Chapter 1 - Crash Landing in Unknown Lands

A song of birds, the shifty movements of distant prowlers. Sparks of electricity, the moans of metal tilting with the coarse wind surrounding the place she was in. Everything sounded so familiar, yet no names of what they actually were came to mind.

All she could think about was how much pain her body was in. Yet, she couldn't move a muscle. Something wouldn't let her move, or maybe, she was just accepting her fate that was nearing ever closer. The cold crept all over her body, reaching the tips of both her fingers and toes. She didn't know the name of this kind of cold, but she knew it was one she would be forced to welcome. Just accept, drift away with thi-

"GET UP, PRIVATE!"

A voiced boomed in her mind, forcing her eyes open and her body awake. The sudden breath she took caused the blood leaking down her chin to race down her throat and forced her into a choking fit.

A painful groan left her lips as she slowly recovered, only to be met with a greater pain coming from her side. She went to look down at her body, only to realize something was blocking her vision.

The hell...am I?

Even her thoughts were weary, barely comprehensible through the loud thumping of something in her ears.

Finally reaching up, she gripped the helmet over her head and tore it away from her before dropping it to the ground next to her. Able to see now, she looked down at her side and noticed a long, thin piece of see-through material had pierced her side.

Glass. That was the name of this stuff, right? What's going on?

She asked herself as she leaned back against the soft cushion of the chair she found herself in. Over the broken counter covered in levers and buttons before her laid a horrific sight. If she wasn't in so much pain, she would've thrown up on the spot.

The space was about as large as a luxury apartment on the top of a skyscraper, but it was riddled in carnage. Bodies of people who's names she faintly remembered were strewn all over the place, laying over consoles, the ground, while some laid outside hanging on the branches of the trees that pierced the glass from the outside.

Given the carnage, she instinctively realized she was in a crashed ship. A frigate, one that was to run and gather reinforcements from a different sector. Images of an intense battle behind where the glass was once unbroken unfolded behind her eyes, bringing both fear and anger over her heart.

She recalled the woman hanging on a branch outside, half eaten by the animals of the forest, making a desperate decision to retreat and call for help. In the midst of their escape, something his the Warp Engine and threw them off course. She recalled the call to brace for impact.

Then, nothing.

Though she wanted to grieve those she'd come to consider family, but the memories of her training invaded her mind and forced her out of her seat. She struggled with a pain filled groan to the main console where their Lieutenant once stood. Somehow it remained in tact, save for the broken corner and smeared blood from the impact.

It seemed she wasn't out that long, given the console still had enough power to operate.
