(Marley POV)
-2 days later-
I sat at my desk in my new office as the new lead manager, I typed away on my computer finishing some reports and files. This job was not as easy as it looked. I had double the work then before, at least the pay was good and I could take care of my family. The thought of my family and supporting them made things easier.
My thoughts also drifted to my boss Jonathan often, I wondered how he was doing after the incident with his mom. I haven't seen him since the hospital, He could have avoided me. Sometimes throughout the day, I would think of him, like the affectionate moment in the waiting room.
I dreamed of the feeling of his plump lips on mine as I leaned in, and I was snapped out of thoughts as my office door flew open. The person was Zach my best friend. He walked in quickly and shut the door behind him. I looked at him as he had this look that meant he was up to something.
"Why didn't you tell me you got promoted? And second, why didn't you tell me you were all buddy-buddy with the boss" said Zach with a smirk and looking at Me waiting for an answer from me
"Hey to you too Zach I must have forgotten and what are you talking about?" I said with a small frown and finishing a file as I spoke looking at the computer and Zach
"Sorry, Hey Marley but don't pretend a good friend of mine, said she saw you and the boss real close and talking at a hospital," said Zach smirking wider and leaning on the desk a bit
"Oh that Doesn't mean anything he was going through something, I was just being a shoulder for him in his time of need," I said calmly with a straight face hoping he would just leave it alone
"Right Right whatever you say Marley but I'll be watching you from now on bestie," said Zach with a grin looking at me as he walked backward and pointing
I chuckled softly and shook my head at his antics as he left, I went back to doing my work quietly as the hours went by. I was done with all my work sometime later. I turned all the files in and logged off before standing to stretch. I looked out the window and it was dark out, as I then looked at the clock on the wall seeing it was six o'clock.
I yawned then stepped around the desk to the filing cabinets grabbed my purse, then my jacket, and walked out of the office closing behind me. As I walked down the hall I felt a sudden wave of nausea, my head began to spin as I collapsed against a wall. My legs just gave out as I fell and everything went black.
-Timeskip-
I slowly woke up with a groan and looked around seeing white walls, and some equipment. I realized I was in a hospital as I sat up slowly. I moved to sit on the edge of the hospital bed. The door opened and a doctor came in holding his clipboard.
"Good to see you're awake Miss Brown, I am Doctor Reed and how are you feeling?" said Doctor Reed looking concerned as I glanced at him
"I feel a little sluggish, what happened and how did I get here?" I said confused as I rubbed my forehead
"Well, you passed out from high blood pressure and stress, also Mr. Blackwell dropped you off and then left," said Dr. Reed and looking at his clipboard then back up at me
"Oh thanks for letting me know," I said giving him a small smile
"No problem Ms. Brown just try to keep your blood pressure down, and also stop stressing yourself," said Dr. Reed writing something down as I got on my feet
"Am I free to leave?" I asked grabbing my stuff off a chair
"Oh yes go right ahead," said Dr. Reed giving me a small smile and stepping aside as I walked past him to leave
I walked out of the room and down the hall to the elevator to leave, once I made it to the elevator I pressed the button and waited. A couple minutes later the elevator doors opened and I stepped on then pressed the 1st floor button, and took it down.
I hummed to myself at the soft music that played on the elevator. As the doors opened I stepped off and passed other people toward the entrance, I stepped out as the wind blew making me shiver.
I stood on the corner and walked down a bit as a car pulled beside me, I looked over and saw my dad waving at me to get in. I walked over and got in the backseat and shut the door as he drove off. I remained quiet and sat back before my dad finally spoke up.
"We heard you had an accident at work thank goodness you're okay," said My dad with a worried look as he was driving
"Yeah I'm fine Dad Doctor told me I had high blood pressure and was stressing myself too much," I said as I looked out the window at the builds we passed
"You gotta take better care of yourself, Marley, I have one daughter in the hospital I don't want another one in there too," said Dad's voice cracking a bit as I frowned a bit sadly
"I will Dad I'm okay," I said smiling a bit and reaching up to rub his shoulder as he drove
I sat back and looking out the window in my own world, my mind raced with many things but mainly they always drifted to Jonathan.
I looked back ahead and saw a truck coming straight for us.
"Dad lookout!" I said my eyes wide and fearful as I jumped forward
