Chereads / The Invisible Ghost Summoner / Chapter 6 - The Angry SSS Level

Chapter 6 - The Angry SSS Level

That night, three creatures emerged from the dormitory of Dà Tián Shòuyì School, the Great Rice Field Beast Tamer Academy. Their appearance sent a ripple of fear through all beasts left in the human world, unsealed in their Summoning Space.

Dogs cowered, barking with tails tucked. Wolf beasts howled, signaling the absence of their alpha and a need to reestablish dominance. Every beast and animal in the school reacted instinctively to the arrival of these three: Wǎng (Gēn Dé Rú Wǎng), a silent and commanding figure; Tú Yòu, and SìSì (Hóng Sì), an SSS-level beast.

The trio was on a mission to Shòutián Lín, the Beast Heaven Forest, under the orders of their master, Yán Shèngxīn. Their urgency stemmed from fear of GǔGǔ, a golden silkworm larva with insatiable hunger. Despite his small size, GǔGǔ was invincible to physical, mental, or spiritual attacks—a terrifying creature miraculously tamed by Shèngxīn.

In the forest, they found a group of hunters encircling a small, trembling white wolf. Beside the cub lay his mother's lifeless body. The young Four-Eyed Little Wolf, named Sì Xiǎo Láng, was considered SìSì's little brother. The hunters had killed his mother while his father, the Four-Eyed Wolf King, fought elsewhere against another group.

These hunters, black-market beast traders, targeted S to SSS-level creatures, especially the young or elderly. Elderly beasts were sold cheaply for household tasks, while young beasts fetched high prices as lifelong companions for the children of wealthy families.

One hunter had set his sights on Sì Xiǎo Láng, desiring the prized four-eyed wolf species. Using divide-and-conquer tactics, the gang ambushed the pack, killing several wolves, including the cub's mother.

"Insolent humans! Poor Xiǎo Láng... I must help!" SìSì growled from the bushes, her fury manifesting in glowing red eyes, sharpened claws, and bristling tails.

Before she could act, Wǎng stopped her.

"What's the delay, Brother Wǎng?" SìSì asked, trembling with suppressed rage.

"Master," Wǎng replied tersely.

Tú Yòu, accustomed to Wǎng's brevity, understood. They needed Shèngxīn's permission. SìSì reluctantly restrained herself but kept her eyes locked on the hunters and Xiǎo Láng.

Tú Yòu attempted telepathy with Shèngxīn but received no response. "Brother Wǎng, Master seems to be asleep," he reported, frustration evident in his childlike tone.

SìSì's gaze darkened as the hunters closed in on the last adult wolf shielding the cub.

SìSì growled and leapt from the shadows, abandoning her humanoid form. In an instant, she transformed into her true self—a massive, crimson-furred fox with three glowing red tails poised like fiery spears. Though smaller than the Wolf King, her presence radiated raw power.

Without hesitation, she charged the hunters closing in on Xiǎo Láng. Her claws slashed through their ranks, spilling blood and scattering bodies like leaves in a storm. Screams filled the air as she moved with blinding speed, tearing through the remaining men and sending them sprawling. When the dust settled, she stood, legs braced, shielding the trembling cub with her towering form.

The hunters faltered. Some froze; others fled into the forest, their courage shattered by the sight of the three-tailed beast. But their leader, a masked man in a pitch-black robe, stepped forward. His cultivation aura bore down like a crushing wave, forcing his men to halt their retreat.

"Cowards," he snarled. "I'll handle this."

With a single leap, he landed before SìSì. His cold eyes locked onto hers, and the air crackled with tension. She braced herself, feeling the weight of his power. A level 50 King Master. If she had five tails, she could stand a chance. Seven? She could swat him aside like a fly. But at her current strength, the odds were grim.

Still, she lunged. Her claws flashed, but each strike met his iron-like body, leaving no mark. He smirked beneath his mask, the glint of superiority in his eyes. A master of the Iron King Body Art—her blows might as well have been raindrops.

"Pathetic," he said, his tone mocking. Then he moved.

His fists, now hardened like steel, hammered her relentlessly. Each strike resounded like thunder, forcing her back, step by step. Pain seared through her, but she refused to yield. She dodged, countered, and lunged, only to be struck down again. Blood matted her crimson fur as she staggered, her breaths ragged but defiant.

Then came a crushing blow to her head. She crumpled, blood trickling from the wound. But even as her vision blurred, she rose unsteadily, standing between Xiǎo Láng and the hunter. Her body trembled, yet her resolve burned brighter than ever.

