What would you do if you gained a power that surpasses humans, would you become a hero or become a villain? For most people they will sink into the background and they watch other people live out their dreams people say it's fate or maybe they say it's what god chose but for our protagonist he says to the fuck with fate.
The protagonist Toshiro is your ordinary student he blends into the background of classes makes a few friends online but he's someone you would call a loner he's not very smart and his looks are average at best. He does however frequent a manga shop near his school anything for him to escape the shit world that is his life.
One day in class everyone notice a rift open in the sky and soon it began the outbreak of 2024 nearly half the population wiped out, what was it a virus? Maybe a terrorist attack? Aliens? No they were monsters that anyone would call fantasy until they seen them in the street mauling an old woman too slow to run or maybe your dog you left outside.
It was terrifying until the first generation of awakeners began their onslaught and made sure no one else could die this time around the worlds situation began to settle and a common job was to become a hunter and kill monsters for a living but after another incident it became mandatory for skill awakeners to fight monsters even if they were weak.
Thus we are back to our protagonist or what other would call a side character someone who would stand at the back and kill any of the lower ranked stragglers he was soon nicknamed the cockroach by his comrades because no matter where he went he would somehow live even with his mediocre skills.
In the barracks he was stated as an angel of death as when someone gets close to him they would die saving him and for this reason he sat by himself reading manga as his past time then the commander walked in they all stood in an orderly fashion, "today soldiers you are going to Italy to reclaim it from the monsters do you understand" his voice booming with confidence they replied in unison "yes sir",
They began packing and toshiro grabbed the giant bag of weapon for his teammates he trudged into one of the many helicopters and they were buzzed off to Italy the blades whirring loudly and the men's chatting was like a symphony that toshiro has heard many a time.
As soon as they got there they were thrown from the helicopter one of the men caught them with his ability which made them slow fall down as they began their journey through Italy they looked around for the first team they were meant to meet though the team wasn't there.
"Hey cockroach go ahead" one of the men said though toshiro was used to it, he walked ahead looking around soon he hears a noise and walks into a building to see the back of one of the soldiers he comes up behind them "are you the first team?" He asked with curiosity and to no response he turned the person around to see a husk of a human the eyes were just sockets into the dark abyss, the mouth was agape and dry and his skin shrivelled like a prune.
As toshiro called everyone over they all inspected the surroundings for monsters before inspecting the dead man "what's happened to this guy" "where are the others" the room filled with questions soon silenced by the sound of a crack they listened another crack and another pinpointing it to the body as his ribcage burst open and with that imps begin leaving his body lighting a few soldiers on fire before everyone begins fighting.
They finish up disgusted and surprised "what the fuck was that!" Screamed one of the soldiers with a scolded arm, cockroach got close as everyone looked at him grossed out by his calmness he then speaks "I don't know but we should leave" they all laugh at him no one will follow his orders "imps are only low rank monsters we we're just surprised what's the worst that can happen" a cocky soldier said showing off his flame ability.
A noise is heard and soon the building is surrounded by ghouls with a weakness to fire, oil is poured on to them and the man lights them up laughing "useless is this all it took to steal Italy" after they finished the ghouls tired they wait in the building, they suddenly see a soldier at the door one of the first squad soldiers no one bothered to ask about his silent entrance "hey where have you been" the soldier speaks with anger at the death of his comrades, the soldier at the door falls to the ground and all that's there now is a spiked tail and that tail leads to a demon.
Everyone jumps ready to fight but before they can do anything the cocky guy steps up "a mere demon dares to get in my way" he fires a massive blade of flames and laughs but it's cut short as his head slides from his neck and hits the floor leaving a puddle of crimson liquid under him.
"Humans always so confident yet so weak" the demon speaks and watches as the demon kills his comrades and finally it meets eyes with him "one left I couldn't see you as you weren't attacking me" the demon appears infront of toshiro and grabs his face with its clawed hands "your weak way weaker than these people who faced me without looking back but your eyes carry a certain determination" the demon lifts him into the air and as he does so toshiro with all his light tries to stab it's chest but the demons speed is too fast and he stabs air "a humans final struggle how valiant" the demon smiles and puts his hand on toshiros head befoee ripping it off.
