Chereads / Official Career Storm / Chapter 7 - Chapter 7

Chapter 7 - Chapter 7

Since Song Guanchao had decided to pursue a political career, developing his own network was essential.

This girl, however, was a good prospect.

She possessed a sense of justice, but lacked experience and was inexperienced.

Moreover, her stubborn nature meant she lacked discernment.

These traits were seen as shortcomings by others, but for him, they were advantages.

Because they made her easy to deceive!

Song Guanchao quickly formulated a plan in his mind.

He smiled gently and said, "Miss Wu, you haven't been in the Disciplinary Committee for long, have you?"

Wu Yun frowned, "What are you trying to say?"

Song Guanchao said, "I'm saying you're not suited for the Disciplinary Committee. Consider transferring to another department, or else, sooner or later, you'll be involved in wrongful cases."

Wu Yun's emotions fluctuated wildly as she glared at him fiercely, "Song Guanchao, do you think you're being wronged, right? The Disciplinary Committee doesn't deal in sentiments, only in evidence. If you're wronged, produce the evidence to prove it!"

"Heh." Song Guanchao laughed, "Don't you understand that the burden of proof lies with the accuser?"

"You still don't believe when I say you're not suitable."

Shaking his head, Song Guanchao sneered sarcastically, "Miss Wu, remember, if I'm really found guilty, it will be due to the incompetence of your Disciplinary Committee! I hope you can sleep soundly every night henceforth."

"Song Guanchao!"

Wu Yun clenched her fists, shouting his name with some agitation.

She had entered the Disciplinary Committee with excellent results, and her capabilities were recognized by her leaders.

Yet now, Song Guanchao almost pointed out directly that she lacked ability, only wronging good people.

This undoubtedly touched her most sensitive and concerned spot.

Song Guanchao dug at his ear, "Righteousness isn't about being loudest."

Wu Yun took a deep breath and said, "People and physical evidence, both are complete! You must admit it even if you don't acknowledge!"

Song Guanchao said, "Evidence doesn't represent anything."

"I said, I've been framed. That money was put there by someone else; I've never met Chen Dazhi."

"You see, I've said so much, but you don't believe me. You only believe in the words of Zhang Ming and Chen Dazhi. You don't even investigate whether what they say is true or false."

Wu Yun said, "I only believe in the evidence!"

"What if the evidence is also false?"

"..." Wu Yun was momentarily unable to rebut.

Song Guanchao smiled slightly, "Miss Wu, you really aren't suited to stay in the Disciplinary Committee."

Having said that, Song Guanchao turned and walked deliberately towards the interrogation room.

Wu Yun stared at his back, her breathing uneven with anger.

"Song Guanchao!" Wu Yun called out loudly towards his back, "I will investigate this case, and if I am wrong, I will apologize to you!"

Song Guanchao didn't look back as he waved his hand, and in the place she couldn't see, the corners of his mouth slightly curled up.

This connection with Wu Yun was showing initial signs of success.

Entering the interrogation room, Song Guanchao sat on the cold interrogation chair.

The seat of the interrogation chair was small and narrow, with a straight back; no matter how one adjusted, it was hard to maintain a comfortable seating position, causing one's mood to involuntarily edge toward irritability.

Ordinary people entering the interrogation room wouldn't take long to confess their crimes.

Even seasoned criminals couldn't withstand it for more than a few hours.

When the young policewoman who had previously spoken with Wu Yun walked in and saw Song Guanchao sitting calmly in the interrogation chair, she was slightly surprised.

A flicker of admiration crossed Song Guanchao's eyes.

This policewoman is just as good as Wu Yun.

A melon-seed face, phoenix eyes, a hint of baby fat on her cheeks, and two determined brows added a rare heroic air to her femininity.

A veteran policeman in his forties followed her inside.

They sat on either side of Song Guanchao.

The old policeman took out a cigarette and tossed one over, "Start talking."

During his time in the military, Song Guanchao had dealt with the police and was quite familiar with these old policemen's methods.

He took the cigarette, lit it, and the young policewoman slightly frowned, obviously disliking the smell of smoke.

She picked up the case file and said, "Song Guanchao, 26 years old, retired from the Nanjiang Military District, entered the municipal government half a month ago, serving as the driver to Vice Mayor Li Fuhai."

"Due to promises made to others, claiming to have connections in the municipal government, able to arrange positions for others..."

The policewoman summarized the situation briefly, looking at Song Guanchao, "The Disciplinary Committee found a large sum of cash at your home, also, Zhang Ming and Chen Dazhi have confessed. What do you have to say about this?"

Song Guanchao extinguished the cigarette and said, "The money was placed in my home by others, I have been framed."

The policewoman scoffed, "You're just a driver, who would frame you?"

Song Guanchao shook his head, "I don't know."

Although he knew the full story, he had to act as if he knew nothing until the situation was settled.

He needed to portray himself as the perfect victim.

"Don't know?" The policewoman snorted, "Song Guanchao, since we've taken over this case, naturally we have the relevant evidence. It doesn't matter if you don't admit it, the evidence is indisputable, and you will soon be transferred for prosecution, and what awaits you is the severe punishment of the law!"

Song Guanchao rolled his eyes and muttered, "Another bimbo."

The policewoman's eyes widened, "What did you say?"

Song Guanchao said with a smile, "I said you really have keen eyes, spotting the issue with me just like that, truly a rare female detective in the Ministry of Public Security!"

"Be serious, Song Guanchao! This is a police station, not your home; don't joke around with me!"

The policewoman slammed her hand on the interrogation table.

The old policeman coughed lightly and said, "Jiajia, conduct the interrogation properly, don't get emotional."

"It's him not cooperating!" the policewoman said angrily.

The old policeman, helplessly, said, "How many do cooperate when they come here?"

The policewoman said, "The evidence is conclusive, yet he still denies it, people like him deserve to rot in jail!"

"Alright," the old policeman quickly interjected, "It's getting late, you should go back and rest, don't make Chief Liang worry."

The policewoman frowned, "I'm a police officer, this is my job! How can I leave when my work is not done? Besides, I am me, and my father is my father. I've said it many times; even if my dad is the Chief, it has nothing to do with me, I don't need any special treatment!"

Song Guanchao was surprised inside, this girl's dad is the Chief?

Which bureau's chief?

He pondered in his mind, wondering if this girl could also be an opportunity to explore?

With that thought, Song Guanchao deliberately said, "So, a nepotism beneficiary, huh."

"Bang!"

The term "nepotism beneficiary" completely ignited Liang Jiajia's emotions.

She furiously slammed her hands on the table and stood up, like an enraged little tiger, glaring at Song Guanchao.

"Watch your mouth, Song Guanchao!"

"I got into the police academy on my own merit, I don't take more than two days off a month, every day I'm on the front lines, and every case I handle is solved 100%!"

"Do you know me? Do you understand me? What gives you the right to call me a nepotism beneficiary?"

Liang Jiajia was extremely agitated, almost screaming at the end.

Due to her intense emotions, her ample chest under the police uniform heaved with each breath.

Song Guanchao chuckled, "A 100% solve rate, impressive. Hope they aren't all wrongful cases like mine, eh?"
