Chapter 5 - Chapter 5: Life-and-Death Friendship

The ethereal voice echoed in Li Ke's mind, an unexpected surprise that felt as if he had casually bought a lottery ticket and won a million-dollar jackpot. He couldn't believe that a mere 10% probability had led to this outcome.

As for what was copied... well, that was entirely a matter of luck. Typically, the higher the quality of a "word tag," the lower the probability of it being copied. For instance, the chance of copying a red word tag might be as low as 1 in 10,000 or even one in a million.

But it seemed that fate had smiled upon Li Ke. The Fire-red Eyes ability was one of the most powerful in the entire Hunter x Hunter universe. When activated, it would enhance six of the system's nen abilities to 100%, which was precisely why Kurapika was able to single-handedly defeat the A-ranked criminal, Uvogin, after obtaining this power.

Such a formidable ability, reminiscent of the Uchiha clan from the Naruto world, was coveted by many. The destruction of their clan by those seeking their unique eyes was likely motivated by greed, rather than a mere desire for power.

Now, Li Ke had somehow managed to gain this power. Moreover, he didn't even have to worry about his eyes being discovered. His luck could only be described as extraordinary.

Since battles could yield word tags as drops, he planned to take every opportunity to duel the members of the Li Ke group, especially since his own word tag was incredibly powerful. He had to test his luck and see what else he could obtain.

A massive wave suddenly crashed into the ship, nearly capsizing it.

Kurapika, who had been injured, was caught off guard and was tossed overboard by the wave. Kazuo, the rookie sailor, also came close to falling off but was saved by Leorio and Xiao Jie.

"Disaster!" Xiao Jie cried out as he watched Kurapika fall into the sea.

Before anyone could react, Li Ke leaped off the ship after Kurapika, diving into the stormy ocean.

At night, during a storm of this magnitude, falling overboard was almost a death sentence. No one could survive such treacherous conditions.

The old captain and the sailors were shocked by Li Ke's sudden decision to jump in, fearing it was too reckless.

"Ke Ge!" Xiao Jie screamed, but his voice was drowned out by the storm.

Amidst the crashing waves, Kurapika struggled, water pouring into his mouth as he sank deeper, near the point of drowning.

However, just as he thought all hope was lost, a hand reached into his field of vision and grabbed him.

"Li Ke?!" Kurapika coughed, swallowing more saltwater, his mind racing with disbelief. Why would Li Ke save him?

Despite their earlier confrontation, Li Ke had jumped into the stormy sea to rescue him. The irony was not lost on Kurapika as he desperately tried to shake free, believing that his death would save Li Ke from certain doom.

However, Li Ke refused to let go, dragging Kurapika upward and swimming against the waves, even lifting him above the water's surface.

In these dangerous conditions, even the best swimmers could suffocate and drown. The only way to survive was to keep the person above the water.

Kurapika, gasping for air and crying, could only ask, "Why... why are you saving me?!"

But Li Ke remained determined, swimming steadily toward the ship despite the harsh conditions.

"I'm fine, Kurapika! Stay with me! The storm will pass soon!"

Li Ke, with his golden "Water Breathing" ability, was unaffected by the storm. He could survive for days underwater without needing to breathe. The storm was nothing to him. But he couldn't just watch Kurapika die.

Half an hour later, the storm finally subsided. The ship was a mess, but the weather had cleared up.

Xiao Jie, who had been pulled back on board, rushed to the edge of the ship, shouting in disbelief.

"Ke Ge! Ke Ge is still alive! Kurapika is alive too!"

The old captain and the crew looked at him in shock.

At the ship's edge, a drenched Li Ke, his muscles rippling like a leopard's, hoisted Kurapika onto the ship with one hand.

Even amidst the fierce storm, Li Ke had defied the odds, saving them both.