Xiǎo Láng sobbed, stepping forward. "Big sister, stop! Leave me! I'm not worth your life!"

His cries pierced the night. Nearby, the wolves battling the diversionary hunters turned to witness SìSì's stand. Among them, the Wolf King bared his fangs, fury igniting in his golden eyes.

"That fox risks her life for our cubs," he howled. "Even a child stands braver than us. Shall we let them die while we cower? No! Fight! Die with honor!"

The pack roared in unison, their despair replaced by fiery determination. Though their bodies bore countless wounds, they surged forward, tearing into their enemies with renewed fury. Blood soaked the ground as wolves fell one after another, but they fought with unrelenting ferocity, their howls echoing through the forest.

SìSì's vision dimmed, her strength waning. The hunter's iron fist struck her again, sending her crashing into a boulder. She coughed, blood staining the ground beneath her. Yet she pushed herself upright, her gaze locking onto Xiǎo Láng.

"Run," she whispered silently, her body tensing for one final stand.

The black-robed man's hand rose high, charged with deadly energy.

"This time, you won't rise again, stupid beast! You should've chosen slavery over death! Centuries of asceticism wasted!"

As his fist prepared to strike, a massive force intervened. A giant palm, as large as the Wolf King's, slammed into him with brutal force. The black-robed man flew backward, crashing through trees before slamming into a boulder, shattering it entirely. His body lay embedded in the rubble, lifeless.

The battlefield froze. Wolves and hunters alike stood paralyzed, their gazes fixed on the monstrous figure stepping into the clearing.

The humans aimed their fire-tipped spears upward. At first, all they could see were the creature's colossal feet. Slowly, they adjusted their aim higher, trembling as the full figure came into view.

"Wh-what is that thing?"

The beast towered above them; an ape-like colossus clads in ancient war armor. his cold, expressionless face glowed with fiery-red eyes, radiating an aura of pure malice.

One hunter activated a Beast-Level Scanner. Relief flickered briefly as the screen displayed SSS-level. But the relief turned to horror as the device failed to stop—its readings surpassing the known limits.

"This… this is impossible!"

Before they could react, a dense fog rolled in, wrapping the forest in eerie silence. The sweet but overwhelming scent of plumeria flowers filled the air, choking their senses.

Then came the laughter.

A haunting giggle echoed, each note laced with malice. Four hunters fell to their knees, pale as death. One of them stammered, his voice breaking.

"It… it's her... Sister Ān'nà!"

Floating into view, Gǔ Tiān Ān'nà appeared—a spectral nightmare. Her hollow back gaped like a portal to the abyss. Her limbs stretched unnaturally long, fingers curling like talons. Blood-red streaks stained her once-white robes, and her fanged smile exuded pure menace.

"Hello, my handsome brothers," Ān'nà cooed mockingly. "Did you miss me?"

Zhào Shù, the leader, shuddered violently. "It's real. I wasn't hallucinating... Sister Ān'nà is real!"

"Pull yourselves together!" he barked at his men. "This is just a trick! Summon your beasts! Martial artists, attack with everything you have!"

Weapons flared to life, and Beast Masters attempted their calls. But nothing came.

"Why aren't they appearing?" one martial artist demanded.

Ān'nà floated closer, her tone dripping with mockery. "Oh dear, maybe your little pets are napping?"

Panic spread as Summoners frantically tried again.

"Summon, Giant Steel Centipede!"

"Summon, Poisonous Butterfly!"

"Summon, Flame Serpent!"

Silence.

One Summoner entered his Summoning Space, desperate. His scream echoed back to the physical world. "My butterfly… it's gone!" The only remains were shattered antennae and broken wings.

Another Summoner followed suit, emerging moments later, clutching the scorched remnants of his serpent's scales.

The third dared to look—and froze in terror. A hulking, worm-like creature devoured what was left of his centipede, his grotesque maw dripping ichor. The Summoner's spirit snapped. He returned to reality, his face pale as death, and collapsed unconscious.

Zhào Shù fell to his knees, trembling. "Please, Sister Ān'nà! Mercy, I beg you!"

Ān'nà tilted her head, feigning innocence. "Mercy? But I haven't done anything, dear brother. I'm just... watching."

Her hollow laughter pierced the air as the hunters realized the truth—they were trapped, their beasts devoured, and their hope extinguished.

Gǔ Tiān Ān'nà's voice sliced through the tension. "Alright, brats! Show yourselves!"

From the third Summoning Space ring, two figures emerged, dragging the atmosphere deeper into terror.

