Adam was glad he wore this particular set of clothes today as he roamed the streets of Askar, even after having lived in this world for over a year, Adam Still found it difficult at times to adjust to Askars hostile tendencies, life would have been so much better if he had been reborn into a tropical paradise, however instead, he is stuck in this shithole.
Adams's eyes darted in the vigilance of the potential threats while walking through this particular district, the district of the Smothering Sands. It wasn't uncommon for [Thieves] to stalk the streets leading from where the merchants sold their goods to the district where Askar's Wealthiest residents lived. After all, anyone who could afford to pay the fees to enter the Smothering Sands made for a good target for pickpockets despite the higher risks involved.
However, it wasn't only criminals that he had to keep an eye on, to be exact he had to worry about ornate white robes worn by members of the temple of Karno, who if given the chance would jump to Harass and extort him, but he was relieved to see that they were nowhere in sight.
I guess the sun-worshipping bastards aren't going to try and ruin my day for once, Adam thought with a smirk.
With his mood lifted, Adam continued to make his way while doing so he took notice of all the bustling stalls that covered the streets while hearing the shouts of traders trying to sell their goods, Askar held access to the narrow valley that led the Kashmir empire, thus allowing it to control access to the many trades passing through the Kalahari desert.
Along the streets, vibrant stalls lined with colorful awnings provide shade to the merchants and customers. Adam could smell the aroma of exotic spices, while the sounds of haggling and conversations filled his ear. Various goods from textiles and pottery to expensive enchanted trinkets and jewellery were on display, many of them coming from distant lands that Adam had only heard about in tales.
As much as he might hate the heat, Adam knew that there were many places out there much worse than Askar. The city was quite prosperous thanks to its location and was also unusually tolerant toward people of different species. That last part was particularly helpful given that humans were by no means the majority in the city.
While continuing to walk down the street Adam took notice of a stall selling alluring fruits and of course, he had to buy some after all business was booming and who doesn't love a sweet treat, Adam asked the vendor (who turned out to be a lizard kin) how much one Munjigo pear would cost.
This is a Munjigo pear, this is easily worth 10 silver coins especially considering there is a chance to receive a point in spirit, the lizard kin exclaimed however, Adam knew that this was too good to be true and that the lizard kin was trying to scam him.
How about 5 silver instead after all no one seems to be buying them. Adam stated. The lizard kin hissed at him angrily but Adam knew that he was right and that the merchant didn't have much leverage.
Sure enough, they eventually agreed upon a price of 7 silver coins. With the transaction complete, he took a bite of the fruit as he continued along his way. It was quite delicious and tasted something like an apple and a mango, as he ate the fruit, Adam decided to pull up his status, he wanted to check if his spirit had actually risen after ingesting the fruit.
Name: Adam
Class: Lesser necromancer Level 18
Stats: Strength: 16 Vitality: 16 Agility: 16 Spirit: 25 Willpower: 22 Control: 22
Active Skills:
Summon Lesson Skeleton, Lesser Raise Dead, Bone Spear, Blood Contract, Bone Manipulation.
Passive Skills: Magic Perception, Bone Perception, Judge, Skeletal Control, Magic Control.
Nope. Spirit is still the same, Adam thought as he turned his attention away from his status.
He was not particularly disappointed because it was obvious from the start that the merchant was just trying to get a better price for his wares. There probably was someone who did improve their spirit by eating the fruit, however, most likely they were already on the verge of an increase.
Before he made it to Sunstone Heights, Adam cleaned himself up as his business was purely based on word of mouth, and looking like a common street rat would not help.
Adam made his way to a mirror and did a quick check, he looked quite average to a human of the Kalahari desert. With dark skin, grey eyes, and a tough build gained from years of living in a harsh environment. He was a tad shorter than he was in his past life, standing at just under six feet tall.
Just as Adam felt satisfied with his inspection and was about to continue, he spotted a familiar set of white robes in the reflection, which caused him to let out an annoyed sigh.
Damn it. Just when I thought that I wouldn't have to deal with them today.
Turning around, Adam was greeted with the smug and greedy expression of Cleric Nierosh, a mid-ranking member of Karno. As the lizard kin approached with an arrogant saunter, Adam resigned himself to leaving this interaction a few silver short.
