"Yes, I've recorded it," Guan Chao shook the memory card in his hand.
The police officer's attitude softened slightly as he asked, "Why would they smash your camera for no good reason?"
Guan Chao replied, "We're investigating the roadside parking spaces."
"Roadside parking spaces?" The officer was puzzled. "What's there to investigate?"
Guan Chao said, "The roads belong to the government, but according to our investigation, payments for roadside parking spaces go to a private company. We want to know by what right this company is collecting money."
The police officer's brow furrowed slightly and he said, "Give me the memory card."
Guan Chao handed it over.
"Wait here for a moment."
The officer took the memory card and went inside.
Once out of sight, he dialed a number: "Mr. Yang, there are journalists investigating your company."
Mr. Yang replied, "What's there to investigate?"