The first was a green-skinned child, goblin-like but eerily human-faced, standing nonchalantly, picking his nose as if indifferent to the chaos. The second was a golden-brown worm, gnawing on the mutilated remains of a giant Centipede Beast.

The scene froze everyone—humans, beasts, even ghosts. Ān'nà, terrifying in her own right, shuddered when her gaze fell on the child-like creature, GǔGǔ. Her spectral form trembled, her voice cracking. "Who… what is that?"

Wǎng, the towering, armored figure, stood rigid. His fur bristled, a rare sign of fear.

Nearby, Si Xiǎo Láng, the young Wolf Beast, peeked before Si Sì Sì shielded his eyes. "Don't look, Little Wolf!" she hissed. Tú Yòu, the smug green ghost, chuckled. "Relax, GǔGǔ's full. He won't eat us… probably."

Xiǎo Láng whimpered. "What if he's still hungry?"

The humans, desperate to reclaim control, attacked. Their bravery turned to horror in moments.

One man's blade sliced toward Ān'nà, but she pivoted. His arm sunk into her hollowed back, unable to withdraw. With a sickening grin, Ān'nà severed it cleanly, tossing it to GǔGǔ, who devoured it alongside the Centipede remains.

Another group tried to strike Wǎng. Their weapons shattered against his armored legs. Wǎng retaliated with brutal efficiency, flattening them like insects beneath his massive frame.

Others charged Tú Yòu, but he vanished. Moments later, their clothes floated away, leaving them naked and exposed. Storage rings emptied midair as if mocking their vulnerability.

Panic erupted. Some fled screaming; others collapsed, frozen or soiling themselves. Ān'nà groaned in disgust. "This… this is revolting! Cover yourselves!" With a wave of her hand, a thick fog enveloped the humans, dragging them into a shared hallucination. Their screams faded into silence.

Turning to Tú Yòu, she snapped, "You thought I wanted to see that? Idiot!"

Tú Yòu darted behind Wǎng, who had shrunk to a still-imposing two meters. "Enough!" Wǎng's command silenced them all, even GǔGǔ, who shrank back in apprehension.

Ān'nà sighed. "Let's leave."

Tú Yòu interjected, "Master is coming."

The Wolf Beasts, trembling in the shadows, stirred. Among them, Si Xiǎo Láng ran to his father, the Four-Eyed Wolf King, Sì Yǎn Láng Wáng. The massive wolf lowered his head, gently licking his son.

"Mother… she's gone," Xiǎo Láng whimpered.

The Wolf King nuzzled him. "I know, my son." His voice carried both sorrow and pride as he glanced at Xiǎo Láng's companions. "You've found strong allies. Please tell your father who they really are. Why they want to help us ?"

A sudden voice broke the silence.

"Let me explain."

The beasts looked around but saw no one. Their eyes fixed on an empty spot.

"They can't see you, Young Master." whispered Ān'nà, breaking the tension.

"Ah, right. My bad." Yán Shèngxīn deactivated his invisibility, revealing a teenage boy in rumpled pajamas with messy hair.

"I'm Yán Shèngxīn, their master—including this troublesome fox who acted without my permission."

SìSì paled at his words and piercing gaze. She trembled, unsure of her master's temperament. She hadn't been with him long, but his powerful aura and ghostly allies were enough to unnerve her.

Xiǎo Láng, the little wolf, stepped forward.

"Elder Sister saved me. If not for her, I'd be dead."

The Wolf King, Sì Yǎn Láng Wáng, knelt.

"Young Master, spare her. She saved our young. Punish us instead for failing to protect them."

As the wolves knelt in unison, Shèngxīn moved closer.

"Stand aside. This fox is my tamed beast. Her actions represent me."

Xiǎo Láng refused to move, but SìSì understood the bond between master and beast. With a heavy heart, she lifted Xiǎo Láng and handed him to the Wolf King.

The Wolf King tried to block her but faltered under an immense cultivation pressure. Pale and trembling, he and his wolves collapsed. Some broke their legs under the strain.

"Who is this boy? Even the black-robed man couldn't do this. His cultivation… it's lord level!"

The ghosts nearby remained composed, though Tú Yòu, the weakest, hid behind Wǎng, struggling to stand.

"Master, forgive them," SìSì pleaded, blood seeping from her wounds. "Punish me alone. It was my decision to help Xiǎo Láng."

Shèngxīn stepped beside her, his hand raised. Everyone turned away, bracing for the worst.

SìSì closed her eyes, resigned. But instead of pain, warmth washed over her. Her wounds healed, the pressure lifted, and her breathing steadied.

The beasts and ghosts felt the oppressive force vanish. They rose shakily.

