Chereads / How To Be A Proper Villain / Chapter 17 - Sunny.

Chapter 17 - Sunny.

After Sil's episode, and Derrick's awful attempt to explain what happened, we managed to sober up the drunk Sil and Ronald went to get some sobering medicine for us.

But then on our way back, Derrick suggested sobering Sil up through a more forceful method. I didn't agree, but Sil didn't disagree either.

So they left and I couldn't follow them, because of a timely call.

I quietly watched them leave then eventually turned around, and went to the back of the restaurant to pick the call.

It was very cold and the sky was darker than usual, but what was even more unusual was the gruesome look on my face.

I walked over to the front door, as I thought about my conversation with my mum.

She called again just to tell me the babysitter was on their way.

I tried to argue my way out of it, but she's just that stubborn, and it's always annoying to get into a fight with her.

"Arghh!", I kicked the air in frustration, but ended up startling a stray cat which startled a person.

"Ahhh what the heck?!"

"Oh it's you.", I said coldly, moving my gaze from her to her unusually coloured hair.

"Micheal, what are you doing outside and why are you so angry, did something go wrong?", she said it all with a smile and in a light tone filled with slight worry.

I never really liked her, and the feeling was mutual, but I liked her even less now, and I knew she felt the same.

"Why were you so friendly with Sil tonight?"

I ignored her and asked the question that had lingered on my mind since her arrival.

"What, are you jealous?", she asked jokingly, but I wasn't even smiling, not to mention being in the mood for her jokes.

Her cheerful gaze met my steady eyes. I wasn't drunk, and neither was she.

So we both knew we were serious, she just chose to be cheeky about it.

"You boys sure know how to turn a girl off.", she muttered to herself, then turned to me.

"Tell me, did Sil say you should ask for him? If yes, then tell him I was trying to leave a good impression."

She suddenly ran her hand through her hair, then started speaking.

"And we were doing just fine too.", she mumbled out, clearly disappointed.

But I wasn't really interested, what concerned yet confused me though, was why she thought Sil had sent me.

But before I could refute her words, someone interrupted me.

"That's not-"

"Micheal!"

I turned around and so did Eunice.

It was Ronald.

"Have you seen Sil?", he asked, concern evident in his voice.

"No", I replied coldly.

'Why is everyone bothering him tonight?', I thought in annoyance.

"I tried calling him but he isn't picking up and-"

"I saw him."

Eunice suddenly spoke up, interrupting Ronald and attracting his attention at the same time.

"You did?", he asked, skeptical.

"Yeah, he came out a while ago. We talked for a bit then I had a phone call and had to leave, so we ended the conversation there."

She barely talked and mainly whispered, but we could hear her just fine.

"So where did he go? No which road did he take?", Ronald spoke hurriedly.

"That's the thing, I don't know. Sorry…"

She apologized sincerely, but I had stopped paying attention to her. Instead…

"Why are you looking for him?", I asked softly, my gaze circling the bags in his hands.

"He's still drunk, and it seems like it's going to rain."

"I don't think he's still drunk.", Eunice corrected Ronald.

"It doesn't matter, I just need to find him."

"Then cal-", Eunice suggested but was cut off.

"Call? I've tried.", Ronald spat out, frustrated.

And Eunice turned quiet, she seemed to be thinking about something.

But just before Ronald left, I asked.

"And those?"

I pointed at the bags. Those didn't look like medicine, so were they for Sil?

Was it the gift he wanted to get for his aunt?

I thought, and wondered when they left to get it.

"Oh they're umbrellas, and scarves and- Here you can have one, I'll go find him."

Ronald pulled out an umbrella and handed it to me. I didn't collect it but held his arm instead.

"Let's find him together, but give this to her first."

I gestured towards Eunice who appeared surprised.

Ronald nodded before handing the umbrella to Eunice, and giving me another one.

"If you find him give him this, or wait with him if it starts raining.", He said before he broke into a sprint.

"What about the scarf?", I asked as soon as he finished speaking.

"I'll give it to him myself!"

He shouted without turning back, then ran off.

"Why are you guys babying him like this? He's going to be fine."

Eunice asked as she followed me.

'We're not babying him.'

I thought but didn't respond.

"He's my friend so I'll take care of him.", I said after multiple second thoughts.

"That's not how friends take care of eachother.", she whispered, and suddenly started trailing behind.

Probably planning on tormenting me from another angle.

"We're not normal friends.", I said simply.

"I'm kinda jealous.", She said as she kept following me.

I rolled my eyes at her statements and just walked faster.

'Girls are so troublesome.'

My mum came to mind, and just then my phone buzzed.

I paused for a second then brought it out of my pocket.

9:38 pm

My gaze brushed past the time as I went to my messages.

_He's on his way._

Was the latest message I received.

She said he'd pick me up by 10, but he's already here about half an hour early.

Seeing as she's just telling me about it, then he must be here already.

"Eunice, can you do me a favor?", I suddenly stopped and turned around, startling Eunice.

"What happened?"

Her voice held a tinge of worry, which was normal considering the drastic change in attitude and expression compared to the last time I spoke to her.

"Someone's here to pick me up, can you tell the person I'm already gone?", I said softly, hoping to incite pity.

"Can't the guys do that?"

Her eyes relaxed and suddenly became droopy, almost as if she was just woken up from a nap.

"No… they don't know about him. Please… I don't want him to wait for me or tell my mum I'm not there."

She stared at me for a moment, before giving in.

"Aw fine. Ack, you're so troublesome."

She eventually gave in and turned back, while I ran off to find Sil.

Along the street I found myself on, I spotted a shop that sold scarves and walked in to find a pretty and suitable one for Sil.

I wanted to get matching scarves, but it suddenly hit me that that'd be weird.

So I got a scarf for everyone in the same design pattern, but different colours.

I got a cool blue and bold ash scarf for Sil with criss cross designs, and a mild violet and vivid black for myself.

I walked out of the shop and looked around, hoping to find Sil along the way.

I wanted to give him the scarf before Ronald did.

From the moment I was left with just an umbrella and not a scarf, it suddenly became a priority to find him first, and it became really urgent the moment I found that store.

I laughed softly to myself, and thought;

'No one must know my thoughts, or they'll either call me weird or obsessed.'

But that is, all because they don't know the full story.

'Sunny…'

He shouldn't have called me that. He should have never called me that again, if he wasn't going to continue.

"Haa… let's just find him, and end the night there."

I muttered to myself and decided to do a quick search by running, but strong winds began to blow, so I decided to walk around instead.

"And I was so excited too…", I laughed again as my mind lingered back to my thoughts, and the day I found out Sil was coming today.

But this really wasn't the best weather for such an outing, it was a good thing that it was close enough for all of us to attend.

'Even Eunice came. Hmm… hm? Sil?'

I stopped in my tracks once I spotted on the other side of the road, northeast from my direction.

His attention was fully focused on his phone, and he didn't even look up once.

I tried calling out to him but he seemed to be in his own world.

So I called his phone, but he wasn't picking up.

'What the…?', I was stunned, and annoyed.

What was he doing on his phone that was so important?!

By now, it had begun to rain, albeit a light drizzle.

But it intensified as time passed, and due to the surrounding noise Sil failed to hear Michael call him.

I was frustrated, excited but determined to get to him first, so I just ran towards him, after I checked the road.

But then-

Pimm---------- pmmpmmp…!

'Huh?'

The bright light from the oncoming vehicle outshone the bright and sunny Micheal for the first time.

Vwam!
