Chapter 4: The Stranger's Secret
Emily's mind was reeling as she tried to process the stranger's words. Who was this person, and how did he know so much about her? She felt like she was living in a dream, where nothing made sense and everything was twisted and distorted.
"I don't understand," Emily said, her voice shaking. "How do you know all this about me?"
The stranger smiled again, his eyes glinting in the dim light. "I've been watching you, Emily," he repeated. "I've been watching you for a long time."
Emily felt a shiver run down her spine. There was something unsettling about the way the stranger spoke, something that made her feel like she was trapped in a web of his making.
"Why?" Emily demanded, trying to keep her voice firm. "Why have you been watching me?"
The stranger leaned forward, his eyes burning with an intensity that made Emily's heart skip a beat. "Because I'm trying to help you, Emily," he said. "I'm trying to save you from yourself."
Emily's eyes narrowed, unsure of what to make of the stranger's words. What did he mean by "save her from herself"? And why did she get the feeling that he was hiding something from her?
Suddenly, the stranger stood up, his movements swift and silent. "I think it's time for me to go," he said, his eyes glinting in the dim light.
Emily felt a pang of disappointment, unsure of why she felt so attached to this stranger. "Wait," she said, standing up. "I don't even know your name."
The stranger smiled again, his eyes sparkling with amusement. "My name is not important, Emily," he said. "What's important is that you remember my words. You are not alone, Emily. And I will always be here to help you."
And with that, he turned and disappeared into the night, leaving Emily feeling more confused and alone than ever.