Xiǎo Láng leapt forward, placing himself between them.

"I'll protect Sis. Fight me if you dare!"

Shèngxīn chuckled.

"Wolf King, your son is extraordinary. He's destined to become the Wolf God."

"Thank you, my lord," the Wolf King replied, bowing deeply.

Shèngxīn saluted the wolves.

"As master of these creatures, I apologize for interfering. This Red Fox is still learning, but I'll ensure he matures into a Nine-Tailed Fox capable of aiding oppressed beasts."

The Wolf King stared in shock at Shèngxīn's words.

"This young man... Who is he?" The Wolf King couldn't hide his awe as he knelt again.

"Sì Yǎn Láng Wáng thanks the heavens for this meeting. The Four-Eyed Wolves pledge loyalty to the Young Master. Command us to cross seas or walk through fire, and we shall obey."

Seeing their king kneel twice—a rarity reserved for extraordinary power—his wolves followed suit.

Shèngxīn smiled. "Rise, King. We are allies, not subordinates."

SìSì explained, "Alphas like the Four-Eyed Wolves only bow to unmatched strength. They've never submitted to anyone, not even the Beast King of this forest. Now, they offer themselves as your army."

Shèngxīn considered. An army could help uncover his family's mysterious death. Even at Lord level, facing powerful enemies alone would be unwise.

"Very well, Wolf King. Your pack shall be my army when the time comes. For now, focus on healing, rebuilding, and strengthening your ranks. I will assist you."

The Wolf King bowed. "We obey, Young Master."

"Good. We'll withdraw now. Follow SìSì's guidance for future orders."

Tú Yòu stepped forward. "Excuse me, my lord." For the first time, he saluted politely. Ān'nà chuckled. "Finally realized our Young Master can copy our abilities, huh? No wonder he's already Lord level."

Ignoring her, Shèngxīn addressed Tú Yòu. "What is it?"

"I'd like to recover the humans' treasures and collect the wolves' remains, with your permission," Tú Yòu replied, glancing nervously at GǔGǔ.

Shèngxīn turned to the Wolf King. "Would you allow some of your fallen's remains for GǔGǔ, the Golden Silkworm?"

The Wolf King examined GǔGǔ with respect. "The Golden Silkworm? Remarkable. Yes, Young Master, we consent. Their families agree, seeing it as a way to honor their fallen."

After coordinating with his pack, the Wolf King handed over a selection of remains. "Let this offering bring peace to the dead and strength to the living."

"Thank you, King. Now, focus on relocating and rebuilding."

As Shèngxīn turned to leave, the Wolf King stopped him. "Young Master, I entrust my son to you. Make him a worthy Beast."

Sì Xiǎo Láng, the young Four-Eyed Wolf, gasped. "Father, no! I am the prince. I'll stay and protect our clan!"

The Wolf King calmed him. "You'll always be our prince, but the world is vast. Beside the Young Master, you'll grow into a legend and bring honor to us all."

Shèngxīn smiled but shook his head. "I'm sorry, King. I decline."

"Young Master, why? Is it because of his earlier actions?" The Wolf King's disappointment was palpable.

"I won't tame a young beast mourning his mother. I'll give him tasks after his mourning. If he succeeds, I'll consider it."

"Understood, Young Master."

The wolf pack howled in unison, "Long live our prince! Long live the Wolf King!"

Shengxin departed with his beasts, leaving the wolves to rebuild their pack. They needed to relocate and recover quickly after their losses.

On the way back, Shengxin gave orders:

"Ān'nà, you have two tasks. First, locate my teacher, Fēi Hǔ, and enter his dream. Show him tonight's events, but omit our involvement. Highlight Tú Yòu looting the bodies and reveal the family token of the Liáng Clan. Let him report the Liáng Clan's crimes to the authorities."

"Second, weaken the four thugs from earlier. Take half their souls and make them confess the Liáng Clan's crimes repeatedly."

"Wǎng, gather wood for five houses. Wait for Tú Yòu before returning."

"Tú Yòu, did you find the Storage Ring from Wǎng's target? Use it to store the hunters' loot and corpses. Then, help Wǎng gather wood and place it in the Summoning Space I created."

"SìSì, guide GǔGǔ into the Summoning Space. Let him arrange the wolf corpses. Afterward, rest—you're still recovering."

"Yes, Young Master!" they responded in unison.

Shengxin sped up, eager to reach home. Not out of fear, but for much-needed rest. If Fēi Hǔ acted on his dream, the incident would be handled.

Yawning widely, he muttered to himself, "I really need sleep..."
