After completely devouring the parasitic beast Kabane, Lin Moze remained still, first choosing to view the memories of the monster's former human host.
Flashes of images flooded his mind, revealing the identity of the Kabane before its infection.
It turned out that this Kabane had been a Savior—a terribly unlucky one.
This Savior had drawn a parasitic beast larva from his starter pack.
Following the system's prompts, he used jump ropes and headphone wires to replicate the protagonist's actions from the anime, successfully grafting the parasite onto his left hand.
At first, it was a strong start.
Armed with the parasite's power, the Kabane posed no threat to him.
He fought bravely, leading a group of survivors to the school gates.
But fate had other plans.
When they reached the gate, another group of students in a car tried to escape.
One of the Savior's companions attempted to stop the car, but the driver didn't even slow down.
The Savior sacrificed himself, pushing his friend out of the way—only to have his leg crushed by the car.
Paralyzed and abandoned by his group, the Savior was overrun by Kabane and ultimately infected—becoming the monster Lin Moze had just defeated.
Lin Moze finished watching the memories with mixed feelings.
"I don't understand his choice," he thought. "But I respect it."
The Savior had been a selfless hero.
The kind of ally Lin Moze appreciated—the type who'd sacrifice themselves for others.
Not that Lin Moze would ever do the same.
Pushing aside his thoughts, Lin Moze turned his attention to the abilities he had gained from devouring the parasitic beast.
First, the muscle structure of the parasite had enhanced his body.
His strength and endurance saw noticeable improvements, but the real prize was his new combat techniques.
Claws and Whip-Blades!
At a thought, black-and-red veins writhed under Lin Moze's skin.
His arm transformed—revealing gray-black muscles that pulsed with faint crimson light.
His fingers stretched, becoming half-meter-long razor-sharp claws that gleamed menacingly under the moonlight.
Lin Moze crouched slightly and dragged his claws across the concrete ground.
Five deep gouges were left behind.
But that wasn't all.
Lin Moze focused again, transforming his other arm.
This time, rows of sharp barbs formed along his forearm, resembling overlapping hooks from his elbow to wrist.
Beneath these barbs, glowing red muscle fibers pulsed like coiled springs—ready to unleash explosive force at any moment.
His hand took the shape of a sleek, elongated spike, ideal for piercing and slashing.
He discovered that the spike could be reshaped into hooked claws, allowing him to latch onto walls and maneuver mid-air.
Excited, Lin Moze turned to the school building nearby.
With a flick of his left arm, the whip-blade shot out like a bullet, embedding itself deep into the wall.
He launched himself forward, letting the whip-blade pull him upward at high speed.
Just before impacting the wall, Lin Moze retracted the whip, using his momentum to run a few steps up the vertical surface before reaching the roof.
Then, with a leap, he vaulted back to the main building's rooftop.
His landing startled Marin Kitagawa, who had been asleep on her mattress.
She rubbed her eyes and looked at him groggily.
"Lin-kun? What's going on?"
"Nothing serious. I just woke up and spotted some Kabane outside, so I took care of them."
"You sure have a lot of energy… I'm going back to sleep."
Mumbling drowsily, Marin flopped back onto her mattress, her soft breathing returning shortly.
Lin Moze chuckled, kicked off his shoes, and lay down on his own mattress.
He glanced at his clothes—or rather, the mimicry created by the Blacklight Virus.
Though not real fabric, the simulated texture was nearly indistinguishable from genuine clothing.
It could even be removed like normal clothes.
"If only I could absorb abilities from spiritual entities like Stand powers…"
Lin Moze lamented the limitations of his devouring abilities.
He fell asleep with plans already brewing for the next day.
The next morning, sunlight poured through the windows.
Despite the chaos of the world, the sun rose as usual.
And with it—a new fight.
This time, though, Marin Kitagawa was holding the knife.
Slash!
The kitchen knife dug into a Kabane's neck, stopping at the bone.
The Kabane roared in pain, swiping at Marin, but she stumbled back just in time.
A golden, jelly-like mass extended from Marin's arm, grabbing the knife and pulling it free.
"Phew…" Marin exhaled, turning to Lin Moze.
"How was that? I didn't drop the knife this time!"
Lin Moze leaned against the wall, nodding.
"Not bad. You're improving."
Then he glanced at the still-moving Kabane and smirked:
"But seriously, it's been hours—you could've finished it by now!"
