

"Is that all you got?" Aiden laughed, glancing in the rearview mirror.

He turned onto a narrow street, the neon lights reflecting off the shiny paintwork of his car. Aiden knew this area had treacherous curves, and he took full advantage of it. With a calculated drift, he made the perfect turn, while one of the cars behind him lost control, crashing into a metal dumpster.

There were two of them now.

The Lamborghini emerged onto a wider highway. Aiden, without hesitation, pushed the pedal to the limit. The speedometer shot up to 110 mph, then 120 mph. He changed lanes constantly, passing cars that seemed to be standing still compared to his speed.

The two remaining pursuers tried to keep up, but Aiden knew the city well. He pulled into a tunnel, quickly turning off his car's lights and confusing his rivals. For a moment, he disappeared from view, only to reappear at the exit, already far ahead.

"You guys need more practice," he joked, adjusting his rearview mirror.

The two remaining cars were determined. One of them tried to approach from the side, but Aiden reacted coolly. He let the car almost catch up, only to swerve at the last second, forcing the other driver to lightly collide with a pole.

Now there was only one left.

The last pursuer seemed more experienced, keeping up the speed and trying to corner Aiden. They entered an industrial area, where warehouses cast dark shadows on the road.

Aiden knew it was time to end the game. He accelerated again, entering a sharp curve at high speed. The car behind tried to keep up, but spun out, stopping dangerously close to a stack of boxes.

"Time to end this," Aiden said, as he adjusted course for a more open area.

Suddenly, bright lights illuminated the area. Black SUVs and motorcycles appeared from multiple directions, blocking the path of the remaining pursuer. Aiden slowed down, watching in the rearview mirror as his security team surrounded the vehicle.

The team approached on the radio. "We're in control, boss."

Aiden smiled, parking his Lamborghini a safe distance away. He got out of the car with ease.

"Good job, guys. I was starting to think I'd have to figure this out on my own."

One of the team got out of one of the SUVs, adjusting his glasses.

Looks like you had fun."

Aiden laughed, watching the last pursuer being pulled out of the car by his security guards.

"Quite a bit. Now, let's find out who sent these guys."

The night was cold and silent, but the security team's convoy cut through the city streets like moving shadows. Three armored SUVs protected the Lamborghini, while two of the captured men were handcuffed and monitored inside one of the vehicles. The mission seemed peaceful, but Aiden, always alert, felt that something was wrong.

"Are you feeling that?" Aiden asked over the radio, his voice calm but full of alertness.

"Yes, boss. We're on the lookout, but nothing unusual so far..."

"Ach..." Before Orion could finish his sentence, the bright lights of three cars appeared in the rearview mirror. They were coming fast, accelerating like predators who had just spotted their prey. The sound of their engines echoed, cutting through the silence of the night. Then, the inevitable happened: the first shot.

The bullet cracked loudly, piercing the rear window of one of the SUVs. The security guards reacted instantly.

"Ambush!" he shouted over the radio. "Alpha Team, protect the boss!"

The attackers opened fire without mercy. Bullets ricocheted off the armored SUVs, creating a deafening metallic sound. The rear windows of the security SUVs rolled down, revealing security guards armed with automatic rifles.

"Return fire!" one of the security guards ordered.

Chaos took over the streets. The SUV in the back repositioned itself, blocking the advance of one of the enemy cars. One of the security guards fired accurately, hitting the vehicle's tires. The car lost control, crashed violently into a tree and burst into flames, illuminating the scene as if it were day.

Inside the Lamborghini, Aiden watched the scene in the rearview mirror. His expression was calm, but his eyes shone with expectation. He picked up the radio, "Keep them moving. I want answers, I don't want these guys to get away."

As Aiden accelerated to avoid being in the center of the confrontation, two more enemy cars approached. One of them tried to pull alongside the Lamborghini, but Aiden maneuvered skillfully, swerving to the side and forcing the car to hit the curb.

"Amateurs," Aiden muttered, with a slight smile, as he accelerated again.

A security SUV attempted to block another vehicle, but was met with a hail of bullets that hit its hood, forcing it to slow down.

Inside the SUV, one of the security guards shouted,

"They're aiming for the wheels and the engine!"

One in command of the convoy ordered,

"Bravo Team, eliminate the car in front!"

From the roof of one of the SUVs, a security guard armed with a long-range rifle emerged. Calmly and accurately, he aimed at the driver of the enemy car leading the attack. The shot was accurate, going through the windshield and hitting the man in the chest. The car lost control, spun several times and crashed into a pole, scattering debris everywhere.

The remaining attackers did not give up. One of them, equipped with a submachine gun, stuck half of his body out the window and began firing at the SUV where the prisoners were. Bullets tore through the air, some hitting the armored glass, which began to crack.

"We need reinforcements!" one of the security guards shouted over the radio.

The leader responded firmly:

"They're trying to recover the prisoners. Hold your ground, reinforcements are on the way."

Meanwhile, the rearguard car tried to block the attackers, but was hit by a series of shots on the left side, compromising its steering. The driver struggled to maintain control while the security guards fired at the enemy car that insisted on chasing them.

Aiden, always calm, watched everything through the side mirrors. He picked up the radio again.

"Neutralize everyone. No prisoners this time."

"Understood, boss," the team responded with determination.
