"Just because we both grabbed it at the same time, doesn't mean I didn't offer compensation, right? I said she can pick anything else in the store at the same price, and I'll pay for it."
Yan Huan glanced at the price tag on the shelf; this little keychain actually cost nearly a hundred, more expensive than many other items in the store.
The combination of tourist site price buff plus decent workmanship made this sole jellyfish keychain hanging there look so pricey.
"I will pay double the price, you can pick anything else left, and I'll pay; do you accept that?"
Upon hearing this, Ye Shiyu behind Yan Huan spoke up unhurriedly, leaving it unclear whether her words were a suggestion or a provocation.
Anyway, the blonde girl thought it was the latter.
Her face sported a chilling sneer: "Heh, I'm warning you, don't get cocky just because you've brought a boyfriend to back you up..."
Ye Shiyu first shook her head, simply looking at her as if she didn't understand the meaning of her words and waiting for a response.
"Snap!"
Just then, Yan Huan snapped his fingers in front of the blonde girl expressionlessly, capturing her attention and, like striking a match, igniting her fury bar,
"What are you doing?!"
The blonde was just about to explode in anger, but Yan Huan couldn't care less, turning his head and giving Ye Shiyu a helpless smile instead.
The smile directed at the black-haired girl was evidently of resignation yet so patient, causing the blonde's expression to falter slightly.
She weirdly halted her bout of rage and simply watched as Yan Huan raised his arm, yelling loudly towards the entrance,
"Hello, we need some help over here!"
"Coming, what can I do for you?"
The store clerk at the entrance hurried over when he heard the shout, and Yan Huan pointed to the jellyfish keychain in Ye Shiyu's hand, saying,
"There is only one of these keychains left on the shelf. We both want it. Do you have any more in stock?"
"Yes, we do, please come and pay first. For the other customer, please wait a moment, I'll get it for you immediately."
Yan Huan turned his head and looked at the blonde, who had stopped her tantrum midway, his expression as speechless as some black TV show host from a former life.
Over such a trivial matter, was it really necessary to make such a fuss?
He seemed to want to comment "SB," but then he thought it might reflect badly on the girl he was protecting behind him, so he let it go.
Yan Huan didn't say another word to the blonde girl, not even glancing at her, simply holding his drink and smiling at Ye Shiyu,
"Sister Shiyu, let's go."
Ye Shiyu looked at him, and for once, she awkwardly avoided Yan Huan's gaze as if she too felt her earlier actions were somewhat silly,
"Mm..."
Yan Huan stood behind her, still protecting her from the blonde girl and headed towards the cashier together.
Meanwhile, the blonde girl behind them didn't continue to make a fuss, just silently watching them leave, her gaze incessantly shifting between the retreating figures of Yan Huan and Ye Shiyu.
At the cashier, the jellyfish keychain was scanned, ready for payment. Not to mention the service was quite on point, even for just a keychain, they still provided full packaging which seemed rather wasteful.
Ye Shiyu took out her phone, and it was only then that Yan Huan saw she had a message notification from a few minutes ago, a message from Ye Lan.
Feeling Yan Huan's gaze, Ye Shiyu opened the plane app and glanced at it, then turned to Yan Huan saying,
"My mom sent a message just now, saying we have to wait a bit longer and we should find a place to sit and rest."
Wait a minute, could the phone's notification earlier have been because of...
"..."
"What's wrong?"
"Nothing."
Realizing that Ye Shiyu probably had not been using the hypnosis app just now, Yan Huan found it difficult to keep his smile from almost breaking.
"Ding!"
"Payment received on plane, 99 yuan."
"Thank you for your patronage, have a nice day."
Ye Shiyu, holding the bag, walked out the door with Yan Huan and found a bench to sit down on.
No sooner had they sat down than she eagerly opened the package and took out a small notification sticker from her purse.
Yan Huan caught a glimpse, each sticker bore her name,
"Ye Shiyu."
She took one off, peeled off the backing, and stuck it onto the side of the jellyfish keychain. She then pressed it down firmly with her fingers to ensure it wouldn't fall off.
Now, this item truly belonged to her.
Yan Huan observed her actions, watching her smoothly label her name, fondly fiddled with it for a while, then put all her belongings back into her purse.
After getting everything sorted, Ye Shiyu looked up, meeting Yan Huan's gaze dead on.
"..."
Both locked eyes and didn't look away, but her pupils shrank almost imperceptibly.
Still smiling, Yan Huan was the first to hand her the drink he had just bought, saying,
"Sister Shiyu, this is the drink I just got. I wasn't sure what you liked, so I just picked something at random..."
"Thank you."
Ye Shiyu nodded, glanced at the drink, and unhesitatingly reached into the bag for the Big Banana Smoothie.
That was bought for Aunt Ye...
Yan Huan blinked, about to say so but suddenly he stopped himself.
Ah, could it be, did Ye Shiyu also like banana-flavored drinks?
But Ye Shiyu, after taking the drink, didn't immediately start sipping it; instead, she once again spaced out, staring into the distance.
Her fair fingers stroked the paper cup, tracing indecision unreadable to others.
After a brief moment, that hesitation finally drew to a close.
She lifted her head to look at Yan Huan and suddenly said,
"Thank you for what happened just now..."
"No worries, it's what I should do, Sister Shiyu."
Yan Huan smiled slightly, true to his name.
