Chapter 6 - Exchange

Since then, no one has surpassed Aoki's performance, but through his skills, many have learned valuable techniques that significantly boosted their own scores.

Guga, however, was the most disdainful of the whole process. He didn't rely on any skills, and his results were purely a reflection of his raw ability. To him, everyone else was beneath him—just a bunch of lucky individuals who could do a few tricks, Aoki included.

The final results were as follows:

First place: Number 99, attack value: 98

Second place: Number 234, attack value: 97

Third place: Number 67, attack value: 95

Fourth place: Number 156, attack value: 93

Fifth place: Number 279, attack value: 90

According to the rules set by the poisonous snake, the top ten were awarded the same amount of points—100 points each—regardless of their position.

After the ranking, everyone received a belt adorned with the Rockets R logo, which also served as an identity card. Each belt displayed the person's number and stored their points. One of the most useful features of the Rockets belt was its cubic storage space.

Ignoring those who tried to keep him around, Aoki took the Dark Crow and headed straight for the point exchange. As a former member of the Rockets, he knew how vast the points store was, but since he had a limited amount of points, he already had a plan for what he intended to redeem.

Despite the high costs of many items—like the 10 million points needed for the quasi-god mini dragon—Aoki only had 100 points. He quickly bypassed those expensive, unrealistic options and focused on what he could afford. Moving towards the props category, he browsed the tree fruit exchange list. These fruits were commonplace and not particularly sought after by most, but for Aoki, they were incredibly valuable. They saved time searching for them in the wild and could be used to create energy blocks for better cultivation, especially for Dark Crow's development.

Aoki used the 80 points to purchase as many tree fruits as he could, filling the cube space in his Rockets belt. He then spent 5 points on some daily essentials.

Swiping his points card, Aoki was about to leave when he saw someone entering the exchange with an Arbok—Guga!

As Guga passed by, Aoki silently activated the chip's scanning function.

Pokemon: Arbok (Green)

Gender: Male

Level: 14

Attribute: Poison

Characteristics: Intimidation

Carrying props: None

Genetic skills: Chase, Poison Sting, Ghost Face

Basic Skills: Coil, Stare, Bite, Glare

Teaching Skills: Robbery

Skill Learner: None

Aoki's eyes narrowed upon seeing the results. The green-qualified Arbok was no surprise—this was the reason why Guga had been able to win first place in the past. In this ranking test, Aoki had roughly scanned the competitors, and only five green-eligible Pokemon had participated. However, Guga's green Arbok stood out among them.

It was clear that taming such a rare and powerful snake, especially one with intimidating characteristics, required extraordinary skill. It wasn't hard to see why Guga had won first place in previous tests.

As Aoki kept his gaze on Guga, he noticed a shift in the atmosphere. Guga turned and spoke, "Hello, you're the one who came second!"

Aoki, unfazed, didn't respond and continued walking.

Guga's expression darkened, and with a grunt, he commanded, "Arbok, attack! Poison Sting!"

The Arbok opened its mouth and fired several long, purple needles directly at Aoki. But Aoki was prepared. He quickly gave an order: "Dark Crow, use tailwind! Return the poison needle!"

The Dark Crow, skilled in using wind abilities, activated a downwind skill. Its wings created two small cyclones that deflected the poisonous needles aimed at Aoki.

Aoki turned around to face Guga, his eyes glowing with a dangerous edge. But Guga merely grinned, saying, "Not bad, better than I expected." He then turned and ignored Aoki, walking off toward the exchange counter.

Aoki frowned, resisting the urge to take action. After a brief moment, he signaled for Dark Crow to descend. With that, he walked out of the exchange and ventured into the forest, not looking back.

In the headquarters of the Rockets, the Chief Instructor, the poisonous snake, sat at his desk while a mysterious figure cloaked in black sat across from him. A tea set was placed between them, the steam rising in the still air.

After a period of silence, the poisonous snake spoke first, "Why have you come to see me again?"

The figure in black adjusted slightly, revealing weathered eyes under the hood. "The mission failed. I need a few people to supplement my team." The voice was hoarse, and its age was hard to pinpoint.

Grinning, the poisonous snake took a slow sip of his tea. "Oh? The mission failed? I never thought I'd see the day you, of all people, would fail. Have you fallen so low that you need to seek my help now?"

Ignoring the mocking tone, the man in black responded, "We fell into a trap set by the alliance, and two heavenly-level experts almost caught us."

The poisonous snake's expression shifted slightly. "The alliance sent two heavenly-level experts? How did you escape?"

After a brief silence, the man in black slowly exposed a dry left hand from beneath the robe, revealing that three of his fingers were missing.

The poisonous snake's eyes widened. "Poison King?" he asked, though his tone was more of a statement.

The figure in black gave a faint nod. "Yes. It was a high-level Poison King of the Heavenly King class and a middle-level Superpower King. Neither were visible forces of the alliance."

"I barely managed to escape," the figure continued, "If not for my quick thinking, I would have lost my entire hand." He took a deep breath, pushing down his unease. "Fortunately, I managed to stall them with my three Pokemon, but the mission... it was bound to fail."
