And that was it. I thought it was over for me for a second, but no. Instead, I was stuck in countless nightmares anyone could have, like falling from the sky, drowning in water, or burning in fire. Honestly, though, I'm not really afraid of those things. Sure, some were extremely painful, and others were just disgusting, like ones involving spiders. But honestly, after living an incredibly good life like mine, these things didn't seem so bad—if you could take out the pain.
After about 100 different kinds of nightmares, I finally woke up. I felt a little disgusted and even threw up because the whole experience had left me feeling dizzy and nauseous. But the one thing I knew for sure was that I was alive—I wasn't dead yet, once again.
Once again, I decided to look around to figure out what was happening around me. It seemed I was in a city in India. I didn't know how I ended up there, but yeah, I was in India. From the surroundings, it looked like New Delhi—there were some familiar landmarks that gave it away.
People were screaming, and monsters were attacking and eating others. I stood there, just watching it all unfold, thinking, What can I do? What should I do? What's going to happen to me?
Then my eyes fell on my hands, and I was surprised. I used to have a much darker skin tone, but now it seemed different. I wasn't as dark as before, but not too light either. My skin had a tan tone, resembling that of an Arabic or Persian woman—not too white, but not too dark. I stared at it, thinking, What happened to my skin?
Coincidentally, my eyes caught sight of the watch on my wrist. I remembered from that nightmare-like experience—or whatever it was—that these watches provided information about the current condition of the humans they were on. They were gifted to those who survived the sparrow bites.
I looked at the watch, and it displayed a message: "Hey, hello dear customer! Welcome to the show. Your soul was saved when you were hit by the car and transported into this girl's body. This girl died in the nightmare because she got your nightmare, and you got hers."
The thing is, now I'm in a new body. That much was clear from the message on the watch. So, I really did die when I thought I ran in front of that car. The girl got my nightmare instead, and I guess it was just too much for her. She must have thought dying was better than experiencing my nightmare.
And as for me, I got her nightmare—that's probably why I wasn't feeling as scared as I should have been. Her nightmare didn't hit me as hard as mine hit her. In a way, I guess I helped her rest in peace.
For now, I'll just continue living in this body until I figure out a better way to die—one that doesn't involve any pain.
I continued walking down the road. It was horrifying to see the monsters attacking people all around me, but what could I do for them? I was just as helpless, powerless, and useless in this world as they were. Watching from a distance was all I could do.
So, I kept moving—step after step, just moving forward.
And then... what?
A monster.
A big, black, spider-like monster.
It attacked me. Yes, it attacked me.
No, no, no, no! I didn't want to get attacked by a freaking monster and die like this. Out of sheer panic, I mistakenly moved my hand in a strange way, and guess what? I teleported.
Yes, I teleported.
Suddenly, I was in a green field—a very, very green field that seemed never-ending, endless, or whatever you'd call it. I sat there, stunned, muttering, Wow, where am I?
But then, I moved my hand again, and what the hell? I was back in the same place with that terrifying spider monster staring me down.
And then, out of nowhere, a little girl appeared and threw a massive stone—no, no, not just a stone, a huge boulder-like thing. Panicking, I gathered all the strength I had and hurled it straight at the monster.
Thankfully, the monster backed off a little. Remembering some things from that dreamlike experience, I immediately struck it in the eyes. Then, grabbing a sharp object I found on the ground, I thrust it into the monster's neck with all my strength.
And just like that, I killed it.
Thankfully, I was saved from that freaking monster.
